CONTEST DEADLINE IS  FEB 1 2015 FOR MORE INFO GO TO

SPOT BITZ

President Barack Obama was  on "The Colbert Report," that taped in Washington DC Monday when he was playfully confiding that the trappings of the presidency really don't go to his head.
"When I go home, Michelle, Malia and Sasha give me a hard time," he told host Stephen Colbert. "There are no trumpets, and they tease me mercilessly."
His daughters mock his big ears, he leaves his socks on the floor and sitting behind Stephen Colbert's desk, he said, gives him a greater sense of power.

Colbert, whose on-screen persona is that of an insufferable conservative scold, accused Obama of exceeding his authority on immigration. "When did you decide to burn the Constitution and become emperor?" he asked. The question was heard as a joke by many in the audience at George Washington University.
Obama dropped the comedy and replied: "Actually, Steve, everything that we have done is scrupulously within the law and has been done by previous Democratic and Republican presidents."
It was Obama's third appearance on the show, his second as president.

Meanwhile, POTUS  sat down with BET Networks for an exclusive interview at the White House to discuss the current unrest in America.  The president addresses community concerns and calls for justice and equality after the recent grand jury decisions. President Obama discusses his strategy not only to investigate the various incidents, but also the ways in which he believes that the country can come together during this time. BET News' Jeff Johnson conducts the interview.

We can agree with the President when he said that he didn't want to influence the narrative in regards to saying the police were wrong in their handling with Mike Brown and Eric Garner "putting his thumb on the scale of justice" because he is a politician and he has a certain stance he has to take  as a politician and his allegiance
to the office.  But there is one thing
for certain, he is making efforts of helping the problem rather than blaming and doing nothing.

In support of Eric Garner, a Staten Island man killed by a police chokehold in July Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose sported an “I Can’t Breathe” shirt in pregame warmups before Saturday’s game against the Golden State Warriors.  The support came about reportedly when Rose was in his downtown Chicago apartment one night late last week with two of his oldest friends, Tim Flowers and Randall Hampton from the South Side of Chicago. When the protests erupted after the non-indictment of Garner,  Rose and his friends were inside the Trump Tower in New York, they watched the streets below fill with demonstrators.

Rose,  asked Hampton to find him a shirt bearing Garner’s final words, which had become a rallying cry across the country.

It did not take long for Rose to get the shirt. And last Saturday night, when the Bulls took on Golden State in Chicago, he wore it during warm-ups. It was black, with white letters that stated, “I Can’t Breathe.”

What Rose began, other N.B.A. players have continued. On Monday in Brooklyn, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James wore a similar shirt, as did a number of Nets. On Tuesday night, in Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant and his Lakers teammates wore “I Can’t Breathe” shirts before they took on the Sacramento Kings.

It looks like the Michael Sam documentary is finally going to happen.
Back in May, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) announced  it was going to create a multi-part documentary series with Sam, chronicling his 'historic journey' as the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL.
The Rams, the team that drafted Sam, had no idea he had planned to make a documentary and they weren't thrilled when they found out.
Just two days after the documentary was originally announced, Sam and OWN decided that it would probably be best for all involved if the documentary was postponed.
After a seven month postponement, the documentary is back on.
According to OWN, the documentary will focus on "when Michael was drafted by the St. Louis Rams, the intense media scrutiny that immediately followed, and Michael's struggle to stay focused despite the pressure and chaos. Additionally, the documentary explores Michael's relationship with his boyfriend Vito and the challenge of balancing his personal life alongside his pursuit of NFL stardom."
The documentary will air on OWN  Dec. 27. The 90-minute special will be followed by an interview between Oprah Winfrey and Sam.
Do you all think people will tune in ? We think his spotlight is fading and the novelty has waned a bit.

The Golden Globe nominations were announced this week and one ILLI MO native actor was nominated and that was Kansas City, Mo native

Kansas City, Mo  native Columbus Short  came clean in regards to the reason for his downspiral in his personal life which affected his professional life mainly his three year stint on the ABC hit series, "Scandal" when he was fired earlier this year.

