OK NOW TO THE BITZ THIS WEEK

In the days after Prince's death, he sold 650,000 albums (both digital and physical), according to Nielsen Music. By comparison, Prince sold 1,400 copies in the three days prior.
Sales were highest Thursday, the day the news of his death broke, but Friday came close. Hits collection The Very Best of Prince was the top seller (258,000 copies), followed by the singer's smash Purple Rain soundtrack (147,000), which has sold 13 million copies since its release in 1984. The albums claimed the top two spots on theBillboard 200 album chart this week, while his box set The Hits/The B-Sides landed at No. 6 (64,000).
The Purple One sold 2.8 million songs in that same four-day period, including nearly 1 million Thursday and 900,000 Friday. His best-selling songs were led by Purple Rain (323,000), followed by When Doves Cry (245,000), Little Red Corvette(200,000), Kiss (184,000) and Let's Go Crazy (182,000).
"The activity has been pretty intense," says David Bakula, Nielsen Entertainment's senior vice president of analytics. With sales holding steady, "the number is definitely going to be higher this week than it was last. It wouldn't surprise me to see (Prince) stay up at the top for a very long time."
The jump is akin to that of Michael Jackson, who also died on a Thursday and posthumously sold 422,000 albums the week of his death in 2009. But it may be more difficult to match the longer-term sales of the King of Pop, who went on to sell 800,000 and 1.1 million albums, respectively, in the two weeks after.

Although Prince released a new album just last year called "Hitnrun Phase One," the digital downloads charts were virtually dominated by old stalwarts from the 80s and the 90s.
The downloads appear to be part of a feedback loop of fan nostalgia. Radio stations across the U.S. have been playing the artist's catalog virtually nonstop in tribute, and cable channel BET Soul dedicated the entire weekend's programming exclusively to Prince videos.
Spotify, however, was noticeably absent from the purple party, with none of its top 50 including any Prince songs. That was because in the year before he died, the singer yanked his catalog from streaming sites and granted Jay-Z's Tidal platform sole rights.
The 57-year old Minnesota native was known for aggressively blocking his music on free sites such as YouTube. In an interview, Prince once described the internet as a disaster for artists.

Nevertheless, digital music has become the next wave for artists, having overshadowed old-line music vehicles like CDs and vinyl.

Saturday Night Live remembered The Royal One with an hour-long episode titled "Goodnight Sweet Prince" that boasted all of the icon's SNL performances as well as sketches inspired by the singer. "Prince has been a special presence here at Saturday Night Live for the last four decades, from his debut on the show as a 22-year-old in 1981 to his surprise performance at the after party for the SNL 40th anniversary," Jimmy Fallon said in his touching preface for the episode.

"Tonight we wanted to pay tribute to him by looking back at his performances on the show over the years and by remembering what he meant to us," Fallon added. "Other people may have been on the show more times or performed more frequently, but there was always something different about a Prince performance: It was special, it was an event. It was Prince. Times have changed, styles have come and gone but no matter what, Prince has never not been cool."
The episode then rewound to Prince's first SNL visit in 1981 where he played "Party Up." That was followed by his 1989 performance on SNL's 15th anniversary episode, where he delivered the Batman soundtrack's "Electric Chair."
After Prince's 2006 SNL guest spot where he played 3121's "Fury" and "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed," the episode re-aired Prince's final SNL performance, an astounding 2014 visit that featured an eight-minute medley of Art Official Age's "Clouds" and Plectrumelectrum's "Marz" and "AnotherLove."
In addition to the musical guest spots and Prince-inspired sketches, the special also broadcast video of Prince's impromptu performance at the all-star SNL 40 after party in February 2015; footage of the never-before-seen rendition of "Let's Go Crazy" had leaked earlier in the day.
Fallon initially told the story of how he recruited Prince to take the Plaza Hotel stage on The Tonight Show, and on "Goodnight Sweet Prince," Fallon further detailed the chance performance. (The alternate angle of the SNL 40 performance also revealed that Arcade Fire's Win Butler was onstage for "Let's Go Crazy.")
The episode closed out with three SNL segments where Fred Armisen portrayed Prince in "The Prince Show," a reoccurring sketch that also starred noted Prince devotee Maya Rudolph.

