(Reuters) - The ABC's long-running morning talk show "The View" will undergo a facelift when it returns next season after Chitown native comedian Sherri Shepherd said she was leaving the program and Chitown native Jenny McCarthy tweeted she may also depart.

The departures come a month after Barbara Walters, who created the show in 1997, recorded her final program as co-host. The 84-year-old long-time anchor and prime time interviewer announced her retirement from ABC on "The View" in 2013, but said she will make special appearances for the network.

"It's been seven wonderful years on 'The View' and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on," Shepherd said in a statement to the site Deadline Hollywood.

Jenny McCarthy, an actress who joined the show last year, tweeted shortly afterward "If Sherri goes....I go too."

The show's moderator Whoopi Goldberg is expected to return for the season that starts in September. Goldberg joined the show in 2007, replacing comedian Rosie O'Donnell.

A spokeswoman for ABC, a unit of Walt Disney, had no comment.

Word on the street was Shepherd and McCarthy were going
to be fired soon after their boss, Barbara Walters, retired
from the show and they saved face by saying they were
leaving. Hmm interesting.

(CNN) -- The force was with Chicago. The

Windy City beat out

other cities, including a contentious

battle against San

Francisco, winning the bid to build an

interactive museum for

"Star Wars" creator George Lucas.

"This is a milestone for the city," Chicago

Mayor Rahm Emanuel

said Tuesday after the decision was

announced. "This is a

tremendous opportunity for the city."

The decision was a stunning upset for

San Francisco. Lucas

has plenty of ties to the Bay Area. He's

from Modesto, California,

and built his Skywalker ranch complex in

Marin County north of the

city. He started other ventures over the

years also based in the Bay

Area, including Lucasfilm Ltd.

Lucas said in a news release Tuesday

that choosing Chicago over

San Francisco was the "right decision

for the museum, but a difficult

decision for me personally because of

my strong personal and

professional roots in San Francisco."

San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee said

there was a lot of support

for the Lucas museum in his city. But

Lee also said he understood

why the iconic movie producer searched

for sites in other cities for

the cultural center.

"The Presidio Trust unwisely rejected

Mr. Lucas' proposal for a site

near Crissy Field, which ... forced Mr.

Lucas to look to cities like

Chicago, and put San Francisco's

chance at landing the museum

in jeopardy," Lee said in a statement

The location for the future Lucas Museum

of Narrative Art in

Chicago, along the city's famed lakefront

as part of what's known

as the museum campus, was a deciding

factor. Chicago was

chosen "because of the quality of the site

proposed by the city's

task force. The 17-acre site offers

unparalleled visitor access,"

a news release said.

The campus is already home to the

Shedd Aquarium,

the Field Museum and the Adler

Planetarium.

Lucas' wife, Mellody Hobson, also calls

Chicago home. She's

the president of Chicago-based Ariel

Investments and sits

on numerous corporate boards.

Hmm, wonder how much influence his wife had to do
with the choice of location.

BET has begun to tease the

performers who will be

appearing at the 2014

BET Awards on Sunday

June 29 at 8 p.m. ET.

One of the performers will be

Chicago native and current

resident singer/actress Jennifer

Hudson. Others incude

Pharrell Williams, Usher, Drake,

Lil Wayne, Trey Songz and

Lionel Richie to name a few.

It will be hosted by Chris Rock.

In other J Hud newz, The Oscar-winning actress has a no-

nonsense bedside manner as a nurse in the

The movie, that was in theaters and available on video

on demand earlier this month, stars

Garrett Hedlund as Jonathan, whose dying father

(Richard Jenkins) decides to take himself

off life support in a matter of 48 hours. And that

means only two days to get in a whole

bunch of reconciliation and redemption among the

family Jonathan's grown apart from,

including his sister (Jessica Brown Findlay), mom

(Anne Archer) and ex-girlfriend (Amy Adams).

It also stars her Winnie co-star and Chicago native

actor Terrence Howard.

The Hollywood Wlak of Fame committee announced

30 people who will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk

of Fame.

Two of the 30 are ILLIMOians. One is St Louis native

and legendary comedian-actor-activist Dick Gregory.

The other is

Plainfield, Ill native actress Melissa Mccarthy.

They will receive

their stars sometime next year

Speaking of Melissa McCarthy she attended a special

screening of her next film that she produced, Tammy, held

at the

Landmark Sunshine Cinema on

Thursday in New York City.

The Emmy Award winning and Oscar nominated

actress was joined by her hubby

and director of the flick and Carbondale, Ill bred

Ben Falcone. The film, which

tells the story bout a woman who after losing

her job and learning that her husband has

been unfaithful, hits the road with her profane,

hard-drinking grandmother,

hits theaters July 20.

From reports from stltoday,com, beginning June 30, veteran news personality Larry Conners
will become the full-time, nighttime host on KTRS-AM 550.

Conners would reportedly be on from 9 p.m. to midnight CST, Mondays through Fridays.
Conners’ made headlines last year when he was fired from KMOV TV after he reportedly implied on
Facebook that he may have been targeted by the IRS after interviewing President Barack Obama in
2012 and put a gag order on him forcing him not being able to be employed for a length of time.
Conners countersued on the grounds of age discrimination.

Conners will reporetedly replace Scott Sherman, a lawyer who will continue as a fill-in host and
regular guest to discuss legal matters.

Good for KTRS. We think hiring Conners is a good fit.
