The First Lady Michelle Obama, made an appearance on

BET's 106 & Park" program that aired Tuesday, talking

about her push for young people to commit to learning so

they can get into college and better their futures.

"I want all people to understand that there is nothing more important they will do for themselves than to focus on their education," Obama said . "It starts with taking high school seriously, doing your homework and being in class on time."

Obama, who walked onto the stage to raucous applause

sporting gray slacks, bright pink lipstick and a

stylish leather jacket, appeared as part of her expanded

focus on helping the U.S. achieve President Obama's

"North Star" goal, which aims for the country to have the

highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020.
\

The popular first lady didn't hesitate to encourage members

of the audience, primarily made up of young African-

American students, to work hard in school.

"I have to say, I was a pretty serious student … I wanted to

make sure that I didn't peak in high school. You don't want

your best days to be in high school," she said. "I wasn't

doing too much partying in high school, I was trying to get

myself into college."

"If I can do it, you all can do it," she added.

Obama also waded into what her own future may hold.

"I'm still discovering what I want to be. I'm still thinking

about what I want to do when I leave the White House," she

said.

But she wasn't shy about expressing what she missed about

the life she had before her husband was elected President.

"Anonymity," she said in response to an audience question

on the topic. "Being able to walk out your front door without

agents and … go to CVS to buy some toothpaste."

She also  admitted that she does regret that time she wore shorts on Air Force One because it caused "a huge stink."

The "stink" she's referring to happened in August 2009 when the Obama family was on vacation in Arizona. For a hot summer day touring the Grand Canyon, Michelle chose to wear a white tank, a checked button-up shirt, sneakers and a pair of casual gray shorts. The world got a look at her outfit as she exited Air Force One.

The fashion choice was subject to immediate backlash, she recalled, "because people were like, 'she's wearing shorts getting off of Air Force One.'" Michelle added, "Sometimes I forget I'm the first lady and I'm running around in shorts."
Michelle said she won't wear shorts on Air Force One again.

Chivago reared rap superstar Kanye West takes fiancĂ©e Kim

Kardashian for a wild, naked

joyride in his new “Bound 2” music video, in which the 33-

year-old reality star straddles her fully-clothed man while he

steers a motorcycle through a desert

.
The 36-year-old rapper debuted the provocative clip

The video starts by showing off the sexy silhouette of

Kardashian’s post-baby body as she is sprawled across the bike.
When West belts out the lyric “one good girl is worth a

thousand b--ches,” the parents of infant North West engage

in a steamy embrace and start making out.

A source gave an advance tease on Kardashian’s vixen role

in the video to Us Weekly on Monday, calling it “really sexy.”

“Kim looks beyond gorgeous,” the insider said. “It’s very

artsy, very beautiful.

“The imagery is very colorful and light,” the insider

continued. “Nothing about it feels pop or urban. She looks

incredible.”

DeGeneres questioned the notoriously erratic rapper

whether being a new father has made him more conscious

of how he expresses himself in public — then went one step

further, asking if he thinks the video, directed by Nick

Knight, comes off as “dirty.”

“No, I’m not as concerned with the idea of profanity or

nudity,” West said. “It’s more the messaging behind it.

R&B superstar R. Kelly made news with his provocative

performance with Lady gaga during her performance on

Saturday Nght Live last Saturday on their duet, “Do What U

Want” from her newly released album, ARTPOP.

Decked in a head-to-toe white suit, the Chicago native

swooped onstage and lifted Gaga up. As each verse

switched, so did Gaga and R. Kelly's positions. She bent

over with Kells behind her,. He grazed past body parts and

 Gaga straddled him.

Sliding around the stage, at one point Gaga completely laid

down and R. Kelly assumed a position on top of her. And

then did push-ups.

Her performance with R. Kelly, however, drew mixed reactions among critics.

"Gaga really brought the LOLZ when she was joined onstage by R. Kelly to perform their song 'Do What U Want, ' which involved the two singers, like, simulating really awkward sex. The dry humping! The pushups! The fumbling ass slapping! This is the strangest sexual encounter R. Kelly's had since, well, you know," The Frisky's Amelia McDonell-Parry wrote, referring to the R&B star's sex tape scandal.

The Daily Mirror's Zoe Shenton was equally amused, writing, "In a ridiculously OTT performance (what did we expect, really?), a sparkling catsuit-clad Lady Gaga and suited R. Kelly got very friendly with each other."

Likewise, Idolator's Carl Williott said the musicians displayed "sizzling chemistry" on stage. "At one point, R. Kelly climbed on top of Gaga and most viewers were surely bracing for something uncouth, and well, it didn't come to that. Kells merely did a couple push-ups over Gaga's writhing body."

