ILLI MO SPOTLIGHT

President Obama and First Lady Michelle

Obama will host another installment of the

concert series In Performance At The White

House to air on PBS. Aretha Franklin, Jill

Scott, Janelle Monae, Melissa Etheridge and

Patti LaBelle are all scheduled to perform.

Women Of Soul will air on PBS Monday, April 7th.

Have you all heard the audio footage of The President announcing Aretha and he misspelled the letters to her hit "Respect" ? It was a slip but the crowd and he laughed it off. We wonder if that footage will be edited from the actual TV show when it airs.

Springfield, Mo native actor Brad Pitt won his first Oscar Sunday when he won as one of the producers of the film, "12 Years a Slave" that won Best Picture.

Pitt was reported as saying that he thought he would never win an Academy Award.

Thank you all," Pitt said in his acceptance speech. "Thank you for this incredible honor you bestowed on our film tonight. I know I speak for everyone standing behind me that it has been an absolute privilege to work on Solomon's story. And we all get to stand up here tonight because of one man who brought us all together to tell that story. And that is the indomitable Mr. Steve McQueen."

McQueen, who made history as the first black director (and first African-European)to win an Oscar for Best Picture.  directed the real-life drama.

Backstage Pitt said to the press, "At the end of the day we just hope that this film remains a gentle reminder that we're all equal We all want the same, we want dignity and opportunity for ourselves and our family."

On Saturday, Pitt also won for the film at The Independent Spirit Awards.

Grammy Award winning rap artist/actor and Chicago native Common is one of the featured artists speaking about the state of Chicago in the new CNN program Chicagoland that aired its first episode WednesdayThe eight-part non-scripted series serves as an examination of the changing politics and policies taking place in America’s third most populated city.

Chicagoland is produced by Sundance Productions’ Robert Redford and Laura Michalchyshyn as well as BCTV’s Marc Levin and Mark Benjamin.

The series covers members of the community trying to create innovative ways to address social policy, education, and public safety. Current mayor and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel also appears on the program.

Grammy Award winning singer/producer and Chicago native R. Kelly's 2013 album Black Panties debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and has gone on to sell more than 300,000 copies. In light of the album's success, the singer told V Magazine that he is planning a sequel entitled White Panties.

Kelly was  reportedly coy on details — his only admission being the vague quote, "You can expect a whole other level" — and did not divulge any album info or if White Panties would be his next album.

When asked more generally if he was compromising himself to placate to his fans, Kelly replied, "No. I always follow what my spirit tells me to do. When I get into the studio I write from my heart. I try to write life and not songs. People live life and when you write life, you’re going to mess around and touch somebody’s heart, and they’ll relate to you and what you’re singing about."
The singer also divulged that he was recording a song with Mary J. Blige as part of the duo's upcoming King and Queen tour and that he is hoping to do a full album with Blige.

Neither Kelly nor Blige have announced specific tour dates.
We have to give it to the R....regardless of his personal issues, he is a genius when it comes to creating projects involving sex and women since dare we say it, Prince in his heyday?

And speaking of V Magazine, Oscar and Grammy Award winning singer/actress and Chicago native Jennifer Hudson shows off her new sexier image in the new issue of V Magazine music issue.
In the spread, Jennifer Hudson opens up about her career and her upcoming album that is inspired by the 70s era.
“Earlier in my career I was just a soloist singing other people’s songs,” J-Hud said. “Now I really want to be an artist. I want to lift the people up, have fun, create a moment. I have my own visions that I want to bring to life.
Check out the full interview on V Magazine.
Wow J Hud looks great!.....Now if she is going to breakout with her music career this album has to do it.....since winning the Oscar her music career has been kind of "stepchilded" to her acting career. So we will see. And speaking of Oscars whats this rumor going around that J Hud shaded Oscar winner Lupita Nyung'o of 12 Years of Slave when she posted a pic on her Instagram of her pointing at her Oscar. Hmmm.

