Before we get into the  blog, we would like to remember Mr White Sox  Minnie Minoso who died this week.  He became major league baseball's first black player in Chicago in 1951. There is some question about his age but the White Sox say he was 90.
"
The White Sox also tweeted tributes to Minoso on Sunday morning when he died.
President Barack Obama released a statement on Sunday, saying Minoso "will always be 'Mr. White Sox.'"
Minoso played 12 of his 17 seasons in Chicago, hitting .304 with 135 homers and 808 RBIs for the White Sox. The White Sox retired his No. 9 in 1983 and there is a statue of Minoso at U.S. Cellular Field. He also played for the St Louis Cardinals from 1961 to 1963.d

THE TOP ILLI MO STORY THIS WEEK IS

Oprah Winfrey announced this week that after 26 years, she’s closing Harpo Studios in Chicago, transitioning all productions to OWN studios in Los Angeles.
The closure of Harpo, which had produced more than 800 hours of original programming exclusively for OWN, will reportedly translate to the loss of jobs for roughly 200 employees, who will remain employed through December.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Oprah opened up about shutting down Harpo.

“[Chicago has] been everything for me. I’ve spent more hours in this building than I have any other building on Earth. … We were here when there was nothing but hoes and rats on the street, and now it’s one of the hottest neighborhoods [in Chicago],” she said. “The time had come to downsize this part of the business and to move forward. It will be sad to say goodbye, but I look ahead with such a knowing that what the future holds is even more than I can see.”

The Chicago filmed hit show Empire reportedly rose another three-tenths of a point in the key demo this past Wednesday to hit its latest series high. And American Idol (2.1 adults) bleeding into the 9 p.m. hour means it's all but guaranteed to grow again in the final score. Empire also hit a new viewership high of 14.2 million viewers.

Empire's demo number is basically unprecedented for a typical hour of a broadcast drama in 2015.  Empire is now in a safe position to end the season as broadcast's top scripted show.
Viewers are still coming on board the series, even as the season finale approaches. Fox cites 100,000 new views of Empire's premiere episode per day on VOD, Hulu and the FoxNow app.In related newz, the season finale of Empire is Wednesday, March 18th on FOX. It’s going to be a 2-hour special featuring Patti LaBelle and Chitown native Jennifer Hudson.  As far as the music from the show, one of the songs, "“You’re So Beautiful” debuts at #71 on this week’s  Hot 100 chart. It bests “Keep Your Money,” which peaked at #99, to become the highest-charting “Empire” soundtrack release to date.
The impressive chart bow is attributable to the song’s strong digital sales performance. It debuts at #18 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart.
Presented as an updated version involving the Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) sons Jamal and Hakeem (played by Jussie Smollett and Yazz, respectively), the song was featured in last Wednesday’s episode–and again this week. The version charting on the Hot 100 is credited to “Empire Cast featuring Jussie Smollett and Yazz.”
“You’re So Beautiful” and “Keep Your Money” are thus far the only two “Empire” singles to reach the Hot 100.
Check out WORDZ TO THE WHYZ below for our question about Empire's music hitting the charts.

"Empire" star Terrence Howard was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this week where they talked about Howard's mic meltdown on The Oscars last Sunday.

Apparently, Howard took a little too much pride in vowing to his wife that he’d go off-teleprompter.
“First and foremost, I forgot to wear a belt that day,” Howard said, drawing laughs from Fallon.
And then he saw Oprah in the audience.
“I choked!” he admitted to Fallon, who at this point was howling uproariously with house band leader Questlove.
Fallon rolled the clip, much to Howard’s dismay, but to the joy of the NBC studio audience.
“I thought I had it together, and then I hit the microphone,” Howard said of the loud off-camera thump that put a ribbon on his Academy Awards appearance. “And I was like, ‘Maybe nobody noticed.”

We were wondering what was going on. There were comedians who were saying that he was having an ALS attack on stage. Hilarious.

St Louis native actress Ellie Kemper, who starred in the NBC

sitcom, "The Office," is starring in a new sitcom that is airing

 on Netflix.
Titled “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” its a comedy written by  Tina Fey and writing partner Robert Carlock, late of “30 Rock.” Kemper plays Kimmy, a woman who escapes from a

doomsday cult and starts life over again in New York City.
NBC, which originally picked up “Kimmy,” instead decided to sell it to Netflix, which has committed to two seasons. The first arrives Friday, with all 13 episodes available at once, in the binge-friendly Netflix style.

St Louis Fox 2 News anchor April Simpson and her former colleague Tim Ezell have gone viral with a clip that has garnered more than 2 million views  when comedian Kevin Hart posted the video on his Facebook page.
Hart reportedly posted the 2013 clip from 2013 in which Ezell referred to Simpson as “Hamburglar.” In the video, she was dressed in black-and-white horizontal stripes, like the McDonald's Hamburglar character. She was seen a bit miffed  after Ezell said “Time to get you caught up on your news headlines. For that, the Hamburglar.”