Some opponents thought the skits shouldnt have been been added to the tribute but it is SNL and its a parody show so we think it was appropriate.

(CNN)Beyonce gave viewers a lot to process Saturday night when she released "Lemonade."
The "visual album," which aired on HBO, features videos for 12 of the 13 songs on her new album. It was a dreamy and powerful mix of visuals, spoken word, confessions and lyrics.
Add to that themes of love, betrayal, empowerment, tribalism and family, and it was enough to make heads spin.

    1. Denial and isolation

Beyonce opens with her solo, kneeling on a stage, dressed in black with a head wrap before she begins to sing from her single "Pray You Catch Me" -- "You can taste the dishonesty, it's all over your breath."
    Uh oh.
Fans were sad about Bey wandering alone through a field, her "lonely ear/ Pressed against the walls of your world. There were immediately questions about her husband Jay Z's role in all of it.

    2. Anger

Soon we were deeply into the world of ticked off Beyonce.
In "Hold Up," the singer strolls through the streets to a reggae beat opining "What's worse, looking jealous or crazy?" Then she takes out a car window with a bat.

And wait, does that bat she's swinging really say "Hot Sauce?" That's the swag she's had in her bag all along?!

The song "Sorry" is where things really start to get messy.
"He only want me when I'm not on there / He better call Becky with the good hair," Beyonce sings.
"Lemonade" already has us mad at Jay, and then Rachel Roy gets added to the mix.

Roy is a fashion designer and ex-wife of Damon Dash, who is Jay Z's former best friend and business partner. There was speculation in 2014 that Roy was somehow involved in the famous elevator altercation between Jay Z and Beyonce's sister, Solange Knowles.
None of the principals involved have ever addressed those rumors. But Roy posted a photo of herself and some friends on Instagram with the caption: "Good hair don't care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. live in the light #nodramaqueens." The Instagram has been deleted.
Roy was almost immediately stung by Beyonce's rabid fan base; the Bey Hive swarmed her social media accounts with criticism. It got so bad that confused fans were attacking TV chef Rachael Ray online.

    3. Bargaining

On the song "6 inch," we learn about a woman who has "Stars in her eyes/She fights for the power, keeping time."
The internet rallied around Beyonce. One person tweeted "Beyoncé just won custody of the internet in the divorce."

In one of the most personal moments of "Lemonade," the singer appears with her husband in "Sandcastles." She sings lyrics like, "We built sandcastles that washed away / I made you cry when I walked away / And although I promised that I couldn't stay, baby / Every promise don't work out that way" made us suspect that it was even deeper than we thought.

    4. Depression

Beyonce teamed up with singer James Blake for "Forward." At less than a minute 20 seconds it's the shortest song on the album, and it's mournful.
Fans were also sad that it didn't feature more Beyonce vocals.

    5. Acceptance

Just when we were ready to collapse in a heap, here comes the triumphant Beyonce on "Freedom." This tune features the hottest rapper in the game, Kendrick Lamar.
Suddenly Beyonce is sing-chanting "Freedom! Freedom! I can't move/Freedom, cut me loose!/Singin', freedom! Freedom! Where are you/Cause I need freedom too!/I break chains all by myself/Won't let my freedom rot in hell/Hey! I'm a keep running/Cause a winner don't quit on themselves."
It's an anthem. It's a call to action. Dammit, we are ready to ride for Queen Beyonce.
    And still we rise.
By the time Beyonce sings, "Found the truth beneath your lies/ And true love never has to hide" in "All Night," we are emotionally spent.
The next montage can't come soon enough: It shows intimate moments from Beyonce and Jay Z's private life. There they are at their wedding, with Beyonce's nine-month pregnant belly and celebrating daughter Blue Ivy's birthday.

Well, all we have to say is, Beyonce really has stepped it up creatively and is moving away from the ratchet queendom that she has  branded herself into since her solo debut and is adding dimension to her music career. But with all of the social messages, self awareness and artistry that was aired all people want to know is who is the Becky with good hair she is referring to. SMH.

