This week VOGUE released its April 2014 issue with couple Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. Since then the cover has caused controversy mainly on how the couple got on the cover.
West had "begged" publisher/editor Anna Wintour t to give the cover spot to his fiancee. The rapper even publicly railed against the publication for not tapping Kardashian sooner.
"There's no way Kim Kardashian shouldn't be on the cover of Vogue right now," West told Ryan Seacrest in October 2013. "She's like the most intriguing woman right now. She's got Barbara Walters calling her like every day. And collectively, we're the most influential with clothing."
Radar Online reported that Wintour "loathed" Kardashian and her notorious reality TV clan, but happened to love the Grammy-winning rapper and fashion designer.
Soon after the cover debuted online, Wintour addressed the haters in her an open letter.
"Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it," she wrote (via TooFab). "I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?)"
"As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancee on Vogue's cover. He did nothing of the sort," she added. "The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn't true.
"There's barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian Wests haven’t been able to master, and for good reason: Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world’s spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that."
Wintour may feel justified in putting KIMYE on the April cover ofVogue, but not everybody is buying it — and some are threatening not to buy the magazine anymore.
On Friday, Sarah Michelle Gellar , star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Crazy Ones, registered her displeasure via Twitter. "Well ... I guess I'm canceling my Vogue subscription. Who's with me?" Over 5,500 followers retweeted the sentiment; another 7,300 favorited it.
Ex-Deadline blogger Nikki Finke , ever the rabble-rouser, issued a couple of tweets on the matter. She suggested the April issue should have come with a barf bag and that Wintour is past her expiration date.
The bottom line is this.....people arent buying magazines and having KIMYE on the cover is going to draw people to the magazine, either in print or online...and that means people buying it. Even if Ms Wintour is being PR friendly, she knows that the couple will get people talking---good and bad....and it worked.
TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland and The Soul Man returned this
week with special live season premiere episodes on
including crossover ILLIMO guest stars Betty White (who's
from Oak Park, Ill) and Cedric the Entertainer (who's from
Jefferson City, Mo via St. Louis, Mo).
TV Land’s sitcom Hot in Cleveland was back for Season 5
on Wednesday, kicking off with a live episodeThe new
season finds friends Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli), Joy (Jane
Leeves) and Victoria (Wendie Malick), and their feisty
landlady Elka (Betty White), trying to digest some shocking
news from Melanie’s doctor. The episode also featured an
appearance by The Soul Man‘s Rev. Boyce Ballentine
(played by Cedric the Entertainer).
Then it was followed bythe live Season 3 premiere of The
Soul Man, starring Cedric the Entertainer as the Rev. Boyce
Ballentine, an R&B star turned minister, and St Louis bred
actress Niecy Nash as his wife, Lolli. Season 2 wrapped up
with Boyce back in the recording studio, and a TV
newsmagazine show revealing what Boyce’s family and
friends really think of him. Making a crossover guest
appearance was Betty White as her Hot in
Cleveland character, Elka. Martin Lawrence also made a
guest appearance as Rudy, Boyce’s former drummer who
helps to bring the band back together. And Brandy Norwood
guest starred as Rita, one of Boyce’s former backup
dancers. Grammy-nominated artist B.o.B joined Cedric the
Entertainer for musical performance to close out the live
show.
From reports, during the episodes of both shows, White and Cedric, as Elka and Boyce exchanged barbs about each other entertainment personas, with "Boyce" saying that Rue McClanahan was the funniest "Golden Girl" to which Elka deadpanned her response, "I never watched that show." White starred on the hit sitcom back in the 80s.
Elka" took jabs at Cedric's day job as host of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," saying that she wanted to watch her favorite show "Family Feud" hosted by Steve Harvey. As most know, Cedric and Harvey are friends and began their friendship together the stand up comedy circuit, touring as "The Kings of Comedy."
There were also happenings that occurred during and after the shows:
- Cedric The Entertainer surprised the "Cleveland" audience by entering for his scene from the opposite side of the studio, nailing his lines and then dashing out to get ready for his own show's live episode.
- The cast answers audience questions during the breaks.
- The cast and crew have just as much fun taping the show as the audience does watching it.
- After the episode was done, the cast had a champagne toast to celebrate.
This weekend, Oscar nominated and Chicago native actor
Terrence Howard will be seen on the big screen again this
time with Arnold Schwarzenegger on the action thriller
SABOTAGE. The plot entails members of an elite DEA task
force finding themselves being taken down one by one
after they rob a drug cartel safe house. Howard plays
Julius 'Sugar' Edmonds a smooth talking member of the
DEA team.
The film has received negative reviews from critics. The film-
critic aggregator Rotten Tomatoes lists 21% positive reviews
based on 54 reviews, with an average score of 4.2/10. The
site's consensus states: "Sabotage boasts one of Arnold
Schwarzenegger's finer post-political performances, but it's
wasted in a movie driven by grueling violence that punishes
seemingly without purpose.
The NBC series Quantum Leap is celebrating its 25th
anniversary. The hot show starred Emmy Award winning St
Louis native actor Scott Bakula who played quantum
physicist Dr. Sam Beckett and his womanizing sidekick, Al Calavicci played by Dean Stockwell. The sci-fi drama debuted on March 26, 1989, and for the next five years viewers followed Bakula's geekworthy time-jumping lead character as he leapt in and out of various decades — and sometimes into history-making events.
Universal Studios Home Entertainment has released the
entire series on DVD.
From a report from espn.com, Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said the former MVP point guard has started to participate in non-contact drills during team practices, while also making it clear he will not come back this season.
"Yeah, yeah, he's doing that; he's moving along fine," Thibodeau said when asked about non-contact drills. "He has picked it up a little bit. But there's still no contact. He's out for the year, but he's doing well."
Told that the question wasn't about making a comeback either in the regular season or the playoffs, Thibodeau stopped that statement in its tracks.
"I'm just beating you to the next [question]," the coach said.
Rose tore his right meniscus Nov. 22, and had season-ending surgery three days later. He had played in just 10 games after missing all of last season with a torn left ACL.
Despite recent rumors that he might return for the playoffs, the Bulls have remained steadfast that Rose won't play this season. He could return to the court this summer, though, for USA Basketball and possibly participate in the World Cup in Spain.