Simpson then said , "I'll let it pass because it’s your  birthday...... I’ll get it later."
Hart posted the clip accompanied by the word “whoa.”
Since the posting, many people have created memes mainly of her with the Hamburglar on social media.

Simpson posted this comment of the national attention: "The hamburgler video has gone viral with over one million views and counting thanks to actor/comedian @KevinHart4real lol lol"
— April Simpson (@foxonfox) March 4, 2015
We can just imagine how April feels getting all this attention.  Media are calling it her "Epic side eye."
Jefferson, Mo native and St Louis raised comic/actor  Cedric The Entertainer will be kicking off season three of his hit sitcom, The Soul Man March 18 on TV Land. It also stars Get ready for a new season of Soul Man. It also stars St Louis bred Niecy Nash and East St Louis bred Wesley Johnathan.

St Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke is getting heat from the city of Los Angeles  about his proposed stadium in Inglewood,  Calif.  It was reported that it was speculated that his stadium "would be vulnerable to terrorists because of its proximity to Los Angeles International Airport (as authored by a former Homeland Security employee)  and another report was made public Tuesday regarding overall safety concerns of having the stadium built so close to flight paths into that airport (as authored by a National Transportation Safety Board employee).
But heres the twist: The reports were reportedly commissioned by AEG, the sports and entertainment firm trying to get an NFL stadium built in downtown Los Angeles, and thus a rival of the Inglewood plan put together by Rams owner Kroenke.
The NTSB report reportedly recommended an extensive technology evaluation on the impact the proposed stadium site would have on the instrument landing systems — or ILS — used at LAX.
It reads: “ILS signals or beams can be very sensitive to obstructions such as large building and electromagnetic interference, both of which could be an issue with the proposed stadium site.”
Inglewood developers have reportedly hired a consultant to make sure they comply with Federal Aviation Administration regulations. According to the Los Angeles Times, in last week’s story on the (terrorism threat) report, the Inglewood stadium playing field will be 100 feet below the ground to meet FAA guidelines.

Hmm, interesting that the reports were funded by AEG whose trying to build their own stadium near the Staples Center.  Wonder if this is a ploy to intimidate Kroenke's plans to build a stadium which would be a few miles apart from AEG''s in downtown Los Angeles, Then lets not forget the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders last month said they would build their own stadium in Carson, about 15 miles farther south. And St Louis city approving plans for teh new Riverfront Stadium for the hopes of The St Louis Rams staying in the city and not move with Kroenke to Cali. So the stadiums wars are heating up and who will be left out in the cold? Hmm guess we will find out after the 2015 NFL Season.

THIS WEEK  MARCH 2006

Wassup Wassup Wassup cyberpeople! It's Ma'at here again. And I have some things to tell you all of what have been going down since the last time I cyberposted to you all. Well, ain't nothing to it, but to do it.
Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to check out the flick, Pieces of a Dream, the Alton Ill. filmed Hollywood budgeted movie that had its Red Carpet premiere this week at the Ice Theatres: Chatham 14 in Chi-Town (on w. 87th street in the hood.) And the good thing about the event was that it was showing at a black-owned theater. It was nice and was not raggedy or run-down. It was a top notch place. I was impressed. I'm not going to front. You know how we are sometime when we have our own(WE TEAR IT UP like scratch paper) . But anyway, STL needs to take heed on this (Roberts Brothers--hint-hint.). We need a black-owned theater in the STL. I know a few years ago, Magic Johnson was trying to get a chain of his theaters here but word on the street was a few STL politicians told Johnson that it wouldnt work here in the STL.

Well, when I was talking to a buddy of mine at a another radio station, he was tellin' me that they got the boot yesterday right after their shift. I also heard PD, Garth Adams also got the boot, too. WHOA! Who saw that comin? Rumor has it it might have been becasue of the conversation on how to find weed on one of their shows a few days back. I also heard that the Morning show's ratings wasnt up to par neither especailly after Dee Lee's Morning Show on the Beat left the air a few months back in place for Steve Harveys Show. The radio biz aint no joke.....................Whats this I hear about former Vashon Coach Floyd Irons gettin back in the couching game. Well, from reports, they are saying that Irons wants his old job back coachin at Vashon where he led the school with several state titel sin its 30 year career there Only problem is former NBA star and Vashon alumni Anthony Bonner was hired to be the coach after Irons' ousting last summer. Hmmm, this is about to get interesting!......................

The other big news story was the St. Louis rams saying bye-bye to wide receiver vet player Isaac Bruce and hello to a new home last week. The four-time Pro Bowler has agreed to a two-year, $6 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers. Bruce, who is also 35 (like Spezio) formally signed his two-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers this past Tuesday, four days after agreeing to continue his 14-year career with the St. Louis Rams' longtime division rival.Bruce, who trails only Jerry Rice and Tim Brown in career receiving yardage, could be the 49ers' No. 1 receiver next season under offensive coordinator Mike Martz, the longtime architect of the Rams offense.
