                           One of the co-hosts for the hip-hop showcase was comedian Willie C
                                  who warmed up the crowd with his St Louis based humor.

             The other co-host was model/event host Aaliyah Rampage who engaged the crowd
                                  with a call and response mantra "Coming Up--Next Up."

   First up was rapperSurge Jordan who performed his single, "H20"

                                               His energetic performance got the crowd on 10.

                                Next up was singer Amber Woods who performed her single, "Broke."

                                   Her dance added performance kept the crowd enteratained.

                                  Next was Centerville, Ill based rapper  Smoove Life who performed 
                                                                   his single, "Wazzup."

                                    He brought his style of rap to the crowd--east side style.

                Next up was singer Laurie B who performed a cover of Beyonce's "Dangerously In Love."

Although her vocals were a bit imitative of Beyonce's her performance was attentive.

One of the highlights was rapper Sergio Husband who performed two songs--
"The Cycle" and "Nine."

His introspective performance was thought provoking fueled by his biographical lyrics
of growing up in his neighborhood.

                             Rampage interviewed Husband briefly regarding his performance.

                                                          Next up was singer Destini.

                                  She brought a Ciara styled performance to the stage.

                                Willie C changed up his gear for the second half of the show.

Another highlight was rapper  Carleone who performed two singles, "See Me Baby"
and "Bed Wet."

                              He was explosive on stage with his dance frenzied performance.

                                       Next up was rapper BU who performed "Kaya"

                                       He was on point with his laid back performance.

Next up was rapper Rip James  who performed "OMW" and "The Sky's With Me."

                                        His performance was engaging as the crowd looked on.

Another highlight was singer Jones Boy who performed a rock edged song, "All Day,"
"Whatever it Takes" and "Blessings."

                        His set included a rock guitarist that added a different tone to his set.

Next was rapper Kurral  who performed "Odie" and "Right Then"

                                        He also was engaging as the crowd looked on.

Next up was rapper Lou Kang who performed "Odie" and "Right Then"

                               Kang and his crew was definitely turning up on stage.

During their set they thanked all the talent who came on stage before them.

Willie C who changed back in his first outfit and Rampage who came out in a see through
black dress with black unitard.

The last act was Chukk Fresh who performed a couple of songs including,"OMW"

                                                The group was on their A game.

                                                                 Rap jabbing.

                                        They also thanked everyone for their support.

One of the promoters of the hip hop showcase was Thomas "Cash"Cohnes who thanked everyone for coming out to the first show of the Next Up Series. He also thanked Wrist Factor who helped financially with the event.

Atty Daniel Brown of Wrist Factor thanked the crowd for coming and said that it was
great to have seen all the acts stay to see the other performers perform because "most 
of the time when someone performs then they leave," 




NOTE: Overall this was a good showcase for up and coming or "next" hip-hop and R&B acts.The turnout was quite impressive as well especially for a Sunday event that wasnt highlighted by a national act. At the end of the show guests were given a So St Louis goodie bag which included Red Hot Chips, a Vess soda and a mix-CD of most of the artists who performed that nite which was an added touch.

As reported by the Inquisitr, fans of the Fox TV show called Empire can rest assured that they are not cancelled, despite rumors floating around the web from fake news websites saying that the second season of Empire was cancelled due to producer salary issues. Now stars of the runaway hit show are weighing in on Twitter, too, telling their fans not to worry about the cancellation hoax rumors.

When Jovon Lee (@LeeJovon) asked Jussie Smollett if the second season of Empire was really cancelled, Smollett responded on Twitter that it was indeed a hoax.

Additionally, the @EmpireFOX Twitter account responded when Jayme Hoffman expressed her disappointment at hearing rumors of the cancellation. Hoffman even offered to start a petition to bring the second season of the show back to TV.

“Is season 2 really cancelled?? Is there any way to petition or raise money for it? Empire is the best show I’ve ever seen!”

According to Gossip Cop, the rumors about the second season of Empire being cancelled were perhaps begun by a site called the New York Times News, which has nothing to do with the New York Times. Indeed, the Facebook page for the hoax news site shows the story titled “Fox Cancels The Hit Show Empire Just After 1 Season!” has been shared on Facebook nearly 6,000 times — and the blog post on their website claims to have been viewed more than 130,000 times.