Entertainment Weekly's Erin Strecker, meanwhile, left it to readers to decide whether the singer's duet was appropriate. "If you're going way too far on purpose, is it really way too far?" she pondered. "Watch R. Kelly join Lady Gaga onstage for 'Do What U Want' and decide."
Rap superstar Eminem shared his Rolling Stone cover shot on Wednesday that goes along with an in-depth interview reflecting upon his dark days with drugs and alcohol.
The 41-year-old St Joseph, Mo native rapper holds a boombox on his shoulders in his cover shot with the bold red headline Eminem Reborn.
The rapper talked about his dark days with drugs and future projects in the magazine hitting newsstands on Friday.
'I'm as happy as I can be, I guess,' he told Rolling Stone as he looked back on his life and career.
'Hip-hop saved my life, man. It’s the only thing I’ve ever been even decent at. I don’t know how to do anything else. I think they have a word for that — what do they call it? Idiot savant?' Eminem said.
The Slim Shady singer, real name Marshal Mathers III, has admitted to being hospitalised in 2005 from a methadone overdose.

'I relapsed on drugs. It was a little creepy. I certainly had some dark times with that s***, mostly due to taking a lot of pills and f****** drooling on myself. It was a s***** time,' he said.
'I know I probably shaved a few years off my life,' he added.
He also talked about the toll his career took on his marriage to ex-wife Kim Mathers and his relationship with 17-year-old daughter Hailie.
Eminem has been enjoying a bit of a renaissance lately as his recent single The Monster with fellow superstar Rihanna has been an international hit.
The singer earlier this month released his eighth studio album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album 200 ith first weeks sales of over 700,000 copies shipped.

Chicago native and Miami Heat Basketball Star Dwayne Wade's memoir, A Father First, is coming
to TV. The FOX network is developing Wade's life as a father into a sitcom titled Three The Hard Way. If the show is picked up, Wade says he won't star but may appear in a cameo. The NBA star also says he likes a mix of laughs and lessons like he saw on The Cosby Show.

The Sony Pictures Television entry -- titled Three the Hard Way -- is inspired by the life of the three-time NBA champion and gold medalist and centers on superstar Daryl Wade and his entourage of eccentric friends who find themselves parenting by committee after he gets full custody of his two young sons.

Also, Wade announced a collaboration with The Tie Bar on a new line of neckties, bowties and pocket squares.

St. Louis, Mo resident  and NFL veteran Dan Dierdorf, who followed a Hall of Fame career as an offensive lineman with a three-decade career as a broadcaster, is retiring.
CBS announced this week that this season will be Dierdorf’s last in the booth. The 64-year-old Dierdorf suggested that the physical difficulties of traveling each week are the primary reason he has decided to step aside.
“I have been blessed to spend my entire life in the game I love,” Dierdorf said in a statement. “I had an opportunity to go from the field directly to the broadcast booth where I have had the privilege of working with the giants of our business including Ray Scott, Lindsey Nelson, Jack Buck, Dick Stockton, Al Michaels, Frank Gifford, Verne Lundquist, Dick Enberg and lastly, my partner, Greg Gumbel. It has become a challenge for me to travel to a different NFL city every week, so it’s time to step aside. This has been a wonderful ride as I really have lived the dream.”
After an All-American career at Michigan, Dierdorf was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1971. He had a 13-year career, was chosen to six Pro Bowls and was elected to both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His broadcasting career began as soon as his playing career ended, meaning this is his 43rd consecutive year in the NFL.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals have traded former World Series MVP David Freese to the Los Angeles Angels in a four-player deal.
The Cardinals also sent reliever Fernando Salas to the Angels on Friday in exchange for outfielder Peter Bourjos and prospect Randal Grichuk.
The 30-year-old Freese was the MVP of the 2011 NLCS and the World Series, setting a major-league record with 21 postseason RBI. He injured his back chasing a foul ball into the stands during spring training and never hit his stride last season.
The Chicago Bears are set to hit the road to take on the St. Louis Rams in Week 12 on Sunday. Chicago (6-4) is atop the NFC North, in a tie with the Detroit Lions. The Bears managed a win in Week 11, besting the Baltimore Ravens in overtime, while the Lions lost a game they were expected to win, falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers. St. Louis (4-6) has struggled on both sides of the ball this season, but dominated the Indianapolis Colts in their last outing.
Busch Stadium was the venue for the third international soccer game as Argentina  won over Bosnia 2-0  Monday night From reports, there were thousands of St Louis resident Bosnians who attended as well as many attendees from Europe visiting relatives in the city.

