\We will be remiss if we didn mention 18 year old  Chicago native tennis player Taylor Townshend who, in her first appearance in a Grand Slam tournament as a pro, beat France's top-seeded Townsend is the youngest American woman to reach the third round of the French Open since Ashley Harkleroad in 2003. Her winWednesday was a substantial upset. Townsend, who trains with Kamau Murray at XS Tennis in Kenwood and Zina Garrison in Maryland, is ranked 205th in the world

Springfield, Mo native Oscar winning actor Brad Pitt's new film, "Fury"a WWII drama co starring Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, and Michael Pena, had its debut minute and a half long featurette produced by Sony  this week at the E3 gaming expo in Hollywood. . The film is about an army sergeant (Pitt) and his five-man tank crew on a mission behind enemy lines, Fury" will arrive in theaters on Nov. 14.

On Sunday, Evanston. Ill native actress and singer Jessica  Mueller won a her first Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her role as legendary singer songwriter Carole King S in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical as Carole King.

Chitown native Grammy Award winning rap artist Lupe Fiasco opened up about being a Muslim rapper and his relationship with Jay Z and Kanye West ifrom his sit-down interview for Yahoo's digital Web series, World 3.0, with Katie Couric.

When asked by Couric if it was "challenging to be a Muslim and a rapper" given the industry's glorification of alcohol and drug use, he explained how he stays away from temptation. "It just depends on who you put yourself around," he said. "I'll see friends who smoke and unfortunately some friends who drink, and some other things that we're not supposed to be seeing or doing…at the end of the day we're human.

On how he linked with West, Fiasco noted that both are from the Windy City, and broke down how Hov came into the picture. "Jay Z invited us [West and I] out to come to New York and invited us to go to Roc-A-Fella," he recalled. "I took him as a mentor in a certain capacity, to the point where it developed into him executive producing my first album [Food & Liquor]."

Fiasco is currently working on his fifth album, Tetsuo & Youth. 

St Louis based restaurateurs Mike Emerson and Skip Steele, of Pappy's Smokehouse in midtown St. Louis, appeared on Wendy Williams' syndicated talk show his week (PICTURED Emerson with Williams when she visited St Louis last month promoting her upcoming season and new novel) Williams had lunch at their restaurant when she visited St Louis last month. Emerson and Steele were in NYC to participate in the "Big Apple Barbecue Block Party" in Madison Square Park.

St. Louis native Emmy nominated actor Jon Hamm will have his own St Louis Cardinals night at Busch Stadium  along with his own bobble head on Aug 18. . Hamm will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Cards taking on Cincinnati.

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Rapper Diddy dropped into town Sunday night to host event promoter Loosecannon Slim's birthday party at The Colliseum in St. Louis, and prior to attending, he stopped through Ballpark Village and ran into Cardinals sports legend Ozzie Smith. There, he took a pic with Smith and posted it on his Instagram and Twitterpage.  

Hmm, we wonder who had taken the pic?

(KTVI) – After 16 years at FOX 2 St. Louis,  feature reporter Tim Ezell has decided to leave and dedicate his time fully to the ministry.

In an note sent to the KTVI/KPLR staff, General Manager Spencer Koch said Tim will always be “remembered for possessing that soul, that passion to relate to the viewers, make them feel part of the show and feel welcome.”

Tim is currently the part-time Lead Pastor at ‘The Journey’ in South County and will now become the full time pastor of that church.

Tim’s last day is July 18th.  

R.I.P. BITZ

KTVI-FOX2 reported that St. Louis radio legend Lou "Fatha" Thimes has died at the age of 85, today, Thursday, according to his family. Thimes had been a mainstay on St. Louis radio for over 50 years. He is best known for his long run on KATZ AM 1600 playing blues and gospel. Thimes is the father of jazz singer Denise Thimes and radio personality Lou Thimes Jr., a.k.a. the Real J.R.

This week we feature St Louis based rap artist Peetey Weestro.

As a child he performed in many talent shows and began writing music at the age of 7.  

Beginning in 2002, PeeWee was performing all over the St. Louis area with his group 

Cut Klic. He departed from Cut Klic in 2011 to expand his own career. Peetey has been 

in InBox Magazine and continues to gain popularity. In 2012, he started Booyah! 

Entertainment LLC and released his first album, Pee Wee 4 Mayor. Gaining some buzz 

from the album, he followed up with his second album, Eyes Don't Lie. His 

single "Shut It Down" was featured on "Shaqs All Star Comedy Tour" and is 

currently gaining radio play.  He's has gained success in acting and modeling as well.
