Former St Louis resident music superstar Tina Turner is no longer American. The U.S. Embassy in Bern, Switzerland confirms this week that she was in the embassy in late October to sign her “Statement of Voluntary Relinquishment of U.S. Citizenship.” Still, this was a long time coming.

Turner had announced the step in January. After her long-time residency there and marriage to German record executive Erwin Bach, it makes sense. And while it doubtless wasn’t tax motivated, our tax system doesn’t exactly help.

Turner retired from the concert stage in 2009. She moved to Switzerland in 1995 when her longtime partner, Mr. Bach, was transferred.

Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock, lives in the Zurich suburb of Kuesnacht. She needed approval from the canton of Zurich as well as Swiss federal authorities before receiving the red Swiss passport.

From other reports, it as speculation that Turner’s move came for tax reasons. She became a Swiss national in April and, according to an Oct. 24 U.S. Embassy “activity report,”  has declared  that she no longer has any strong ties to the United States and “has no plans to reside” here in the future.

St Joseph, Mo native rap superstar Eminem's new album, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" is giving the rapper's original 2000 "Marshall Mathers LP" a run for its money. Slim Shady's latest offering hit stores on Nov. 5 and is already proving hugely successful.
"The Marshall Mathers LP 2" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Em one of his most successful first sales weeks in recent history. The album also earned Eminem the second-highest sales week of the year, falling only to the premiere of Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience."

Led by the first songs off of the album, "Berzerk" and "Rap God," the "MMLP2" singles are dominating as well, Billboard reports. Eminem currently counts 10 songs on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The rapper's collaboration with Rihanna, "The Monster," leads at No. 1, followed by his "Rap God" at No. 2. Eminem continues his entries on the chart with "Berzerk" at No. 7, "Survival" at No. 10, "Beautiful Pain" at No. 30, "Love Game" at No. 31, "Headlights" at No. 35, "Bad Guy" and No. 38, "Rhyme or Reason" at No. 41, and "Legacy" at No. 44.
In the past, st Louis bred rap superstar Nelly has expressed hisfrustration with a group of protesters who boycotted his 2004 bone marrow drive at Spelman College due to his sexually explicit music video, “Tip Drill.” The planned drive was in support of his sister, Jacqueline Donahue, who later lost her battle to leukemia in 2005.
And while the multi-platinum rapper may have been mum on the college’s protest in recent years, today during an appearance on HuffPost Live he revealed the one thing he would’ve done differently in retrospect to the demonstration.
“The Spelman thing, the only thing I feel I would’ve did different is kick somebody’s ass…that’s just how it felt to me, Pimp,” he said to host Marc Lamont Hill. “I don’t have my sister. And I doubt it if half of those girls are still campaigning for what they quote, unquote took advantage for that opportunity for.”

“You [protesters] robbed me of a opportunity. Unfairly, my brother. Because we could’ve still had your conversation after I got my opportunity, but it could’ve been somebody that was coming to that bone marrow drive that day, that was possibly a match for my sister. That didn’t come because of that…”

Oscar Winner Jennifer Hudson has been immortalized. The singer, who was introduced to the world on America Idol, just got a star on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame. With her fiance Pro Wrestler David “Punk”
Otunga and her son David, Jr. in tow, and
Jennifer's sister Julia was there too, and was seen posing for a family picture together.

The singer reported;ly grew visibly emotional while accepting the award, and was seen wiping her nose with a tissue at one point.

Hudson will be co-starring in the movie Black Nativity, which opens in theatres November 27th.

Chicgao native and St Louis reared supermodel Karlie

Kloss was reportedly the highlight  at the Victoria's Secret

Fashion Show 2013, which taped in downtown NYC on

Wednesday, Nov. 13 in advance of next month's annual

special on CBS. Strutting down the runway alongside such

women as Behati Prinsloo, Adriana Lima, Alessandro

Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge and other

 impossibly toned, beautiful catwalkers,

The showstopper was reportedly during the finale, Kloss sashayed past Taylor Swift (singing "I Knew You Were Trouble") on the glittery catwalk in an equally glittery, sheer, skintight catsuit that recalled the likes of similarly revealing looks by Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears, among others. Earlier in the show, during the "British Invasian" segment, Kloss was a "Psychedelic Angel," working custom-painted wings, Victoria's Secret Designer Collection Bra and Very Sexy Cheekini bottoms. For a nautical-themed "Shipwrecked" segment of the show, the brunette, wore Drift Wood Wings, Victoria's Secret Designer Collection Bra and Matching Panty.

