President Barack Obama picked his choices this week  in his NCAA Tournament pool He was on ESPN with its sports anchor Tom Izzo at The White House  to talk about his picks after he chose them.
For the sixth straight year, Obama made his choices in the segment dubbed "Barack-etology." Obama's bracket was unveiled on SportsCenter on Wednesday morning.

"I've got Michigan State going all the way," Obama told Katz, noting his confidence in Izzo. "It's been a while since there's been a 1-1 and he knows how to motivate folks and he knows how to coach. My pick: Michigan State. Bring it home for me. It's been a while since I've won my pool."
Obama correctly picked North Carolina to come out on top in 2009 but has missed with his national championship predictions since then. In 2013, Obama picked Indiana to top eventual champion Louisville for the national championship. While he doesn't believe Rick Pitino's squad will successfully defend its crown, Obama does have the Cards getting back to the title tilt on his bracket. Michigan State and No. 4 Louisville were joined by No. 1 seeds Florida and Arizona in the Final Four on Obama's bracket.

"I know these are not imaginative picks, but I think they're the right ones," Obama told Katz of those Final Four picks.

Well, we will see if POTUS is correct in his Final Four and his winner.

This week,  a dee-jay on San Francisco’s Latino Mix FM

105.7 pulled a publicity stunt involving St. Louis bred

superstar Nelly’s 2002 No.1 platinum selling hit, “Hot In

Herre.”

Unbeknownst to the listeners on Monday the newest dee-

jay, Chuy Gomez,  began a two day playfest of Nelly’s hit to

advertise the relaunch of Latino Mix FM 105. as Hot 105.7

known in the radio biz as “stunting” when a radio station

change their playlist all of a sudden when a station has

been sold to new owners and their playlist has yet to be

programmed.

The stunt reportedly had prompted speculation on Twitter,

with the loop even getting its own hashtag, #Nelly1057.

Also, it was covered by everyone fromEntertainment

Weekly and Slate to ABC Newsand USA Today. The rapper

himself, Nelly excitedly tweeted about it.
According to Raúl Rodríguez, vice president and general manager of San Francisco radio and TV at Univision Radio, it was—no teasin'—a big surprise for the station. "Our goal was to get people in the Bay Area buzzing about this," Rodríguez says. "We didn't imagine it would go viral to the extent it did."
And It was Gomez who suggested Nelly's song as the soundtrack to the station's weekend interlude for their "Hot"-related makeover. "It was perfect in that the station name was going to be 'Hot,' but as it turns out, it was much more playful than we anticipated," Rodríguez says. "We anticipated complaints, but not sheer joy and nostalgia for Nelly and that song."

In 2003, a station in Austin also used "Hot in Herre" in its format change.

We are sure that Nelly was pleased of the stunt because he is waiting for his songwriting royalty checks in the mail from all that broadcasting of the song!

Chicago native actress/singer Jennifer Hudson has cut ties with Weight Watchers. The Oscar winner lost 80 pounds on a very successful campaign since 2010.

Hudson announced this week she's parting ways with the

weight loss brand. A source confirms to PEOPLE that the

contract was coming to an end and it was a mutual

 decision.

"I have chosen to step away from my role as ambassador

and I am excited for the year to come, with many new

projects and lots of new music," Hudson says in a

statement to PEOPLE.
"My experience with Weight Watchers has truly been life

changing. I am grateful for what I have learned throughout

the process and will always take it with me."

According to Patty 411, it appears their parting was painful because they decided to do more weight loss campaigns with Pop Star Jessica Simpson.

Hmm, we wonder if it had to do with J Hud's alleged divatude....she has been with Weight Watchers for four years and thats a long time to be a spokesperson of a company...but then again, Jessica Simpson has had two babies and was able to bounce back from both so maybe it had to do more with the WOW factor.

Chicago native and Grammy Award winning singer Mavis Staples is the center of a new biography on her life. Chicago Tribune's music critic Greg Kot has penned, I’ll Take You There, that delves into  the life and times of Staples as a gospel singer with her family Thee Staple Singers to her solo career.
With the use of an unpublished memoir by her late father/Staple Singer guitarist  Roebuck "Pops" Staple , Kot traces the improbable story of a young man who arrived in Chicago in the 1930s and went on to create a gospel-based musical template The Staple Singers  with his children that influenced many contemporary music artists.

In other  Staples  newz,  she can be found in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's traveling "Women Who Rock" exhibit.

The Saint Louis University men's basketball team had gone to its third consecutive NCAA Tournament for the first time in the school's history and came out with a historic win.

In Orlando, Fla, The Saint Louis Billikens played against North Carolina State Wolfpack Thursday at the Amway Center and won in a shocking overtime play.

