President Barack Obama picked his choices this week  in his NCAA Tournament pool He was on ESPN with its sports anchor Tom Izzo at The White House  to talk about his picks after he chose them.
For the sixth straight year, Obama made his choices in the segment dubbed "Barack-etology." Obama's bracket was unveiled on SportsCenter on Wednesday morning.

"I've got Michigan State going all the way," Obama told Katz, noting his confidence in Izzo. "It's been a while since there's been a 1-1 and he knows how to motivate folks and he knows how to coach. My pick: Michigan State. Bring it home for me. It's been a while since I've won my pool."
Obama correctly picked North Carolina to come out on top in 2009 but has missed with his national championship predictions since then. In 2013, Obama picked Indiana to top eventual champion Louisville for the national championship. While he doesn't believe Rick Pitino's squad will successfully defend its crown, Obama does have the Cards getting back to the title tilt on his bracket. Michigan State and No. 4 Louisville were joined by No. 1 seeds Florida and Arizona in the Final Four on Obama's bracket.

"I know these are not imaginative picks, but I think they're the right ones," Obama told Katz of those Final Four picks.

Well, we will see if POTUS is correct in his Final Four and his winner.

This week,  a dee-jay on San Francisco’s Latino Mix FM

105.7 pulled a publicity stunt involving St. Louis bred

superstar Nelly’s 2002 No.1 platinum selling hit, “Hot In

Herre.”

Unbeknownst to the listeners on Monday the newest dee-

jay, Chuy Gomez,  began a two day playfest of Nelly’s hit to

advertise the relaunch of Latino Mix FM 105. as Hot 105.7

known in the radio biz as “stunting” when a radio station

change their playlist all of a sudden when a station has

been sold to new owners and their playlist has yet to be

programmed.

The stunt reportedly had prompted speculation on Twitter,

with the loop even getting its own hashtag, #Nelly1057.

Also, it was covered by everyone fromEntertainment

Weekly and Slate to ABC Newsand USA Today. The rapper

himself, Nelly excitedly tweeted about it.
According to Raúl Rodríguez, vice president and general manager of San Francisco radio and TV at Univision Radio, it was—no teasin'—a big surprise for the station. "Our goal was to get people in the Bay Area buzzing about this," Rodríguez says. "We didn't imagine it would go viral to the extent it did."
And It was Gomez who suggested Nelly's song as the soundtrack to the station's weekend interlude for their "Hot"-related makeover. "It was perfect in that the station name was going to be 'Hot,' but as it turns out, it was much more playful than we anticipated," Rodríguez says. "We anticipated complaints, but not sheer joy and nostalgia for Nelly and that song."

In 2003, a station in Austin also used "Hot in Herre" in its format change.

We are sure that Nelly was pleased of the stunt because he is waiting for his songwriting royalty checks in the mail from all that broadcasting of the song!

Chicago native actress/singer Jennifer Hudson has cut ties with Weight Watchers. The Oscar winner lost 80 pounds on a very successful campaign since 2010.

Hudson announced this week she's parting ways with the

weight loss brand. A source confirms to PEOPLE that the

contract was coming to an end and it was a mutual

 decision.

"I have chosen to step away from my role as ambassador

and I am excited for the year to come, with many new

projects and lots of new music," Hudson says in a

statement to PEOPLE.
"My experience with Weight Watchers has truly been life

changing. I am grateful for what I have learned throughout

the process and will always take it with me."

According to Patty 411, it appears their parting was painful because they decided to do more weight loss campaigns with Pop Star Jessica Simpson.

Hmm, we wonder if it had to do with J Hud's alleged divatude....she has been with Weight Watchers for four years and thats a long time to be a spokesperson of a company...but then again, Jessica Simpson has had two babies and was able to bounce back from both so maybe it had to do more with the WOW factor.