Tune in to the 2013 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.

Fresh off his collaboration with Lady Gaga, Chicago native R&B superstar R. Kelly is hopping in the studio with another pop superstar.

On Wednesday (November 13), the same day he released

a teaser trailer for his upcoming movie, "Believe," Justin

Bieber confirmed that he and the Chicago singer have

teamed up for some music coming "next week."

In atweet, the 19-year-old linked to a Vibe magazine article in which Kelly reveals the pair are working together.

"I just did a song [with him]," R. Kelly told the magazine during a private listening for his upcoming album, Black Panties. "[Justin] just called me to do a song, and it's hot. He wanted to go and do some R&B stuff, so we got together and did that."

Kansas City, Mo native actor Don Cheadle is taking on the role of jazz pioneer Miles Davis in a new film.
Ewan McGregor and Zoe Saldana will also star in Kill the Trumpet Player, BiFrost Pictures has announced. The film will tell the story of a few dangerous days in the life of Miles Davis as he bursts out of his silent period and conspires with aRolling Stone writer (McGregor) to steal back his music.
Cheadle will also make his feature directorial debut from a script co-written with Steven Baigelman.
"Don is one of our generation's greatest actors, and this is the role he was born to play," says BiFrost principal Daniel Wagner in a statement. "His take on the conventional biopic of one of music's most celebrated icons is cinematic 'jazz' and too unique to resist. It fits naturally with BiFrost's commitment to support talent and their passion projects, so we are thrilled to work with Don on his feature directorial debut."

Chicago native actor Terrence Howard went on Watch What Happens Live last night. Although nominally pitching his role in The Best Man Holiday, Howard wound up taking a question about a role from half a decade ago. The actor originated the role of James Rhodes in Iron Man — but he didn’t return for the sequels, which saw Don Cheadle play the character in ever-more-elaborate robo-suits.

Reports at the time indicated that Howard departed over a salary dispute. As reported by EW’s Nicole Sperling, Howard actually made more than Downey on the first Iron Man. (That was then and this is now.) But Howard layered in some juicy new accusations. “The person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out,” he explains in the video. When the studio offered him a much smaller fee for an Iron Man sequel, Howard claims he called the actor in question — he never names Downey, but connect the dots here people — for help. “He didn’t call me back for three months,” says Howard.

The 22nd edition of the St. Louis International Film Festival is double-stuffed with goodies. There are family-friendly free events, Hollywood-blockbuster previews, hands-on training sessions and special guests galore.
The most notable guest this year is director Oliver Stone, who will receive a lifetime achievement award on a very special date: Nov. 22, the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. St Louis Post Dispatch movie critic Joe Williams who has written a book on the subject, will conduct a Q&A with Stone at 7 p.m. at the Tivoli before a screening of his epic “JFK.”
An award-winner with local ties is documentarian A.J. Schnack, who kicked off the festival Nov. 14 with his music-minded Branson flick “We Always Lie to Strangers.” (There is an encore screening at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville.) Schnack, a Metro East native who is receiving the Charles Guggenheim Award for local luminaries, has another film at the fest, the political-campaign documentary “Caucus,” screening at 6:45 p.m. Friday at Plaza Frontenac.

Kanye yet again is the topic of discussion...the Chicago

reared rap star, who is currently suing a co-founder of

YouTube, has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor battery

and attempted grand theft in a case filed over a scuffle with

a celebrity photographer earlier this year.

According to AP, Ye's attorney  entered the plea on the

rapper's behalf Thursday in a Los Angeles court. West

was charged with two misdemeanors in September over a

July altercation with paparazzo Daniel Ramos at Los

Angeles International Airport.

Prosecutors declined to file felony charges against West,

but decided to pursue the misdemeanors. Each carries a

penalty of up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine.

Ramos claims West punched him in an unprovoked attack

and wrestled his camera to the ground on July 19. West

claims he acted in self-defense

West's case is due back in court on Jan. 23

In other Ye newz,  rumor has it that he has taken complete

control over the wedding  planning and Kim Kardashian.

