His name is Dominique Ayers and he is the next in line to wear the sash of the title Mr Couture 2019. He won the title Oct 28 during the podcast of Maatology Productions' 10th Annual Mista Couture Style Showcase and Contest while Skyping in to compete. He also copped Popular Vote Winner, making him only the second person to win both titles (The first was Rickey Watkins in 2014).
Ayers, whose day job is a corrections officer at North Central Correctional Institution, is definitely on the verge of success. Later this month, this handsome, 27-year old will be attending the red carpet premiere to "Creed II "(where he has a couple of extra appearances )at Penn Cinema in Wilmington, Delaware.
OUTSTAGN had the opportunity to interview Ayers soon after his win of the title.
OS: So where do you reside? And are you originally from that area?
DA: I reside in Marion, Ohio and I am from Columbus, Ohio naturally. My mother got married and we moved.
OS:What made you want to enter this year's Mista Couture Style Contest?
DA:I knew it would be a great opportunity and point me in the right direction for the modeling industry and become more known in other fields of the industry as well.
OS:You mentioned in your acceptance speech during the contest that you were once homeless. Do you mind sharing that experience and how you conquered that?
DA:I was 23 years old when my mother kicked me out of her home. Being homeless wasn't a good experience but it wasn't a bad learning experience neither. I've went from sleeping in a homeless shelter, to sleeping in a Section 8 friends of mines apartment and also slept outside at my old high school football stadium in the back of a gator.
OS:Your Facebook name is Dominique Speaks Freedom. Why do you call yourself that?
DA:I go by the name Dominique Speaks Freedom for the reason being I speak freedom. I speak righteously. And if someone-- or anybody for that matter-is in the wrong and it effects the good around me or the people I love and they love me, then I feel like I have to speak freedom because there's too many people that don't speak up at all.
OS:Whats your idea of a romantic evening on a date with a significant other?
DA:The idea of a romantic date/evening to me could be simple but for a relationship and being together for some time I feel there has to be something spiced up. So to me, it'll be going on a road trip or traveling to a different state and enjoying things you've never tried before and getting a good view of where you might want to live someday.
OS:How do you describe your taste in fashion?
DA:It's wicked, mainly because I have clothes from when I was homeless which are like souvenir clothing now and can use for films if I'm called for a certain wardrobe. Then I have my formal dress up clothes and blazers and suits and bow ties. I just got a little bit of everything which is why I say my fashion is wicked.
OS:Whats your motto in life?
DA:"Don't get caught slipping"
OS:What are some of your hobbies?
DA:Working out, avid Gamer, and getting to be an extra in movies, commercials really all films and traveling.
OS:Whats your definition of couture?
DA:Couture to me means, creating light and darkness to how a person may feel or what they represent.
OS: What do you see yourself doing or plans of doing in five years?
DA:I see myself in five years running my own business that I will pass down to my son and being an A+ Celebrity doing well for the charities and kicking butt and taking names.