Folks are still tweeting up a storm about the Empire cancellation rumors, with some people realizing it’s a hoax, whilst others think it’s true. The Twitter account of Taraji P. Henson has yet to address the cancellation rumors as of this time.

Not only is the second season of Empire in full swing — with Empire producer Brian Grazer hoping to land Eminem on Season 2 of the show, according to Billboard, — there’s also lots of buzz online about which stars may appear. Kanye West told fans that if you see his latest routine on Empire, you’ll know he did it first.

Rap superstar  Kanye West reportedly stunned a crowd of dignitaries Tuesday with a performance art-infused 20-minute set at the annual TIME 100 gala honoring the most influential people in the world.

Bathed in an orange-yellow light and flanked by several shirtless men covered in white chalk, West reportedly took the stage to James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” before kicking his set off with his new single “All Day,” from his upcoming album, So Help Me God.

He followed with three tracks from 2013’s Yeezus — “Black Skinhead,” “New Slaves” and Amy Schumer favorite “Blood on the Leaves” — before moving on to “Runaway” and “Only One,” which was inspired by his late mother and his daughter with wife Kim Kardashian, who was also in attendance.

He reportedly closed out his set with a few of his older favorites, such as “Good Life” and “Gold Digger,” but stopped “Touch the Sky” midway and asked everyone in the audience to get on their feet before he continued. 

“It was an incredible performance,” supermodel Karlie Kloss told TIME afterward. “He knows how to work a room.

We all know Ye by now as far as his demanding things so telling people to get on their feet was no surprise. But does it seem a bit contrived though as though the crowd didnt have a choice to enjoy his performance? We are just sayin. LOL

 for scrubbing his Twitter account of all 

references to his pal Jay Z's music streamer Tidal and then adding more support 

for it.

“The love of music is louder than words,” he tweeted Wednesday night.

West was one of the many music superstars, along with Beyoncé, Rihanna, Madonna and Nicki Minaj, who attended Tidal’s star-studded launch last month, and  when he removed his original tweets and the service logo promoting the service, it was a bit head scratching.

Reports claim it could have happened becasue of the news of Tidal's middling launch; it dropped out of iTunes’s Top 700 most-downloaded apps chart this week. Another was possibly that Jay Z and Beyoncé plan to release a joint album exclusively on Tidal, a move that could bolster the flailing company.

Hmm, interesting. Well one thing for sure, 

something caused him to change his mind.

And in more Ye newz, he and wife Kim Kardashian  have been authorized to proceed with their lawsuit against YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley, a California appeals court ruled Wednesday.According to an AP report, Hurley posted footage of West’s 2013 proposal to Kardashian—which took place at San Francisco’s AT&T Park—on his website MixBit despite having a confidentiality agreement in place. The leak appeared before the proposal aired on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

The couple filed the suit in March of 2014, at which point Hurley claimed the confidentiality agreement did not apply to MixBit. Hurley’s lawyer Rodger Cole added that his client’s First Amendment and free speech rights allowed him to have posted the video.

However, the 2nd District court of Appeal in Los Angeles declared that some of Hurley’s suit “lacks merit,” and West and Kardashian could win a case based on claims of fraud, unjust enrichment, and breach of contract. 

Kansas City, Mo native and Emmy Award winning actor/former SAG president  Ed Asner will be very busy on TV projects this year. He recently was seen on On Criminal Minds, playing Hotch's (Thomas Gibson) father-in law, Roy Brooks, who's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.  It's Asner's second guest appearance this year on CBS. He recently played a perverted liberal billionaire on The Good Wife.

According to imdb.com, the 85-year-old actor has 12 more projects lined up for 2015. Several of the projects require just Asner’s voice as narrator including the documentary The Gettysburg Address, and the animatedYamasong: March of the Hollows with Abigail Breslin and Whoopi Goldberg. Asner will also appear on camera for an intriguing family Western titledBoonville Redemption with conservative Christian singer Pat Boone and Laura Dern's mother Diane Ladd.