He, is going to make their big day the most extravagant

event ever!

West has been taking over all of the wedding planning for

his upcoming nuptials to Kim , and according to a new

report, West is planning a $5 million wedding extravaganza!

According toHollywood Life, West is planning a two-week-

long wedding celebration on the Italian island of Capri, and

plans to make sure his wedding day outshines any other.

“He’s making a public statement that his wedding tops all

weddings throughout history,” one family source explained

of West.

Leasing a villa for the event will cost West somewhere

around $500,000, and sources say that he is planning to

foot almost the entire bill for their guests, with the exception

of flights. “Kanye is friends with the three-star Michelin chef

Massimo Bottura. Sample menus have already been

mocked up for Kanye to peruse,” another pal dished of the

food that guests will be dining on. Guests will reportedly

have paid grand suites for the two week period, and all the

events are on Kanye. Rumor also had it that he going for a

black, gold and diamond color scheme for the big day.

And in more Ye newz, he does not care if his Confederate flag merchandise is creating controversy -- in fact, he took it one step further on Monday, Nov. 4 by wearing a jacket emblazoned with the mark to a Barney's New York store in Beverly Hills.

During an Oct. 25 concert in Las Vegas, West blasted Barneys on-stage after the embattled retailer faced accusations of racially-profiling black customers in stores.

According to reports, An incredulous West reacted during his performance of "New Slaves": "Don't touch anything in the store. Excuse me, that's that 'Can I help you sir?' That's that racial profiling out in front of Barneys and sh-t. Talking about, 'Did you steal that?'"

Riling up even more controversy on Monday, West sported a green utility jacket with a bold Confederate flag marked on his right sleeve during an outing to the store.(PICTURED ABOVE)

Ye got flak  as observers pointed out that some of his Yeezus official tour merchandise is marked with the Confederate flag. During an interview with Los Angeles' 97.1 AMP Radio on Oct. 28, West defended his use of the controversial symbol.
"The Confederate flag represented slavery in a way. That's my abstract take on what I know about it, right?," he shared. "So I wrote the song 'New Slaves.' So I took the Confederate flag and made it my flag. It's my flag now. Now what you gonna do?"

He later added, "It's colorless also. It's super-hood and super white-boy-approved at the same time." West also divulged during the interview that he had turned to Tyler the Creator for help on his Yeezus tour merchandise. "He's so talented and understands things," said West abotiut his 22-year-old rapper-producer protege.
"The world is controversial," Ye said. "The world is classist. The world is racist.”

The 40th Annual People's Choice Awards were announced this week and several entertainers from the Illinois and Missouri area were nominated, The biggest nominee was Plainfield, Ill native actress Melissa McCarthy with four:  Favorite Movie Actress and Movie Duo (with Sandra Bullock for "The Heat") ; Comedic Movie Actress and Comedic TV Actress. Other nominees were Springfield, Mo bred actor  Brad Pitt  for Action Movie Star ("World War Z"); former Chicagoan Oprah Winfrey for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress ("The Butler");  Doloth, Ill native actress Jane Lynch for Favorite Comedic TV Actress; Melissa's cousin Chicagoan Jenny McCarthy was nominated for New TV talk show host and Chicago bred actor Kanye West was nominated for Favorite Hip Hop Artist.
The award show will air live on CBS on Jan. 8

Speaking of Brad Pitt, his company Plan B, is behind the Oscar buzzed film, "12 Years a Slave" that he also stars. However, despite the long-standing relationship between Pitt and Paramount Pictures chairman BradGrey, there is a tense confrontation underway between the studio and Pitt's Plan B production company over the film.

According to industry sources, the dispute arises from Paramount's belief that executives at Plan B breached the company's deal with the studio by failing to offer Paramount a chance to finance and distribute the movie from director Steve McQueen. In April 2012, a few weeks before filming began, New Regency agreed to co-finance and distribute the picture via Fox Searchlight.

