  1. I CERTAINLY DO! 20 years ago...I was honored to be on the same stage as Dr. Angelou to perform in 1 of 3 opening acts for her in St. Louis, MO. The Auxiliary to the Mound City Medical Forum graciously allowed me [Peggy Neely Harris, accompanied by my niece, Genna Neely] a chance to perform an original theatrical piece for her event. IT WAS BREATHTAKING, TO KNOW THAT MY WORKS OF ART IN DRAMA WAS A PRELUDE TO DR. MAYA ANGELOU'S..."AN EVENING WITH MAYA ANGELOU!" It was especially great for my niece at the time, as she was just learning how to embody works of art through the senses, and really understand that she was representing a phenomenal woman that evening!
When our segment was over, and we took our place in the wings. We could hardly contain ourselves backstage, as we watched a royal poetess walk from behind the curtain to take to the podium...the audience roared with applause! It was a hair-raising moment, as her delivery was captivating...with a life lesson in her message. My niece and I shall always REMEMBER DR. MAYA ANGELOU for that encounter! We are convinced that while the auxiliary allowed us the opportunity, Dr. Angelou actually helped in shaping us in the arts from that evening forward! Please see the post & original PR article of that evening from the 1994 performance on FB under Peggy Harris?