ADD: Chicago native and Oscar winning rapper/actor Common is the latest actor to be cast in Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming super-villain film Suicide Squad.Warner Bros. has not yet divulged Common's role in the DC Comicsfilm, THR reports, but it's only a matter of time before we hear more.

Common will join Jared Leto's Joker, as well as Will Smith's Deadshot and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, with David Ayer directing. 

Suicide Squad is currently in production in Toronto and is set to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.

Rap mogul Nelly will start touring on the Main Event Tour 

with NKOTB and TLC starting May 1 in Las Vegas. As far as 

any Illinois or Missouri dates, he will be in St Louis on May 22

 at Scott Trade Center and May 23 and 24 in Rosemint, Ill at

 the All State Arena. The tour ends during the NKOTB 

Cruise in October, 

The talk these days with Nelly is no doubt his recent arrest on drug charges on his tour bus and his hearing on June 19 during the middle of this tour.  His attorneys are saying he will be exonerated of all charges, but if he isn't then we wonder what the tour managers will do as far as his spot on the tour. Only time will tell. His hearing is June 19.

Speaking of Nelly, he and former St Louis rap artist Tiffany are gearing for their roles on two popular reality shows. Just this Monday, Tiffany Foxx made her debut on the shoe Love and Hip Hop:Atlanta (where she currently resides) on VH1 and Nelly and his family is set for Season 2 the reality series, Nellyville" will begin airing May 5 on BET,

Our question is if the producers will mention Nelly's arrest on the show. We doubt it because it goes against his family image that he portrays

ADD:Tony Award winning Mike N Molly star and Dixon, Ill native actress Rondi Reed guest starred in this week's epsiode of Scandal .  In an epsiode titled,  "First Lady Sings the Blues," she plated a former KGB spy Black Sable/Mary Peterson who Olivia Pope sought to help from getting murdered for not killing an enemy of the KGB as a favor for a Russian doctor who helped save Jake. from a murder attempt.

ADD: Gospel duo Mary Mary's reality show's episode this week focused on their telling fans that they were breaking up and they  done it during their visit and  farewell performance concert in St Louis.Mo. The episode titled "Out with a Bang,"  the episode shows the group on KPLR TV getting interviewed with Melanie Moon to  promote the show and peforming at the Chaifetz Arena  that had taken place last October,  The episode aired on We TV. 

The 2010 and 2013 Stanley Cup champs Chicago Blackhawks  were defeated by the Hawks 5-2 at Bridgestone Arena. The Hawks still lead the series 3-2 with Game 6 at the United Center on Saturday.

UPDATE:Blackhawks won Saturdays game 4 to 3. So they advance to the second round of the semifinals and play the Wild.  The Blackhawks will have home-ice advantage and the series will begin in Chicago.As of Monday, April 27,  Dates and times have not yet been announced.The winner of that series will move on to the Western Conference Final to face either the Calgary Flames or Anaheim Ducks.

The St Louis Blues are in the playoffs against the Minnesota 

Wild and  the Blues won Game 4, 6-1, to even the opening 

round series  2-2. This marks the Wild's worst playoff loss in 

franchise history.

The casting directors of  CBS' "Big Brother" will be casting for his upcoming season this Saturday  from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Chesterfield Mall. Only 200 people will be able to audition, with wristbands given out starting at 7 a.m. The casting site is across from the New York & Co. store.

• Your driver's license or state-issued ID.

• A passport or Social Security card.

• Two photos, one face and one full-body.

They will have extra applications on hand and will be able to make copies of your IDs if needed. They will also have a photographer on hand to take photos if you do not have head shots. Your audition will be recorded and sent to the producers. 

Jazz aficionado and radio personality Don Wolff  will be honored with the Jazz Hero Award April 30 at the Ferring Jazz Bistro in Grand Center. Wolff has been named as one of 24 national "Jazz Heroes" by the Jazz Journalists Association and the first St Lousian to be honored from the association.  The event is hosted by Jazz St. Louis and is free and open to the public.