Chicago native and Grammy Award winning singer Mavis Staples is the center of a new biography on her life. Chicago Tribune's music critic Greg Kot has penned, I’ll Take You There, that delves into  the life and times of Staples as a gospel singer with her family Thee Staple Singers to her solo career.
With the use of an unpublished memoir by her late father/Staple Singer guitarist  Roebuck "Pops" Staple , Kot traces the improbable story of a young man who arrived in Chicago in the 1930s and went on to create a gospel-based musical template The Staple Singers  with his children that influenced many contemporary music artists.

In other  Staples  newz,  she can be found in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's traveling "Women Who Rock" exhibit.

The Saint Louis University men's basketball team had gone to its third consecutive NCAA Tournament for the first time in the school's history and came out with a historic win.

In Orlando, Fla, The Saint Louis Billikens played against North Carolina State Wolfpack Thursday at the Amway Center and won in a shocking overtime play.

From reports, No 12 seed  North Carolina State led No. 5 seed Saint Louis by 14 points with five minutes to play in regulation. Then Wolfpack led by eight points with 90 seconds to go and by six points with one minute left.

The Billikens reportedly  fought until the very end, erasing the aforementioned deficits in regulation in one of the most memorable comebacks in recent NCAA tournament history, and then pulling away from the Wolfpack for an 83-80 victory in overtime.

Saint Louis, which dropped four of its previous five games after winning 19 straight, including a 71-68 loss to St. Bonaventure in the A-10 tourney, have now advanced to play in Saturday’s third round, where it will meet No. 4 seed Lousiville Cardinals who won  71-64 against the No. 13 seed Manhattan Jaspers.and advance to Saturday's third round at Amway Center.

UPDATE: St Louis lost to Lousiville 51 to 66 on Saturday.

St. Louis had its very first 314 Day at Art Hill in Forest Park and from reports it was a huge

success culminating with a large picture that was taken to commemorate the event which

included many STL personalities including St Louis Mayor Francis Slay. It was

broadcast by Radio One St. Louis on Staci Static afternoon show where she interviewed

several STLpersonalities.

According to St Louis American's Delores Shante in Partyline: " I found it hee-larious to the

see the utter shock and confusion on the faces of the folks who were casually coming by to

check out the latest exhibit at the Saint Louis Art Museum only to be met by a sea of the city’s

more soulful element on their way in." She also reported that the  turnout have "ranged from

 20,000 to 500."

It would have been nice if the producers and promoters of the general 250 St Louis bday

celebration could have tied in with 314 Day but as always, the city is ethnically polarized and

 divided.

This week we feature the fruit, The banana.

A banana is an edible fruit produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants in the genus Musa.[1] (In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called plantains.) The fruit is variable in size, color and firmness, but is usually elongated and curved, with soft flesh rich in starchcovered with a rind which may be green, yellow, red, purple, or brown when ripe. The fruits grow in clusters hanging from the top of the plant. Almost all modern edible parthenocarpic (seedless) bananas come from two wild species – Musa acuminata and Musa balbisiana. The scientific names of most cultivated bananas are Musa acuminata, Musa balbisiana, and Musa × paradisiaca for the hybrid Musa acuminata × M. balbisiana, depending on theirgenomic constitution. The old scientific name Musa sapientum is no longer used.
Musa species are native to tropical Indomalaya and Australia, and are likely to have been first domesticated in Papua New Guinea.[2][3] They are grown in at least 107 countries,[4] primarily for their fruit, and to a lesser extent to make fiber, banana wine and banana beer and as ornamental plants.
Worldwide, there is no sharp distinction between "bananas" and "plantains". Especially in the Americas and Europe, "banana" usually refers to soft, sweet, dessert bananas, particularly those of the Cavendish group, which are the main exports from banana-growing countries. By contrast, Musacultivars with firmer, starchier fruit are called "plantains". In other regions, such as Southeast Asia, many more kinds of banana are grown and eaten, so the simple two-fold distinction is not useful and is not made in local languages.
The term "banana" is also used as the common name for the plants which produce the fruit.[1] This can extend to other members of the genus Musa like the scarlet banana (Musa coccinea), pink banana (Musa velutina) and the Fe'i bananas. It can also refer to members of the genus Ensete, like the snow banana (Ensete glaucum) and the economically important false banana (Ensete ventricosum). Both genera are classified under the banana family,Musaceae.
The word banana is thought to be of West African origin, possibly from the Wolof word banaana, and passed into English via Spanish or Portuguese.