During an interview with Access Hollywood, the former “Scandal” star, 32, said he was overwhelmed by recent events in his life.
“I was struggling with drugs,” said a visibly shaken Short, who confessed to self-medicating with alcohol in July. “I had a lot on my plate … I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot, and trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day, and a family, and I just lost myself back then.”
In recent months, Short has been involved in numerous altercations, some with his soon-to-be ex-wife Tanee McCall-Short, whom he recorded attacking another woman, and other altercations in which he was intoxicated.
He says the suicide of his good friend Lee Thompson Young in August 2013 triggered his spiral. “I found out when I was on set, and it really just, it took my legs out from under me,” said Short.
While working on one of television’s most popular shows alongside Kerry Washingtonand show creator Shonda Rhimes, he was using drugs. “They protected me and they held me down,” he revealed. “And that was one of the real reasons — they just wanted me to get my stuff together. Sometimes the bottom has to be dropped out for you to really get it.”

Nelly's 8-part BET reality show “Nellyville”is a hit. according to BET,  the debut of “Nellyville” drew one million viewers in its debut airing, Nov 25,  making it the top non-scripted series debut a for the last two years on the network.  The series  follows Nelly being a father to his children (two biologically and two adopted from his late sister, Jackie), his involvement with new girlfriend Miss Jackson and his career .

Although the show has been criticized as a bit fluffy in content, we are sure to assume as second season will be filmed.

night’s pro boxing card on the Showtime Network. Alexander

 Welterweight belt.

“We’re going to represent St Louis the way we always represent St Louis,” said Alexander’s trainer Kevin Cunningham who was raised in Ferguson. “We are going to have Mike Brown Sr with us, so that’s pretty much what we’re doing in a nutshell in reference to that.”

UPDATE: Alexander lost the fight.

Why didnt the grand jury  indict the cops who killed Eric Garner but indicted the guy who filmed the killing? Why did P Diddy punch Drake in the face ? Why didnt Floyd Mayweather go to the cops when his friend rapper Earl Hayes killed his wife and himself witnessing it on Facetime? And why did Mayweather go to a basketball game afterwards?  Why was the lead singer of Creed plotting to kill President Obama? Why was Sony Pictures movies and emails were able to get hacked? And why did that Sony exec call Kevin Hart a money whore? Why wasnt the Ferguson sketch not aired on Saturday NightLive last Saturday ?Why is there going to be a  TV series about the OJ Simpson trial? Why are people making a big deal about Whoopi Goldberg farting on The View? And why do people say, "at the end of the day" when making a point  in an argument?

The big story this week in entertainment  in the ILLI MO are was the backlash after some of the St Louis Rams threw their hands up to symbolize the aftermath following the Michael Brown shooting and grand jury decision. During the pregame introductions before the Rams' game against the Oakland Raiders, five members of the Rams Wide receivers Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, Chris Givens and Kenny Britt and tight end Jared Cook  took the field amid flashing lights and fanfare – with their hands up.
After the geature, there were talks of the NFL fining the players as well as offering a public apology to the action after one of teh St Louis Police Boards objected to it. Also former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka chimed in stating that the hands up gesture was tacit approval of looting and burning of stores.
As of press time, the players were not fined and did not apologize as the Rams organization believed the men were expressing their First Amendment Rights. However, some of the guys have been reported as saying they have received death threats from the action.
OUTSTAGN agrees with the Rams organization for not fining them. They were expressing their right to make the gesture. They were not violent, vulgar nor caused any riots. The gesture in a way is reminiscent of the Black Power gesture in 1968 during the Olympics' medal ceremony in Mexico when two black track and fielders raised their fists wearing black gloves protesting racism in America. And in our history, sports played a part in defining racial politics in America (eg. Jesse Owens winning four medals in Hitler Germany in 1936, Muhammad Ali protesting going to Vietnam, and the phenom Tiger Woods winning Masters championships breaking the racial barrier in golf)