CHICAGO Bears returner Devin Hester said Wednesday he will not be back with the team next season.
"From my knowledge, I know that Chicago wants to go a different route with me," Hester told the NFL Network. "All I can say is thanks to the fans for their support. They've always been great to me. Always been loyal. I couldn't have played for a better city than those guys. At the end of my career, I do want to retire as a member of the Bears."
Hester who played with the Bears for eight years,  later posted his thanks to Bears fans on his Facebook page.
"To all my Chicago people ... I can't thank you all enough for my time in Chicago," he wrote. "I've always said I wanted to retire a Chicago Bear but sometimes things don't work out the way we would like. Chicago will always hold a special place in my heart and if I am fortunate enough to break the return record, we will have all broken it together ... no matter where I am. Thank you again and God Bless."
The Bears declined comment.
Along with his yardage his now infamous pantsed video while running yards on the grid iron will live on in infamy. LOL

One of OWN's highest rated television shows is coming back for a third season. Sassy soul food entrepreneur Miss Robbie Montgomery and her family are returning toOWN on March 15  for another lively season of the NAACP Image Award-winning docu-series "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's." that is filmed in St. Louis Mo.

In the new season, her son, Tim, attempts to expand their soul food empire beyond St. Louis with a new restaurant in Houston, Texas, and launch a new bottled tea line with the potential to grow their brand nationally. Miss Robbie's nephew, Charles, is torn about whether to pursue his fledgling acting career or continue trying to move up in the family business, while niece, Monique, expresses interest in taking over the Mangrove restaurant as manager if Tim moves to Texas.

Meanwhile, Tim and Jenae appear to have found a comfortable balance as co-parents to their son, TJ, until Tim's business ambitions and emotional distance bring their relationship to a breaking point. Through it all, Miss Robbie tries to juggle three restaurants, write a cookbook and manage both family and staff. But when her younger brother falls ill, the family's matriarch puts everything else on the backburner: because in the end, family is what really matters.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -
The long-awaited Ballpark Village next to Busch Stadium in St. Louis will officially open on March 27.Developers announced plans for the grand opening of Phase 1 of Ballpark Village. It includes a Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum, the Budweiser Brew House, the rodeo-themed cowboy bar PBR St. Louis, the piano bar Howl at the Moon, and a TV studio for Fox Sports Midwest.
Plans for Ballpark Village date more than a decade, but the project has run into various snags over the years. An opening ceremony will be at 5 p.m. March 27. The band Third Eye Blind will perform a free concert at 9 p.m.
Now whats up with with the rules that are going into effect at this venue where no one can wear ballcaps long shirts or sagging pants showing underwear....hmmm....sounds like profiling to us. This along with the outside protesters for employment diversity is not a good look for this establishment.

Speaking of the Ballpark Village's Hall of Fame thsi week it was announced that eight former Cardinals players and managers have been nominated for possible induction in the first class. They are  Jim Edmonds (PICTURED LEFT) , Bob Forsch, Keith Hernandez, Willie McGee (PICTURED RIGHT), Mark McGwire, Matt Morris, Ted Simmons and Joe Torre.

The eight ballot nominee were reportedly  selected by a "Red Ribbon" committee of Cardinals baseball experts through a secret ballot process and will appear on the first-ever Cardinals Hall of Fame ballot online at cardinals.com/HOF presented by Edward Jones (#CardsHOF). Voting commences TODAY Friday, March 7th. The two players with the most fan votes after voting concludes on April 22nd will be inducted into the Cardinals Hall of Fame this August.

Each member of the Cardinals Hall of Fame will  reportedly be permanently enshrined in the new Cardinals Hall of Fame Gallery presented by Edward Jones that will be located on the second floor of Cardinals Nation in Ballpark Village, just outside the entrance to the team's new museum. The Hall of Fame Gallery is free and open to the public. The plaques that will adorn the gallery are being produced by Mathews International, the company that also produces the plaques for the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
We have chosen our two players from the pic above. LOL

FOOD BITEZ

ON American Idol  one of the Top 12 contestants is a deviled egg junkie. The hist Ryan Seacrest even brought out some for the contestant to try....

This week we feature deviled eggs.

