ILLI MO SPOTLIGHT

The Dallas Cowboys signed former Mizzouian Michael Sam to their practice squad Wednesday. Sam was drafted by the St. Louis Rams but didn't make the Rams' 53-man roster.

So the two WORD TO THE WHYZ questions that come to mind are: Why did The Rams draft him in thee first place when it appears that they were not going to hire him on board and why did The Cowboys draft him?  If Sam is such a distraction, then why did he have one the highest selling rookie jersey this year? That appears to be a distraction in the NFL's pockets.  Sam is a phenomenon in our culture of challenging the tradition of the image of the rugged, high testosterone driven football player and
sexuality. Just like  the film Brokeback Mountain did on the tradition of the rugged cowboy. Hmm...maybe thats why Dallas chose him. We are just sayin. LOL>
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union on their wedding day

Chicago native NBA superstar Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union got married over the weekend in a lavish wedding ceremony in Miami that reportedly cost over $5 million … and when you find out what all went into it, you’ll understand why it cost so much.
The Miami Heat guard and the “Being Mary Jane” star’s extravagant ceremony, which featured a serenade from John Legend, was held at the Chateau Artisan castle, which sits on 14 acres surrounded by a huge moat and beautiful gardens.
The nuptials, attended by around 200 wedding guests (including Kevin Hart & his fiancée Eniko ParrishLudacris and his girlfriend EudoxieTerrence JCarmelo & LaLa Anthony,Chris & Adrienne BoshLeBron James and plenty others), were a black-and-white themed affair, with the women asked to wear white, and black tuxedos were requested for men to wear.
Male guests were also given the option of choosing to wear one of three different black bow ties Wade helped design with the Tie Bar.
GossipExtra has exclusive details about the elaborate ceremony, which even had a top secret code name: “Sheik Noinu Edaw,” which is “Wade Union” spelled backwards, though we’re not sure what the “Sheik” part is supposed to be.
The wedding’s theme was Old Florida juke joint, and the decor had a bunch of Heat references and even “live chicken.”
Guests were picked up by “several fancy buses” from the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, where everyone was staying, and they were all transported about 45 minutes south to the $13 million Chateau Artisan mansion, which is built in the style of a castle.

Congrats to Dwyabrielle!

Another Chicagoan go married TV show host and actress Jenny McCarthy to Donnie Wahlberg who tied the knot in St. Charles, Ill., outside Chicago on Sunday, Aug. 31

McCarthy, 41, and Wahlberg, 45, were feted by 90 guests for their big day, with the blushing bride having a special escort walk her down the aisle — her son Evan.

"He said to me, 'I have the most important job at the wedding,'" McCarthy gushed to Us. (She shares Evan with her ex-husband John Mallory Asher.) "He was perfect."

As seen in the exclusive pics, Wahlberg helped his now stepson get ready for the 20-minute ceremony, and later posed with McCarthy and his NKOTB bandmate groomsmen. After feasting on Chicago and Boston specialties (a representation of both of their hometowns) the newlyweds danced the night away with each other and McCarthy's former View co-host  and  Chicagoan Sherri Shepherd.

"I won the lottery," the Blue Bloods actor tells Us. McCarthy adds: "We are ready to live happily ever after."

Congrats to "Jennie"

Twelve hip hop artists -- The Game, Diddy, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Wale, DJ Kaled, Swizz Beatz, Wale, Yo Gotti, Curren$y, Problem, and King Pharaoh & TGT -- collaborated on the track “Don’t Shoot,” in memoriam of Mike Brown and in protest of police violence.
The song was released recently on the Empire Distribution SoundCloud page, adding itself to the growing list of tribute songs inspired by Michael Brown, such as Lauryn Hill's "Black Rage" and J. Cole' s "Be Free."
References to other young, unarmed black men such as Emmett Till, Ezell Ford,Trayvon Martin, and Sean Bell are also included on the track, alongside a chorus of children’s voices singing “don’t point your weapons at me.”
STL SPOTLIGHT

St Louis Rams will begin its season at home at The Edward Jones Dome
against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Aug 7.
With Sam Bradford hurt again, St. Louis will start Shaun Hill at QB
UPDATE: The Rams lost  34 - 6 and second string QB Shaun Hill, tabbed as the Rams' starter last month after Sam Bradford suffered a torn ACL, was replaced at halftime by Austin Davis, who had never played in a regular-season game in two previous seasons as a Rams backup.
The Rams announced that Hill had suffered a thigh injury, though he remained standing on the sideline with his helmet on early in the third quarter as Davis led the Rams to their first scoring drive – a 56-yard field goal by Greg Zuerline.
Hill left the game after completing 8 of 13 passes for 81 yards including an interception.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

East St Louis native rapper Fresco Kane  created a song, “No Justice No Peace”
featuring singer
Fedarro in tribute to Michaeel Brown Jr.
When Kane first got wind of the killing of unarmed, black teen Michael Brown by a
white police officer in Ferguson, he had just stepped off an airplane flight from Los Angeles and
checked his Instagram app. Instantly, he felt he had to do something to stand up to the
racial profiling and brutality of the
police. “If you have a heart, it’s only right to do so,” Kane told St. Louis Today
He then decided to
create “No Justice No Peace” which features singer Fedarro, with the intent to
deliver a message
to America’s youth. “I didn’t do this for reaction. I did it to get a point across that
 this is every black kid.”
The point being that the death of Michael Brown isn’t a solitary, one-time event
in America’s social history,
that it could happen again, to anybody, if something isn’t done to stop it.
“I didn’t want to make any
song,” he says, referring to when he first had the idea. “I knew everybody
would make a song
saying, ‘Mike Brown Mike Brown Mike Brown’ the whole song,” Kane explains.
 “My song says that’s
me on the ground, and that’s all my friends on the ground. This is us,” he says.

To hear it go to  .

cancelled when they showed up? Why is Tavis Smiley