Grey and Paramount declined to comment. Plan B executiveDede Gardner did not respond to a request for comment. Neither did CAA, which represents Pitt and had worked to arrange financing for the film.
12 Years is off to a strong start at the box office, in limited release, having grossed $3.4 million so far. Based on the memoir bySolomon Northup and starring an ensemble that includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, MichaelFassbender and Pitt, the film has shot to the top of most Oscar projectors' best picture lists.

Kansas City, Mo native Columbus Short is red hot these days due to his starring in one of TV's most talked about and group watched show, "Scandal" which is currently in its third season. In the show he plays Harrison Wright one of the fixers of Olivia Pope and Associates. From reports, his character will receive his own backstory (his character is the only one on the show that has yet to have one) this season....
All fans really know about Harrison thus far is that he went to jail after he worked for an insider trader. He was supposed to serve eight years but only spent six months behind bars thanks to Olivia's help. A flashback episode devoted to Harrison would likely detail exactly what went wrong in his past and how Olivia was able to get him out of jail after half a year.
Short is also on the cover of the November issue of the monthly St Louis fashion mag, Alive. In it, he talks about his role on Scandal and how show runner Shonda Rhimes uses what he does on set as an influence on the show.

Chicago rapper Chief Keef got permission from a Cook County judge Friday to enter a private drug treatment facility out of state after the rapper tested positive for marijuana, officials said.

Keef, whose real name is Keith Cozart, was in court again at the Skokie courthouse on Friday to ask  the judge  for permission to enter the drug treatment facility in California, said officials.

Cozart will be going to one of the Promises Treatment Centers a high-cost, for-profit treatment program that has housed celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. Promises has facilities in Malibu and West Los Angeles and has been the target of high-profile lawsuits and criticisms of its methods.

Cozart, 19, was also in court Wednesday after he tested positive for drugs on two occasions, the Cook County sheriff's department said. They said he had been ordered to undergo random drug testing after pleading guilty to a speeding ticket he received over the summer.

The judge on Wednesday had ordered Cozart to undergo 90 days of drug treatment at the Haymarket Center, a residential treatment center on the West Side. But Cook County sheriff's officials delayed sending him there pending a hearing to clarify with the judge whether he intended that Cozart be housed in a facility that is not guarded, officials said.

On Friday Hoffenberg told Cozart that he could go to the California treatment facility, which Cozart will have to pay for.

Cozart will spend his first 30 days in the facility in a "secure area" and after that he will be able to work, depending on his 30-day progress report, officials said.

They said Cozart's next court date is Dec. 12 at the Skokie courthouse and at that time the judge will review his progress in rehab.

According to AP- The national sportsmanship award named for baseball great Stan Musial will honor the team he played for.Organizers of the Musial Awards say the pinnacle honor for 2013 will go to the St. Louis Cardinals in a ceremony Saturday night at the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis. The awards recognize sportsmanship achievements from across the country, though this award goes to a hometown team: The awards are handed out by the St. Louis Sports Commission and the National Sportsmanship Foundation. The Cardinals won their 19th National League pennant, but lost to the Boston Red Sox in the World Series. A news release from the award organizers says the team is being given the Musial Award for "playing with heart, class, character and respect for the game."

In other Cardinals newz  Individual honors continue to come the Cardinals' way this offseason, with Yadier Molina and Matt Carpenter the latest from the National League champion club to win awards. Molina and Carpenter both became first-time Silver Slugger Award winners on Wednesday, ending a two-year run in which the Cards were shut out in the award voting. The Silver Slugger Award, which has been given annually since 1980, recognizes the player whom managers and coaches vote as the best offensively at each position in each league. Managers/coaches are not permitted to vote for players on their own team. Winners receive a three-foot tall bat-shaped, silver trophy.
Carpenter is the first second baseman in franchise history to be a Silver Slugger Award winner. Molina joins Ted Simmons (1980) as the only Cardinals catchers to earn the offensive honor.
The hardware is just the latest in a growing offseason collection for Molina. He recently won his sixth straight Gold Glove, and he is a favorite to take home a third Platinum Glove later this month. Molina is one of four players -- along with Paul GoldschmidtAdam Jones and J.J. Hardy -- to win both a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger this season.
Molina was also named a finalist for the Baseball Writers' Association of America Most Valuable Player Award. That distinction ensures Molina of the highest MVP finish in his 10-year career. The winner will be announced next Thursday.
