Oprah was inside Wait Chapel at Wake Forest until 1 p.m. Monday with a group helping to plan the memorial service.
The family has arranged a private memorial service in Wake Forest University’s Wait Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday. Angelou’s family decided to have a closed service for family and friends only, due to limited seating capacity.
“We are limiting access to the campus, to those who are invited and to those who need to be here,” said University Spokesman Kevin Cox.
Oprah and a handful of others were in Wait Chapel for at least a half hour. They discussed seating arrangements, where the family will watch from and how the chapel will be decorated. For the university, it’s an honor to host the services for a woman they say gave them so much.
“We expect that her impact on us will go on for years and years,” said Cox.
It is unclear as to who will be in attendance, but university officials say they’re confident they can keep them and the campus safe.
“We’ve hosted every kind of possible event on this campus that have had extremely high levels of security, and lower levels, and we’re prepared to meet whatever the need is,” said Cox.
University officials say even though they have a traffic management plan, people living in the Wake Forest area should anticipate heavy traffic on Saturday morning.
Angelou died Wednesday in her Winston-Salem home. She was 86. She had been reportedly battling health problems.
Angelou’s family will be planning additional celebrations of her life in other cities across the country, according to Wake Forest.

RIP Dr Maya...... and lets hope those pesky protesters don't go down there causing a ruckus.

UPDATE:Former President Bill Clinton and media icon Oprah Winfrey were among the speakers honoring poet, author and civil rights activist Maya Angelou at a private memorial service in North Carolina on Saturday.
“She called our attention in thousands of ways to her belief that life is a gift manifest in each new day,” Clinton said in a reflection during the service at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, where Angelou taught for three decades.
Angelou wrote the poem "On the Pulse of Morning" and read it at Clinton's first presidential inauguration in 1993.
Angelou died at her Winston-Salem home on May 28 at age 86. Her legacy as a role model was a theme throughout many of the reflections given by dignitaries, including first lady Michelle Obama and legendary actress Cicely Tyson.

Winfrey, who credited Angelou as a mentor and friend, discussed how Angelou helped guide her through her career after they first met during an interview.
“She was my spiritual queen mother and in everything that word implies she was the ultimate teacher,” Winfrey said through tears during the service. “She taught me the poetry of courage and respect.”\
Tyson spoke to Angelou’s abilities as an artist during the service, based on their decades-long friendship.
“I can tell you that every emotion known to man was exhibited by Maya,” Tyson said. “She held back nothing.”
Tyson met Angelou in the 1960s when both women performed in “The Blacks,” a play directed by Jean Genet, which Tyson said has influenced black theater ever since.
In 2011, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian honor, was bestowed upon Angelou by President Barack Obama.
After her death, Obama said he and the first lady cherished the time they had spent with Angelou, for whom the president said his sister was named.
Winfrey called Angelou her "mentor, mother/sister and friend."
Angelou served as a professor of American Studies at Wake Forest since 1982, and had planned to teach a course on race, culture and gender this fall, the university said.

In unrelated Oprah newz, she will reportedly  will narrate the audiobook version of What I Know for Sure, an updated collection of the monthly column she has written for the past 14 years for O, The Oprah Magazine.
Both the book, published by Flatiron, and the four-hour audio, will be released Sept 2.
Her publisher has said the book will be organized around themes including joy, awe and possibility, and will offer "readers a guide to becoming their best selves."
In announcing the audiobook news Tuesday, Mary Beth Roche, president and publisher of Macmillan Audio, said, "Throughout her career, Oprah has created unparalleled connections with millions of people. Listeners to the audiobook will appreciate hearing the thoughtful insights shared in this book in Oprah's own voice."
Winfrey began her monthly column after film critic Gene Siskel asked her, "What do you know for sure?"

People magazine reported that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding photo has, broken an Instagram record, with 1.92 million people (and counting) having clicked that little red heart. The photo of the bride and groom locking lips, posted by Kardashian on May 27, is now the most liked photo in Instagram's three-year history. The photo depicting wedded bliss knocks out an image of another one-time celebrity couple. An image of Selena Gomez embracing Justin Bieber, which Bieber posted back in January, previously held the record with 1.82 million likes

So now that they are married, the countdown starts from naysayers who are waiting the day they split.....wouldnt it be funny if they end of being married until death do they part?  Yes, it would be. lol

A documentary about the late Chicago native film critic Roger Ebert "Life Itself,”  opens in theaters on July 4.  It's based on his autobiography, and  was OKd before Ebert's passing a couple years ago. It  was directed by his friend Steve James  of Hoop Dreams” fame.

Award winning Plainfield, Mo actress Melissa McCarthy is starting her own plus-size line after admitting that she has trouble finding styles to fit her frame. Covering the July 2014 issue of Redbook magazine, on newsstands June 10th, McCarthy revealed that when she was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012 for her role in Bridesmaids, she didn't know what she was going to wear. "When I go shopping, most of the time I'm disappointed," the 43-year-old said. "Two Oscars ago, I couldn't find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers--very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people--and they all said no."
Hmm, even as big as a star is Melissa (no pun intended), Hollywood still has its prejudices of entertainers who are not stick thin.

Rock Opera Jesus Christ Superstar, that was scheduled to tour 50 North American cities over the summer including Chicago and St Louis has been curtained. The New York Times announced recently that the show was abruptly canceled due to low ticket sales.
One of its stars was Rockford, Ill native singer Michelle Williams', who was set to play Mary Magdelene, said that the cancellation has freed her up for even more opportunities on the horizon.
"I'll be honest and say this frees me up to work my album  (Journey to Freedom) for the summer," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I know there were sacrifices made for the tour. I couldn't take certain offers that came my way so now we're able to capture some of those opportunities again."

In related Michelle news, she just wrapped the video to the single' Say Yes"  from her upcoming album thats (due in September) that reunited her former Destiny Child members Beyonce and Kelly Rowland....they just wrapped up the music video to the single last month . (PICTURED is a professional still from the video shoot)
We feel its time for another Destinys Child album, what do you think?

Why are people up in arms with POTUS  prison swap  and want him to apologize?
Why has the media wait until now to leak those N-word laced tapes of Justin Bieber?
Why did Ray J break out the window of that police car with his feet when he was arrested?
Why did Serena Williams crash that couples wedding?
Why did Lance Stephenson blow in Lebron James ear on the bball court?
Why did that pastor have a sermon involving using Chris Brown's "Loyal" song?
Why did Pharrell have to apologize for wearing a Native American headdress on the
cover of Elle UK? And why do some people bring
their dogs to  restaurant areas outside?
