BET selected its choices for the new hosts of its No. 1 show “106 and Park’ this week and one of them is a St Louis native and current Detroit resident and radio personality Shorty Da Prince aka Jordan Johnson.

Prince, who dj’s at WGPR-FM 107.5 FM in Detroit (until this Friday), was one of four hosts who were selected. The other three were rap/actor Bow Wow,  Kimberly ‘Paigion’ Walker (who also works at WGPR-FM),  and Miss Mykie replacing former co-hosts , Terrence J and Rocsi, who parted ways with the hit video countdown show last month.

From a statement on 107.5’s website: "Although Hot 107.5 is sad to see our top rated hosts (Prince and Walker)  go, I couldn't be more ecstatic to see them move on to such a fantastic opportunity with BET's "106 & Park."

He along with the other three hosts were introduced as the official hosts on Mondays show.

Prince  talked about his new gig on his Twitter page  and the irony of working with Bow Wow: “What's crazy is I introduced a Bow Wow song to get on the radio when I was 12 yrs old and now I'm workin wit em..”

Prince, who is signed to Atlantic Records as a rapper (who's  hit "Ratchet" was a staple on STL hip hop radio stations in 2009), got his start in the radio business in St. Louis, Mo in 2001 at the age of 12 when he won a contest to be on the air on then 100.3 The Beat. After a few years with them he moved on to WHHL Hot 104.1 until 2010 when he moved to Detroit to work for WGPR 107.5 FM.

Johnson is not new to BET. Since December,  he, along with his colleague Walker, hosted "106 & Park" 12 times, reported from the red carpet at the Grammy Awards and hosted the network's 2011 top video countdown.
He beat out thousands of hopefuls in a contest that took place earlier this year where people sent audition tapes for a spot on the show.

“106 & Park” airs Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. ET on BET.

This week, two STL movers and shakers caught our eye with their styles. The first is model Shaniece “MsNiecy” Mahone who recently shot photos with renowned photographer King Yella and wore this luxurious brown faux fur and fur boots and was looking tantalizingly sexy (and she is rockin the 70's Farrah Fawcett hair). She currently works for Juice Plus Distributions. The other is poet/singer Robert Dillard who recently cut off his trademark locks for a short frohawk. He rocked this skinny tux when he attended poet Kels Dk and Ooops wedding recently at The Ambassador. When he is not performing songs and poetry with his guitar, he is working in the offices of Board of Aldermen President (and newly announced 2013 mayoral candidate) Lewis Reed.

THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES. Why did Romney said he was going to cut PBS funding? but loves Big Bird? And why did Big Bird become the trending topic after the debates? Why didn’t facilitator Jim Lehrer take more control of the debates? Why did Obama have his right leg bent? Why did Romney keep saying his state of Massachusetts was #1 in education? Why did Romney keep interrupting during Obamas rebuttles? Why didn’t Obama start off the debate instead of a coin toss? And why did the debate feel like a boxing match?

OTHER WHYZ. Why did the Nikki and Mariah feud caught on tape on the American Idol set seemed planned? Why do people get CNN anchors Tech Holmes and Don Lemon confused?  Why did Bet choose four hists for 106 and Park? And why was Bow Wow chosen? Why was the black detective on the season opener of Dexter killed off?  Why did Arnold Schwarzenegger wait til now to write and promote his memoirs? Why were 50 Cent, Rick Ross and Jeezy fighting and shooting at the BET Hip Hop Awards? Why did it take Tyler Perry and Oprah so long top finally collaborate on projects?  And Why is Honey Boo Boo getting a raise in  TV salary?