From reports, No 12 seed  North Carolina State led No. 5 seed Saint Louis by 14 points with five minutes to play in regulation. Then Wolfpack led by eight points with 90 seconds to go and by six points with one minute left.

The Billikens reportedly  fought until the very end, erasing the aforementioned deficits in regulation in one of the most memorable comebacks in recent NCAA tournament history, and then pulling away from the Wolfpack for an 83-80 victory in overtime.

Saint Louis, which dropped four of its previous five games after winning 19 straight, including a 71-68 loss to St. Bonaventure in the A-10 tourney, have now advanced to play in Saturday’s third round, where it will meet No. 4 seed Lousiville Cardinals who won  71-64 against the No. 13 seed Manhattan Jaspers.and advance to Saturday's third round at Amway Center.

UPDATE: St Louis lost to Lousiville 51 to 66 on Saturday.

St. Louis had its very first 314 Day at Art Hill in Forest Park and from reports it was a huge

success culminating with a large picture that was taken to commemorate the event which

included many STL personalities including St Louis Mayor Francis Slay. It was

broadcast by Radio One St. Louis on Staci Static afternoon show where she interviewed

several STLpersonalities.

According to St Louis American's Delores Shante in Partyline: " I found it hee-larious to the

see the utter shock and confusion on the faces of the folks who were casually coming by to

check out the latest exhibit at the Saint Louis Art Museum only to be met by a sea of the city’s

more soulful element on their way in." She also reported that the  turnout have "ranged from

 20,000 to 500."

It would have been nice if the producers and promoters of the general 250 St Louis bday

celebration could have tied in with 314 Day but as always, the city is ethnically polarized and

 divided.

This week we feature the fruit, The banana.

A banana is an edible fruit produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants in the genus Musa.[1] (In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called plantains.) The fruit is variable in size, color and firmness, but is usually elongated and curved, with soft flesh rich in starchcovered with a rind which may be green, yellow, red, purple, or brown when ripe. The fruits grow in clusters hanging from the top of the plant. Almost all modern edible parthenocarpic (seedless) bananas come from two wild species – Musa acuminata and Musa balbisiana. The scientific names of most cultivated bananas are Musa acuminata, Musa balbisiana, and Musa × paradisiaca for the hybrid Musa acuminata × M. balbisiana, depending on theirgenomic constitution. The old scientific name Musa sapientum is no longer used.
Musa species are native to tropical Indomalaya and Australia, and are likely to have been first domesticated in Papua New Guinea.[2][3] They are grown in at least 107 countries,[4] primarily for their fruit, and to a lesser extent to make fiber, banana wine and banana beer and as ornamental plants.
Worldwide, there is no sharp distinction between "bananas" and "plantains". Especially in the Americas and Europe, "banana" usually refers to soft, sweet, dessert bananas, particularly those of the Cavendish group, which are the main exports from banana-growing countries. By contrast, Musacultivars with firmer, starchier fruit are called "plantains". In other regions, such as Southeast Asia, many more kinds of banana are grown and eaten, so the simple two-fold distinction is not useful and is not made in local languages.
The term "banana" is also used as the common name for the plants which produce the fruit.[1] This can extend to other members of the genus Musa like the scarlet banana (Musa coccinea), pink banana (Musa velutina) and the Fe'i bananas. It can also refer to members of the genus Ensete, like the snow banana (Ensete glaucum) and the economically important false banana (Ensete ventricosum). Both genera are classified under the banana family,Musaceae.
The word banana is thought to be of West African origin, possibly from the Wolof word banaana, and passed into English via Spanish or Portuguese.

This week we feature the rocked out look from a St Louisan  who goes by the moniker Twin Dismissing Facades who posted this headshot of her rocking the summer palm tree shades, auburn dyed fro, purple on black square earrings and that lip gloss is P.O.P.P.I.N. she is definitely ready for the spring!

Why has it taken so long to find that Malaysian plane? And why are people saying that it vanished like it is a sign of the rapture? And why is CNN doing 24 hour coverage f this? Why did Chris Brown tried to get his groove on with some of the female assistants at the rehab center? Why did Miki Howard do the non disclosure route when she was asked on the Tom Joyner Morning show if her baby daddy was Michael Jackson?  Why did Lady Gaga have a performance artist vomit on her at the South by southwest show recently? Why are people blaming Beyonce for  Kelly Rowland being dropped from her label? Why did Billy Dee Williams agree to do Dancing with the Stars at his age? Why didnt , Anita Baker pay that construction company that worked on her house? And why are high profile women in teh entertainment biz trying to get rid of the word, "bossy?"