As of this blogging,  KellyRipa, star of ABC’s morning chat show “Live with Kelly and Michael,” will have returned  to the program after sitting out most of last week. She was said to be upset that she was kept out of the loop for the network’s plan to switch Strahan to “Good Morning America” later this year. On Friday, staffers received an email from Ripa saying that she would come back to work on Tuesday.
In the meantime, she got apologies from Strahan and ABC boss Ben Sherwood   among others, for how the “GMA” affair was handled and for not telling her sooner.
“They talked over the weekend,” a source close to the show, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said of Ripa and Strahan. “I think Kelly appreciated the apology.”
Tuesday morning, it may be Ripa’s turn to apologize. The cohost intends to say she’s sorry to fans who were puzzled by her absence and the attendant backstage drama, according to the insider.
Fans of the cohosts may want to savor their remaining days together. Buzz on the “Live” set is that Strahan’s exit, initially timed for sometime this summer, could happen as early as next month, to take advantage of the May “sweeps” ratings period.

Well, the whole live leave notice was tacky we thought. You would think Strahan would have given Ripa a heads up, but we guess when money bumps are given for not telling then friendship is not part of the plan. But according to a gossip journalist who was recently on Wendy Williams Show, Ripa and Strahan arent really as close as one may think. During commerical breaks they dont talk to one another and only speak to their respective handlers. And Williams co-signed it when she said Ripa was on her  show and asked her about the on camera friendship during a commercial break and Ripa was shocked Williams found out. True, Ripa brought him on board and rallied for him to cop the co-hosting gig, but we are sure Ripa would have done the same thing if the deal was in her hands.

UPDATE. On the Tuesday show Kelly and Michael walked on set holding hands bopping to the set as the crowd gave them a standing ovation.

Lastly, the music world lost yet another legend, soul singer Billy Paul, of "Me and Mrs Jones" fame,  died Sunday at the age 81 from cancer.

Fair St Louis announced their music lineup for thsi year's fair St Louis.
They include George Clinton, Sammy Hagar, Flo Rida, Lee Brice and Eddie Money.

"I'm incredibly excited about this year's lineup," said Steve Pozaric, general chairman of Fair Saint Louis 2016. "We put a lot of time into trying to figure out a diverse lineup that offered something for everybody and I couldn't be more excited about how it all ended up."

According to stltoday.com, Canadian crooner Justin Bieber was Kaldi's Wednesday on Carondelet Avenue in Clayton. With little fanfare and less small talk, the pop star who played Tuesday night at Scottrade Center (and stayed at the Ritz Carlton) got a traditional cappuccino, to go.
Wonder what the cashier was thinking when the Biebster was ordering or did she even care? Hmm. We think the latter. lol

Ferguson, Mo native Lesley McSpadden, mother of the late St Louis teen Mike Brown was featured on Beyonce's music film, "Lemonade" during the black lives matter segment of the movie that aired on HBO Saturday. Although hshe was a brief appearance, the poignant moment shows her looking very stoic while  holding a picture of her son.

    FIT BITZ

This week we feature MIke Strahan who made news recently of announcing hsi departure from the Kelly and Mike morning Show.  The former NFL player and Hall of Famer continues to keep fit even after sports. He has been featured on various fitness magazines and has no problems shwoing his physique on TV when he is funning around with his co-host, Kelly Ripa.

This week we feature the late msuic icon Prince who not only made a name for himself in tehmusic world but he also was a fashion icon as well. Starting off his career wearing trenchcoat , bikini underwear and thigh boots to his iconic purple overcoat with ruffled shirt and jehri curl to his three eyes shdes, His Royal Badness made a statement breaking, gender  roles  and looking great doing it.

    .

     WORDZ TO THE WHYZ

Why didnt Prince have a will? Why did it seem Prince knew that his time on this Earth was ticking? Why did Justin Bieber say Prince wasnt the last music legend of our time? Why did Wolf Blitzer mistake Prince as being the author of "Purle Haze" when he was announcing his death on CNN?   Why did the Beyhive mistake  foodie Rachel Ray for being the Becky Beyonce referred to in her lemonade film?  And why did Rachel ROY go onto Twitter feeding off on the Becky mystery? And why did Pierce Morgan say Beyonce was race bating by putting the mothers of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown in her Lemonade movie? And why are so many music greats dying this year?