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Cardinal Nation celebrated Thursday night with the grand
opening of Ballpark Village.
With its five performance stages, retractable roof, bars, restaurants, and rooftop deck, Ballpark Village will now be an integral part of the Cardinal fans’ experience, but plans are also in place to keep the venue active, year round.
We hear that the lines wrapped around the venue and down the street for people to enter.....now its time for the owners to get the no cap and jerseys together because their were a slew of people who entered with one or both he clothing items....we hear that the policy will be loosened for people to be allowed to wear caps and jerseys in the bar areas.

This week we feature goulash.
Goulash (Hungarian: gulyás) is a soup or stew of meat, noodles and vegetables, seasoned with paprika and other spices.[1] Originating within the historical Hungarian ethnic area, goulash is also a popular meal in Central Europe, Scandinavia and Southern Europe.
It is one of the national dishes of Hungary and a symbol of the country.
The name originates from the Hungarian "gulyás" [ˈɡujaːʃ] (

The festival is sponsored by WUSTL’s African and African-American Studies program and its Film and Media Studies program, both in Arts & Sciences; the African Students Association; and the Brown School African Students Association, which will lead a post-show discussion each evening.

“The film festival allows for a different type of reflection and perspective on the African continent,” said Caleb Edwards, president of the African Students Association. “The films are crafted with firsthand experiences in order to give a glimpse on how Africans interpret and respond to the stories/events of the continent that we only get to know about secondhand.”
Other supporters include the Saint Louis Art Museum, which will provide thematically related crafts to attendees at the youth matinee. The Saint Louis Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Saint Louis Missouri-Senegal Sister Cities will sponsor a reception Saturday evening, following the screening of “Tey.”
