HEY OUTSTAGRS!

ITS TIME!!

TO GET ON STAGE!!

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history.

ILLI MO SPOTLIGHT

The editors at Sports Illustrated have put former Mizzou Tigers football player Michael Sam on its front cover for this week.
But according to reports, it took a bit of shuffling and planning for a cover in case the news didn’t break by the time the magazine closed, said Sports Illustrated managing editor Chris Stone.
“On Friday we became aware of the fact that the story was going to break. We had initially heard mid-Monday and obviously that changed late Sunday afternoon,” he said. “We heard it was going to break Sunday night so we were prepared for this. There was a possibility it wouldn’t break until after our close on Monday, so we had to prepare for the possibility we would have to go with a different cover. But by late Sunday we knew the story was coming out and it was going to be a big story.”
The cover featuring Sam superseded other major sports news this week, including the Olympics and the firestorm created by Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart shoving a fan. Stone said the magazine had been going in a different direction entirely until the news broke.
For Sports Illustrated, it’s the second cover in the past few months featuring a groundbreaking gay athlete on the cover. The way the stories came about, though, were different.
In May, NBA free agent Jason Collins decided to tell his story exclusively to the magazine. This affected the cover because of the photo availability: The magazine was able to shoot Collins themselves and decided to go with a portrait as the photo.
For Sam, it was much more reacting to the news. The photo they chose is a file photo of him pointing directly at the lens.
“We went through a bunch of pictures of him and that photo was just so striking,” Stone said. “(It seemed like) he had a very direct message and that photo displayed someone who is very confident.”

TIDBIT: The cover pic was shot by UPI photographer and St Louisan Bill Greenblatt.
Now the question is how well Sam will fare during the NFL draft. It was reported that some GMs in the NFL have a problem with him coming out. As with anything in life, people are uncomfortable when the normal ways are shakened and stirred up. We think Sam will do fine in the NFL but he will have the microscope on him with every move he makes on and off the field.

FOOD BITEZ

As lovers celebrate Valentine's day, millions will buy  Chocolate.

Chocolate Listeni/ˈɒk(ə)lət/ is a processed, typically sweetened food produced from the seed of the tropical Theobroma cacao tree. Cacao has been cultivated for at least three millennia in Mexico and Central America. Its earliest documented use is around 1100 BC by the Olmecs in south central Mexico.
After fermentation, the beans are dried, then cleaned, and then roasted, and the shell is removed to produce cacao nibs. The nibs are then ground tococoa mass, pure chocolate in rough form. Because this cocoa mass usually is liquefied then molded with or without other ingredients, it is called chocolate liquor. The liquor also may be processed into two components: cocoa solids and cocoa butter. Unsweetened baking chocolate (bitter chocolate) contains primarily cocoa solids and cocoa butter in varying proportions.

Much of the chocolate consumed today is in the form of sweet chocolate, a combination of cocoa solids, cocoa butter or other fat, and sugar. Milk chocolate is sweet chocolate that additionally contains milk powder or condensed milk. White chocolate contains cocoa butter, sugar, and milk but no cocoa solids.
Cocoa solids contain alkaloids such as theobrominephenethylamine and caffeine.[2] These have physiological effects on the body and are linked toserotonin levels in the brain. Some research has found that chocolate, eaten in moderation, can lower blood pressure.[3] The presence of theobromine renders chocolate toxic to some animals,[4] especially dogs and cats.
The Europeans sweetened and fattened chocolate by adding refined sugar and milk, two ingredients unknown to the Mexicans. In the 19th century, Briton John Cadbury developed an emulsification process to make solid chocolate, creating the modern chocolate bar. Chocolate has become one of the most popular food types and flavors in the world, and a vast number of foodstuffs involving chocolate have been created. Chocolate chip cookieshave become very common, and very popular, in most parts of Europe and North America. Gifts of chocolate molded into different shapes have become traditional on certain holidays. Chocolate is also used in cold and hot beverages, to produce chocolate milk and hot chocolate.
Although cocoa is originally from the Americas, today Western Africa produces almost two-thirds of the world's cocoa, with Côte d'Ivoire growing almost half of it.

This week we spotlight STL based fashion designer Carissa Victoria of NAVISH. Here she is rocking the blonde frizzy fro, nerd glasses, red thick looped earrings, and  linen  casual wear  with a white jacket, gray blouse, and red hot pants....the look overall is very comfort chic.

Why did entertainment reporter Sam Rubin slip[and called Samuel Jackson, Laurence Fishburne on his show? Why did Bob Costas go on TV reporting at Sochi with pink eye? Why is Suge Knight caught on tape buying drugs? Why is it shocking that Lil Kim is preggo? Why wont Bruce Jenner come out and say he is transforming into a female? Why did  De la Soul give permission for all their music catalog away to download online? And why is Valentines Day considered a holiday?