A St. Louis Cardinals spokesman said there were more than 30,000 tickets sold, not counting a significant walk-up crowd tonight.  Economic experts estimated $3 million worth of direct and indirect spending on a night when Busch Stadium would have otherwise been empty.
A spokeswoman for the mayor said the true impact was priceless given the international flair highlighting St. Louis’s cultural image.

It didn’t hurt having a Bosnian soccer star  — number 9 – who used to live and play here; first at Roosevelt High School and then St. Louis U.
“With a guy like Vedad Ibisevic playing, people around the world know that guy.  He’s called St. Louis home.  So it’s now like this home town team right here in St.  Louis even though we’re talking about half a world away,” said Maggie Crane, a spokeswoman for Mayor Francis Slay.

From another report, the crowd was the smallest for the three matches in St. Louis this year. After a crowd of 48,263 fans saw Manchester City and Chelsea meet in May and then 54,814 were at the Edward Jones Dome for a match between Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

This week we feature STL native poet Fofeet . Here she is sporting golden brown locks that compliments her skin. Fofeet (whose real name is Debra Warren) is one of the vets in the spoken word poetry game ho just released her newest book of poetry Fables Uplifted.

Why does it seem as though George Zimmerman is trying to get in trouble with the police? Why is Charles Manson getting married? Why was singer
Adam Levine chosen as the Sexiest Man Alive in People Magazine?
Why did Miley Cyrus blonde up her eyebrows? Why are people making a fuss over Jennifer Lawrence's haircut? Why was Rihanna chosen as the first to receive the Icon Award from the American Music Awards? And why does Morris Chestnut seem to be very uncomfortable with his sex symbol image?

Former St Louis resident music superstar Tina Turner is no longer American. The U.S. Embassy in Bern, Switzerland confirms this week that she was in the embassy in late October to sign her “Statement of Voluntary Relinquishment of U.S. Citizenship.” Still, this was a long time coming.

Turner had announced the step in January. After her long-time residency there and marriage to German record executive Erwin Bach, it makes sense. And while it doubtless wasn’t tax motivated, our tax system doesn’t exactly help.

Turner retired from the concert stage in 2009. She moved to Switzerland in 1995 when her longtime partner, Mr. Bach, was transferred.

Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock, lives in the Zurich suburb of Kuesnacht. She needed approval from the canton of Zurich as well as Swiss federal authorities before receiving the red Swiss passport.

From other reports, it as speculation that Turner’s move came for tax reasons. She became a Swiss national in April and, according to an Oct. 24 U.S. Embassy “activity report,”  has declared  that she no longer has any strong ties to the United States and “has no plans to reside” here in the future.

St Joseph, Mo native rap superstar Eminem's new album, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" is giving the rapper's original 2000 "Marshall Mathers LP" a run for its money. Slim Shady's latest offering hit stores on Nov. 5 and is already proving hugely successful.
"The Marshall Mathers LP 2" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Em one of his most successful first sales weeks in recent history. The album also earned Eminem the second-highest sales week of the year, falling only to the premiere of Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience."

Led by the first songs off of the album, "Berzerk" and "Rap God," the "MMLP2" singles are dominating as well, Billboard reports. Eminem currently counts 10 songs on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The rapper's collaboration with Rihanna, "The Monster," leads at No. 1, followed by his "Rap God" at No. 2. Eminem continues his entries on the chart with "Berzerk" at No. 7, "Survival" at No. 10, "Beautiful Pain" at No. 30, "Love Game" at No. 31, "Headlights" at No. 35, "Bad Guy" and No. 38, "Rhyme or Reason" at No. 41, and "Legacy" at No. 44.
In the past, st Louis bred rap superstar Nelly has expressed hisfrustration with a group of protesters who boycotted his 2004 bone marrow drive at Spelman College due to his sexually explicit music video, “Tip Drill.” The planned drive was in support of his sister, Jacqueline Donahue, who later lost her battle to leukemia in 2005.
And while the multi-platinum rapper may have been mum on the college’s protest in recent years, today during an appearance on HuffPost Live he revealed the one thing he would’ve done differently in retrospect to the demonstration.
“The Spelman thing, the only thing I feel I would’ve did different is kick somebody’s ass…that’s just how it felt to me, Pimp,” he said to host Marc Lamont Hill. “I don’t have my sister. And I doubt it if half of those girls are still campaigning for what they quote, unquote took advantage for that opportunity for.”

“You [protesters] robbed me of a opportunity. Unfairly, my brother. Because we could’ve still had your conversation after I got my opportunity, but it could’ve been somebody that was coming to that bone marrow drive that day, that was possibly a match for my sister. That didn’t come because of that…”

Oscar Winner Jennifer Hudson has been immortalized. The singer, who was introduced to the world on America Idol, just got a star on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame. With her fiance Pro Wrestler David “Punk”
Otunga and her son David, Jr. in tow, and
Jennifer's sister Julia was there too, and was seen posing for a family picture together.