Another big story was the announcement of the 2015 Grammy Awards Friday and several ILLI
MO native acts garnered nominations. They were St Joseph Mo born rap artist Eminem who reciieved three nods  for Rap Album ("Marshall Mathers 2") Rap Solo ("Rap God") and Rap/Sung Performance ("Monster" with Rihanna); Chitown bred Kanye West copped two nods for Rap Song  and Rap/Sung Performance ("Bound 2" with Charlie Wilson) as well as Chicagoan Common for Rap Album ("Nobdys Smiling") and Rap/Sung ("Black Magik" with Jheno Aiko) Chicagoans Jennifer Hudson and R Kelly shared a nod for R&B Performance  ("Its Your World") and last year Grammy winner Chicago native Lalah Hathaway is up for another award in the same category she won last year in the Traditional R&B Performance field with the same music partner Robert Glasper for the song "Jesus Children" (that also includes actor Malcolm Jamal Warner).

The nominees for Album of the Year was the only category to have been announced which will be announced during the Grammy Awards Christmas Special Friday evening on CBS. The Grammy Awards will be aired on CBS Feb. 8

We predict that Eminem will be nominated for Album of the Year and has a good chance of winning second to Grammy fave and lead nominee Sam Smith.

UPDATE: Eminem was not nominated for Album of the Year.

Speaking of Kanye, there are rumors that he might be leaving the rap game to pursue fashion design.  A source tells Page Six of the New York Post that the rapper plans "to step away from music and concentrate on clothing" after his alleged music collab with Paul McCartney.

Well, only time will tell, but it would not be surprising.

“Breaking Bad” fans have been anxiously awaiting the premiere of  the prequel spinoff “Better Call Saul” since Walter White cooked his last batch of blue meth in 2013.
The wait is nearly over. AMC has announced the spinoff series, starring Naperville, Ill native actor Bob Odenkirk’s morally questionable attorney, will premiere its first two episodes over two nights.
The show’s first episode will debut Feb. 8 and its second episode will follow Feb. 9. The series will then air regularly on Monday nights.
Set six years before the events of “Breaking Bad,” the new series, created by “Breaking Bad’s” Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, will follow the transformation of Jimmy McGill (Odenkirk), a small-time, not-very-successful lawyer, into “Saul Goodman,” tace attorney of the crime world.
Jonathan Banks, known to “Breaking Bad” fans as the crime world fixer Mike, will reprise his role in the new series. New cast members include Michael McKean, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian and Michael Mando.
The series was given a 10-episode first season, but has already been renewed for a 13-episode second season.

Two ILLI MO natives will be in Chris Rock's upcoming film "Top Five" One is Jefferson, Mo native and St Louis raised comic/actor Cedric the Entertainer. Cedric – who plays a promoter and the “motherf*cking man in Houston” – talked about his role and his wild sex scene with Karlie Redd, including how that scene mirrors some comedians’ time on the road.
“The scene is just getting more and more over the top. Chris was like, ‘let’s just go there.’ When you read it on the paper, at first of all I was like, ‘Oh no. I don’t know. I’m not sure.’ I was like, ‘Chris, you sure you want me to…’ I was like, man I’m going to need some prayer before I do this scene. This was going pretty graphic, but then you think about some of your nights on the road back in the day, then you’re like, yeah, I get it.”
The other is Sherii Shepherd who tales on teh role as Rock's ex-girlfirend.

Top Five which was a fan fave when it was screened at the Toronto Film Festival this year  is in theaters everywhere December 12th.
Speaking of Shepherd, Months after leaving Shepherd returned to daytime TV…as a guest

co-host on “The Talk.”The entertainer, who was on hand Monday to promote her new film

with Chris Rock, Top Five,” engaged the ladies of “The Talk” at the “talk” table.

Topics discussed included Sheperd’s departure from “The View.” She confirmed how happy

she is to move on from her stint on the ABC show and her desire to come back on a

“Dancing with the Stars” reunion show and compete against Wendy Williams.

Since leaving “The View,” Shepherd has experienced a string of good fortune that ranges

from playing the evil stepmother on Broadway in Rodger & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” to

her return on the sitcom, The Soul Man.