This week we feature the rocked out look from a St Louisan  who goes by the moniker Twin Dismissing Facades who posted this headshot of her rocking the summer palm tree shades, auburn dyed fro, purple on black square earrings and that lip gloss is P.O.P.P.I.N. she is definitely ready for the spring!

This week,  Grammy Award winning rap superstar Kanye West shared a brief trailer from an upcoming tour film on his official site.

The video reportedly features rapid-fire clips of a variety of scenes from the Yeezus tour, as well as some horses running in snow, soundtracked by clips from the Grammy nominated album. The trailer first aired during his appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers earlier this week.

The film was directed by Hype Williams and will appear in theaters, according to the trailer. Williams directed a number of West's music videos, including "Diamonds From Sierra Leone," "Stronger" and "Gold Digger."

Last week, novelist/screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis confirmed in an interview withNoisey that he is also collaborating with West on a film project. Though it would be totally plausible for 'Ye to be kicking around a few projects, there's a strong possibility this is what he was speaking of.

Ellis is best known for his books American Psycho and Less Than Zero, both of which were adapted into films.
This article first appeared on Billboard.com.

To see the trailer go to:

Now the question is, why did Kanye release it in theaters? Possible Oscar recognition? Hmm, we will see next year.

And in more Ye newz, from Austin, Tx. Ye along with his mentor rap icon Jay Z headlined a  hit-filled two-hour show Wednesday night and Thursday morning during South By Southwest that was upstaged by West.
Samsung, the promoters of the show reportedly announced the Austin Music Hall show early this week and scheduled the pair at the same time as the iTunes Festival's hip-hop night that featured Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q at the very nearby ACL Moody Theater. The performance reportedly came a few weeks after West called out Apple CEO Tim Cook at a New Jersey concert, telling him to "stop trying to get performers to play your festival for free, you are rich as (expletive)."
The show was reportedly was one of the most anticipated surrounding the annual buzz-building gathering and fans with Samsung devices with the company's new streaming music service, Milk Music, were granted free entry.
Fans reportedly  lined up several hundred yards around the block before the show with most having little hope of getting in. Those who did — including Odd Future's Tyler, The Creator, who forced his way to the front row to the delight of selfie-snapping fans and spent some of the show crowd surfing — were treated to an energetic performance from two of hip-hop's biggest stars.
They reportedly emerged individually atop two large boxes stationed on the stage and in the crowd — West wearing his trademark leather kilt and Jay Z in a black American flag t-shirt — and began the show near the rafters.
The pair, who recently announced a partnership between West's Donda Music and Jay Z's Roc Nation, each also played hits from their own lengthy catalogs.
Apparently Ye's antics hasn't halted people from coming to see him perform. As the adage says: "Controversy breeds success."

Emmy Award nominated St Louis native actor Jon Hamm made a couple of surprise TV appearances in NYC unknowingly and knowingly recently.
He unknowingly strolled into Saturday Night Live over last weekend for a cameo during a Lena Dunhamsketch, and on Monday night he appeared in a Jimmy Fallon video on The Tonight Show.
Fallon and Hamm teamed up to photobomb unsuspecting tourists at the Top of the Rock, the observation deck at Rockefeller Center in New York.
Seems hard to believe that people posing wouldn't notice the two behind them. By the end of the video we see that the stars introduced themselves and posed with the folks for more happy photos.
In related Hamm newz, he will be back as Don Draper for the final season of Mad Men, kicking off on April 13.

Jefferson, Mo native and St Louis bred actor/comedian is making airwaves on network and social media. He recently launched a brand new website to  showcase his ‘whole damn world’ with fans across the globe. With the dynamic entertainer having so much in store throughout 2014, http://www.iAmCedric.com will serve as an all-inclusive platform for all things related to Cedric.