Read mo
Hudson was toasted by Jacob Latimore, Clive Davis and Raphael Saadiq.
The singer reported;ly grew visibly emotional while accepting the award, and was seen wiping her nose with a tissue at one point.

Hudson will be co-starring in the movie Black Nativity, which opens in theatres November 27th.

Chicgao native and St Louis reared supermodel Karlie

Kloss was reportedly the highlight  at the Victoria's Secret

Fashion Show 2013, which taped in downtown NYC on

Wednesday, Nov. 13 in advance of next month's annual

special on CBS. Strutting down the runway alongside such

women as Behati Prinsloo, Adriana Lima, Alessandro

Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge and other

 impossibly toned, beautiful catwalkers,

The showstopper was reportedly during the finale, Kloss sashayed past Taylor Swift (singing "I Knew You Were Trouble") on the glittery catwalk in an equally glittery, sheer, skintight catsuit that recalled the likes of similarly revealing looks by Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears, among others. Earlier in the show, during the "British Invasian" segment, Kloss was a "Psychedelic Angel," working custom-painted wings, Victoria's Secret Designer Collection Bra and Very Sexy Cheekini bottoms. For a nautical-themed "Shipwrecked" segment of the show, the brunette, wore Drift Wood Wings, Victoria's Secret Designer Collection Bra and Matching Panty.

Tune in to the 2013 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.

Fresh off his collaboration with Lady Gaga, Chicago native R&B superstar R. Kelly is hopping in the studio with another pop superstar.

On Wednesday (November 13), the same day he released

a teaser trailer for his upcoming movie, "Believe," Justin

Bieber confirmed that he and the Chicago singer have

teamed up for some music coming "next week."

In atweet, the 19-year-old linked to a Vibe magazine article in which Kelly reveals the pair are working together.

"I just did a song [with him]," R. Kelly told the magazine during a private listening for his upcoming album, Black Panties. "[Justin] just called me to do a song, and it's hot. He wanted to go and do some R&B stuff, so we got together and did that."

Kansas City, Mo native actor Don Cheadle is taking on the role of jazz pioneer Miles Davis in a new film.
Ewan McGregor and Zoe Saldana will also star in Kill the Trumpet Player, BiFrost Pictures has announced. The film will tell the story of a few dangerous days in the life of Miles Davis as he bursts out of his silent period and conspires with aRolling Stone writer (McGregor) to steal back his music.
Cheadle will also make his feature directorial debut from a script co-written with Steven Baigelman.
"Don is one of our generation's greatest actors, and this is the role he was born to play," says BiFrost principal Daniel Wagner in a statement. "His take on the conventional biopic of one of music's most celebrated icons is cinematic 'jazz' and too unique to resist. It fits naturally with BiFrost's commitment to support talent and their passion projects, so we are thrilled to work with Don on his feature directorial debut."

Chicago native actor Terrence Howard went on Watch What Happens Live last night. Although nominally pitching his role in The Best Man Holiday, Howard wound up taking a question about a role from half a decade ago. The actor originated the role of James Rhodes in Iron Man — but he didn’t return for the sequels, which saw Don Cheadle play the character in ever-more-elaborate robo-suits.

Reports at the time indicated that Howard departed over a salary dispute. As reported by EW’s Nicole Sperling, Howard actually made more than Downey on the first Iron Man. (That was then and this is now.) But Howard layered in some juicy new accusations. “The person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out,” he explains in the video. When the studio offered him a much smaller fee for an Iron Man sequel, Howard claims he called the actor in question — he never names Downey, but connect the dots here people — for help. “He didn’t call me back for three months,” says Howard.

The 22nd edition of the St. Louis International Film Festival is double-stuffed with goodies. There are family-friendly free events, Hollywood-blockbuster previews, hands-on training sessions and special guests galore.
The most notable guest this year is director Oliver Stone, who will receive a lifetime achievement award on a very special date: Nov. 22, the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. St Louis Post Dispatch movie critic Joe Williams who has written a book on the subject, will conduct a Q&A with Stone at 7 p.m. at the Tivoli before a screening of his epic “JFK.”
An award-winner with local ties is documentarian A.J. Schnack, who kicked off the festival Nov. 14 with his music-minded Branson flick “We Always Lie to Strangers.” (There is an encore screening at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville.) Schnack, a Metro East native who is receiving the Charles Guggenheim Award for local luminaries, has another film at the fest, the political-campaign documentary “Caucus,” screening at 6:45 p.m. Friday at Plaza Frontenac.