Deviled eggs (US) or devilled eggs (UK) or eggs mimosa are hard-boiled eggs, shelled, cut in half, and filled with the hard-boiled egg's yolk mixed with other ingredients such as mayonnaise and mustard,[1] but many other variants exist internationally. Deviled eggs are usually served cold. They are served as a side dishappetizer or a main course, and are a common holiday or party food.

The term "deviled", in reference to food, was in use in the 18th century, with the first known print reference appearing in 1786.[6] In the 19th century, it came to be used most often with spicy or zesty food, including eggs prepared with mustard, pepper or other ingredients stuffed in the yolk cavity.
In some parts of the Southern and Midwestern United States, the terms "stuffed eggs", "salad eggs" or "dressed eggs" are used, particularly when the dish is served in connection with a church function—presumably to avoid any association with The Devil.

The deviled egg can be seen in recipes as far back as ancient Rome.[2] It is still popular across the continent of Europe. In France it is called œuf mimosa; in Hungarytöltött tojás ("stuffed egg") or kaszinótojás ("casino egg"); in Romaniaouă umplute ("stuffed eggs"); in the Netherlands gevuld ei ("stuffed egg"); in Sweden fyllda ägg ("stuffed eggs"). In many European countries, especially BelgiumFrance, the Netherlands and Germany, a variation is served known as "Russian eggs". This consists of eggs cut in half, served with vegetable macédoine and garnished with mayonnaise,parsley and tomato.[3] Contrary to what the name might suggest, the dish does not originate in Russia: its name derives from the fact that the eggs are served on a bed of macédoine, which is sometimes called Russian salad. In the Black Forest region of Germany, Russian eggs may be garnished with caviar.[4] In Sweden, the deviled egg is a traditional dish on the Easter Smörgåsbord, where the yolk is mixed with caviarcream orsour cream, optionally chopped red onion, and decorated with chopped chives or dill, perhaps with a piece of anchovy or pickled herring. Deviled eggs are a common dish in the United States. In the Midwestern and Southern U.S., they are commonly served as hors d'oeuvres before a full meal is served, often during the summer months. Deviled eggs are so popular in the United States that special carrying trays are sold for them. Prepared and packaged deviled eggs are now available in some U.S. supermarkets.

\DISHN
Which popular STL club dee-jay was spotted getting their shopping on recently at
Aldi's Supermarket of Delmar and
Kingshighway in the Central West End of St Louis?

HINT 1. This dee-jay is a male

HINT 2. He is part of the Derrty DJs

HINT 3. He used to play "the beats" on the night shift on a popular radio station in the early 2000s

Who is he?

This week we highlight the Grammy Award winning and Hall of Fame inductees Isley Brothers (Ron and Ernie Isley). Both claim St Louis as their current residence and have different flair for style. Ernie, who';s moniker os Mr Biggs is more tux and cane (in the pic above he is sporting a gray pint striped suit and open white collar shirt with stiff collar) and his younger brother Ernie is more hippie  with his fashions (in the pic above he rocks a black doo rag with shades, gray pint striped vest and black slacks). Together they posses a mixture of formality and out of the box sensibility.

AT THE OSCARS.....Why did John Travolta butcher that singer's name who was about to perform? And why did he wear that hairpiece? Why did Ellen rip on Liza Minnelli calling her a drag queen? An why did Liza wear house slippers to the show? And why did she hug Oscar winner Lupita Nyung'o  for dear life when she won? Why did Kim Novak look spaced out onstage? Why did actor Michael B Jordan looked bored and pissed on stage presenting?
And why is the award show sooooo long?

MORE WHYS

Why did Brandon Howard claim Micheal Jackson is his father? And why was singer Miki Howard claimed as the mother? And why was the DNA test even reported as true when it was fake? Why is Robin Thicke using the stage to get back his wife? Why did that preacher ask his female congregation to remove their panties during service? Why did Lil Boosie get so much press for getting out of prison? Why is their a bacon smelling app for smartphones? And why are their two drive thru windows at some of these fast food spots and only one is used?
