Talk show and commentary agent Larry Wilmore's "Nightly Show" has gotten cancelled after 18 months on Comedy Central. The Daily Show, says Nightly’s ratings and social media buzz were not strong enough.
“We started our show thinking all the good bad race stuff was done already, but apparently we were wrong,” he told viewers Tuesday night. “And we’ve covered race from just about every angle you can think of.”
In an interview with The Post, Wilmore said he was told last Thursday of the cancellation and that it came as “a shock.” “Even if we weren’t picked up for the next season, I thought we’d be on at least through the election,” he said.
In Jan. 2015, the veteran writer-producer and former “senior black correspondent” for “The Daily Show”took over the 11:30 time slot previously held by “The Colbert Report,” becoming late-night’s only black host before Trevor Noah inherited “The Daily Show” from Jon Stewart.
On Monday’s show — his first since the cancellation was announced — Wilmore made a pointed joke that highlighted the show’s unique perspective.
“My only regret is that we won’t be around to cover this truly insane election season,” Wilmore said. “On the plus side, our show going off the air has to only mean one thing: Racism is solved. We did it.”
Hmm, we wonder if his cancellation had to do with his calling the POTUS "nigga" at this year's Correspondence Dinner at The White House.

LeBron James has plans for retirement -- but don't worry he's not planning to hang it up just yet.
James made the comments during Wednesday's episode of the "Open Run" podcast, which is co-hosted by actor Jesse Williams and Stefan Marolachakis.
"I feel like my brain, as far as the game of basketball, is unique and I would love to continue to give my knowledge to the game," James said. "And I would love to be a part of a franchise, if not at the top. My dream is to actually own a team, [but] I don't need to [be] fully hands-on. If I'm fortunate enough to own a team, then I'm going to hire the best GM and president that I can."
He also said he has a good eye for the character and passion of players, which would help as an owner.James signed a new three-year contract with the Cavaliers this year that's worth about $100 million. He also has a lucrative lifetime endorsement deal with Nike.
Good for him. James is inching closer of becoming this generation's Michael Jordan.
Within the last five years, Criminal Minds star Thomas Gibson was involved in a few incidents that led to his firing from the hit show, it has been reported.
Multiple industry sources with knowledge of the situation told Variety.com that the actor had three strikes against him including the most recent incident when he kicked producer Virgil Williams.
Gibson, who has played the role of Special Agent Aaron Hotchner since 2005, was fired by Criminal Minds producers ABC Studios and CBS Television after the incident during the production of an episode that Gibson was directing.
The alleged shoving incident came after Gibson had filmed a chase scene in which he had to drive quickly across the bridge. After the take, he yelled and confronted Woolf about safety concerns and Woolf yelled back, sources told Variety. Gibson then reportedly shoved the director with both hands. \
And in January 2013, the star's 'second strike' came when he pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving after being arrested on suspicion of a DUI.
Sources told Variety that Gibson could be personable and friendly but other times quick to anger.
He and his co-star Shemar Moore, who left the show at the end of last season, had a tense relationship because sources said, Moore's late arrivals aggravated Gibson.

Dedicated to former foundation chair Peter Fischer, the book touts essays by Paul Ha, former head of the Contemporary Art Museum; Peter MacKeith, dean of the university of Missouri's architecture school; and Bob Duffy, former Post-Dispatch and KWMU-FM 90.7 critic.Nelly can add a new first to his accomplishments -- he has lined up a performance with the St. Louis Symphony.
Rap mogul Nelly will be adding a symphony to his concert resume as he and the St Louis Symphony will perform next February at Powell Symphony Hall. The event will feature twists on Nelly’s hits. This will be the second time that the rap superstar performed with an orchestra. In July, he
performed with a symphonic concert with the
Pittsburgh Symphony in Pittsburgh, Pa.
This is a great idea to mesh hip hip with the
symphony and Nelly is mainstream enough for it to
be pulled off. It is also an indication of .the Hamilton
effect taking effect.
From reports, nonprofit agency called HOME (House of Miles East St. Louis) is close to opening up a museum at jazz legend Miles Davis childhood home in East St Louis. It started a project to restore Davis’ childhood home at 1701 Kansas Ave. in East St. Louis, Illinois. The home, where Davis lived in the 1920s, will be turned into a museum and education center. The renovation project was started in 2011 and is expected to be completed later this year.
The organization started a GoFundMe campaign to help finance the project. According to an article on the St. Louis Public Radio website, the interior of the one-story structure is skeletal — all bare studs and dust, but the developers hope the home will eventually inspire children.
The structure is intended to be a repository of artifacts from Davis’ time in the city and preserve stories from Davis’ childhood. Organizers also expect to develop educational programs that include music classes, history lessons, and community stewardship targeted at 6- to 12-year-olds. The founders are working out a partnership with the local school district to develop programs in the classroom and at the museum.