This year's Visionary Awards will take place Monday April 27 at The Sun Theater in Grandel Square Theater. At the event, seven women  from the St Louis area will be honored for their work in the arts. I was going to see if I wanted to risk my life and go to club Society to check out Kyjuan’s B-day party at Club Society. I’m glad I didn’t cause I hear that over 2,000 people were trying to crowd up in the two story club. And that is bananas! I Up in there was Nelly, and Lil Wayne (who performed, but the rest of the guests (Rich Boy, Jim Jones, etc.) couldn’t even get in and I heard they went to the east Side to wreck havoc over at Blackmon’s Plaza and the club over there had to close early (which was about 3 in the morning and it closes at 6 ) . that was too much playin. The rappers were in town for a concert up at Scott Trade center.

STL rap superstar Nelly and professional cagefighter Jermaine Andre were on tap for BET's martial arts reality series "Iron Ring" which premiered
last Tuesday. On the show, the celebrity“owners” interact with their gladiators between rounds – and sometimes right in the middle of them. Each week, as top competitors enter the battle zone to face off, using the combined techniques of jiu-jitsu,judo, karate, boxing, kickboxing and wrestling,viewers will witness true-to-life, bone-crushing,face-smashing sports entertainment unlike anything ever seen before. Only the strong will survive! Nelly was the celebrity owners of fighters Eric Marriott, Darryl Cobb, and Mike Cook and Jeremaine Andre was the coach. Chitown native Jennifer Hudson (PICTURE bywww.nydailynews.com) performed last Thursday at the Fox (as Robin Thicke as the co-headliner who opened the show) to a sold out crowd (SEE OUT 600 FOR PICS) . According to reported sources, the Oscar and Grammy winner performed near hour set singing songs from her debut CD, " including her #1 hit, “Spotlight,” the current single, “If it Isnt Love” and her newest sngle, “Pocketbook” as well as the gospel cut, “You Pulled Me Through” along with movie music from "Dreamgirls" (“ One Night Only,” I Love You I Do” and the finale, “And I AM Telling You”) She also did cover songs by Aretha (“Giving Him Something he Can Feel”) and Chaka (“Sweet Thing.” ) She also had her female cousins as her background singers who also got a chance to perform. At the start of her show, she quickly thanked fans for helping pull her through her family tragedy in Chicago last October . But the buzz that was goin’ on was whether she was preggo. With some of the outfifts she wore, her midsection could have been showing a possible bump. Oh and neither Hudson or Thicke attended any afterparties in town. On Saturday, she returned to her hometown to perform at the Arie Crown Theatre. There, she was reportedly just a few minutes away from where her mother, brother and nephew were murdered six months ago. The Chicago stop comes at the end of the first leg of Hudson's first roughly six-week, 19-city tour. It is her first tour.

THIS WEEK 2011

Legendary St. Louis Cardinals player Lou Brock and his wife, Jacqueline, was on hand to the unveiling of his likeness in a bronze statue form at LindenwoodUniversity’s Lou Brock Stadium Monday.

Brock said he hopes that students will be inspired to work hard when they walk past the statue. "One of the greatest attributes in competition is to be able to outlast your opponent," he said. "If you can't outlast your opponent, you'll be in second place."

The bronze statue, which was created by St. Louis sculptor Harry Weber , depicts Brock's famous pop-up slide. Also there were John Mozeliak and Albert Pujols.

Brock and his wife are involved with Lindenwood University and raise money for an annual scholarship at the school.

Rocker and gun advocate Ted Nugent came under scrutiny after making incendiary comments about the U.S. president at a recent National Rifle Association convention held in St Louis last weekend 

He said "If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," he said. "If you can't go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil, America-hating administration, I don't even know what you're made of."

In response to Nugent's remarks, Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary in a statement, "We are aware of the incident with Ted Nugent, and we are conducting appropriate follow-up." He added, "We recognize an individual's right to freedom of speech but we also have a responsibility to determine and investigate intent."

Although fans have been speculating, nobody connected to Scandal has made an official statement regarding Kansas City, Mo native Columbus Short's  space there until today.