Later this month, there will be a premiere of his new video podcast entitled Cedric The Entertainer’s Whole Damn World beginning on March 31st, and also the recently announced television series Barber Battle coming soon to The CW.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bears agreed to terms on a one-year deal with two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Charles Tillman, the team announced Friday.
Tillman's deal is worth about $3.5 million, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan.
"Charles is one of the NFL's great players and a true leader on and off the field and we're happy he will be staying in Chicago," general manager Phil Emery said. "He remains the best in our game at forcing turnovers and always has brought a tough, physical presence to our secondary. Charles also has a special connection to the people and community across Chicago and we're excited for that to continue."
The Bears allowed Tillman to test the market in free agency, but he left Tampa Bay without a contract on Thursday. The Buccaneers were viewed as serious threats to sign Tillman because of the cornerback's relationship with new Bucs coach Lovie Smith, with whom Tillman spent nine years in Chicago.
Huh? This doesnt make any sense AT ALL. What did the owners of Tampa Bay think Tillman was going to do with Smith as his coach?  Show favoritism? Crazy. But Im sure Chicago is glad that he is back because he was one of the teams best players. He didnt win the Walter Payton Award (who's namesake was a former Bears player)this year for nothing!

FOOD BITEZ

This weekend many Irish Americans and "Irish for the day" people will be celebrating Saint Patrick's Day....one of the staple foods cooked and served is corned beef.

Corned beef is a salt-cured beef product. The term comes from the treatment of the meat with "corns" of salt. It features as an ingredient in many cuisines, including Irish-AmericanJewishCaribbeanPhilippine cuisine and Chamorro cuisine (Mariana Islands such as Saipan and Guam).[citation needed]
It was popular during World War II when fresh meat was rationed. Corned beef remains popular in the United Kingdom and is commonly used insandwiches and corned beef hash.

Although the exact beginnings of corned beef are unknown, it most likely came about when people began preserving meat through salt-curing in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Evidence of its legacy is apparent in numerous cultures, including Ancient Europe, and the Middle East.[1] The word cornderives from Old English, and is used to describe any small hard particles or grains.[2] In the case of "corned beef", the word may refer to the coarse granular salts used to cure the beef.[1] The word corned may also refer to the corns of gunpowder which were formerly used to preserve the meat. [1]
In North America corned beef dishes are associated with traditional Irish cuisine. However there is considerable debate about the association of corned beef with Ireland. Mark Kurlansky, in his book Salt, states that the Irish produced a salted beef around the Middle Ages that was the "forerunner of what today is known as Irish corned beef" and in the 17th century the English named the Irish salted beef, corned beef.[7] Some say it was not until the wave of 18th century Irish immigration to the United States that much of the ethnic Irish first began to consume corned beef dishes as seen today. The popularity of corned beef compared to bacon among the immigrant Irish may have been due to corned beef being considered a luxury product in their native land, while it was cheaply and readily available in America.[5]
In Ireland today, the serving of corned beef is geared toward tourist consumption and most Irish in Ireland do not identify the ingredient as native cuisine.[8][9]
The Jewish population produced similar koshered cured beef product made from the brisket which the Irish immigrants purchased as corned beef from Jewish butchers. This may have been facilitated by the close cultural interactions and collaboration of these two diverse cultures in the USA's main 19th and 20th century immigrant port of entry, New York City.

This week we highlight Fox 2/KPLR news anchor April Simpson who always brings a certain flair on air when  it comes to fashion especially her notable long locks. Here she poses with bottles of  D'Bes wine sporting a black leather jacket with matching black slacks and a pink blouse with leather bordering.

Why did Aretha shade Patti by not shaking her hand when she was walking up to the stage? Why cant the Malaysian plane be found after a week? Why did Bill O Reilly call Beyonce a bad role model for women? Why did Floyd Mayweather hire some hit men to kill the people who he thought stole his jewelry from his house? Why didnt the city of NYC check the gas smells reported by the citizens before the explosion? Why did Toronto mayor Rob Ford give his people the wrong daylight savings time info?
Why did Roseanne Barr tweet the Zimmermans parents' address? And why do people pinch people if they dont wear green on St Patricks day?