In just their third year in the Southeastern Conference, the Missouri Tigers (10-2 overall, 7-1 in SEC play) will be making a 2nd-straight SEC Championship Game appearance this Saturday, as Head Coach Gary Pinkel's troops (ranked 14th in the Associated Press Poll, 13th in the Coaches' Poll) will face the #1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1, 7-1) for all the SEC's marbles. Kickoff from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga., is set for 3 p.m. (central time), with the game televised on CBS.
Mizzou is coming off a hard-earned 21-14 win last Friday at home over the red-hot Arkansas Razorbacks (who came into the game after consecutive shutout wins over LSU and Ole Miss). The Tigers came into the game as underdogs, despite playing at home.

UPDATE:  SAT.  DEC 6 at 6:40 PM CST.....Mizzou lost to Alabama 42-13. Mizzou will find out Sunday which Bowl they will be playing.  From reports The Tigers could play in the Citrus Bowl (Jan. 1, Orlando, Fla.), which has the first choice of SEC teams after the playoff committee sets the two semifinal bowls (Sugar, Rose) and four access bowls (Cotton, Fiesta, Orange, Peach). After the Citrus, the SEC office decides the SEC participant in the next six bowls: Belk, Liberty, Music City, Outback, Taxslayer andTexas.

SECOND UPDATE:  Mizzou is headed to Orlando, Florida to take on Minnesota in the Citrus Bowl on New Years Day!

Country superstar Garth Brooks is in St Louis performing several concerts at Scott Trade Center this week and weekend. One particular fan of his who attended Thursdays concert was singer Justin Timberlake who had taken a pic of Brooks after his show backstage and shared it on his Instagram page and writing: “One of my IDOLS. Garth… You are a MASTER of your craft. I am in awe of you, still.”

This week the sports journalism world lost award-winning columnist Bryan Burwell of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch who died Thursday after a short battle with cancer. He was 59. The newspaper made the announcement on its website, stltoday.com. Sports editor Roger Hensley said in a statement that Burwell was one of the most well-respected journalists in his field.
"As great as Bryan was as a journalist, he was even better as teammate, as a coworker and as a friend," Hensley said.
Burwell's sports career spanned decades as a newspaper columnist and feature writer and with stints on national and local television, as well as ESPN's "Sports Reporters." Burwell last appeared on that show in September.
The Associated Press Sports Editors named Burwell one of the top 10 sports columnists in the country in 2007.

This week we feature Grammy Award nominated St Louis native singer/songwriter Michael Ohara.  Ohara is making news for reviving his former band The Sheiks. In the early 1980s, the Sheiks  were household names in New Orleans.
In 1985, O'Hara left the band, and New Orleans, behind and went out for Los Angeles. He landed a publishing deal with MCA and became a professional songwriter and hit
gold penning the #1 R&B crossover hit, "Just Because" for singer Anita Baker  and producing acts in Europe.. When he moved to New York's Upper East Side he sang backup for Sting (Note: Sting opened for Ohara in 1980 in St Louis when Sting was with The Police and Ohara was with The Sheiks). In early 2000s he moved back to St. Louis to care for family and he became a minister. He  also wrote and starred in "Isle of Dreams," a "gospel opera" based on the book of Revelations that enjoyed a five-year run in Branson, Mo. He launched a second Branson show, "Michael O'Hara: The Torch Singer," to showcase classic songs from the Great American Songbook. Now based in Fort Worth, Tex., he preaches at a non-denominational church.,  And on Dec 28 he will perform in his hometown at The Blueberry
Hill.

For more info on Ohara  go to  https://www.facebook.com/michael.ohara.376258?fref=ts

This week we feature STL based vlogger Socialite Sande who posted this pic on her Facebook page posting  about her "six-head." LOL

Its been a minute since we have gotten some scoop but we have some for you. We heard from a good source that a famous social media star who is a native of "an upper Midwest city"  is coming to St Louis. This person made news a few years back  for taking a pic with a St. Louis artist that caused controversy and rumors fueled by this person that a romance blossomed  (and was  later dispelled as not true) This person's first and last name  starts with the same letter. Who is this person?

This week we feature St Louis based model Summer Rose Saputo who posted this three panel selfie pic on her Facebook page of her wearing some knockout dresses (the blue shoulderless number is ready for the red carpet.)
