ILLI MO BITZ

Former St Louis resident music superstar Tina Turner is no longer American. The U.S. Embassy in Bern, Switzerland confirms this week that she was in the embassy in late October to sign her “Statement of Voluntary Relinquishment of U.S. Citizenship.” Still, this was a long time coming.

Turner had announced the step in January. After her long-time residency there and marriage to German record executive Erwin Bach, it makes sense. And while it doubtless wasn’t tax motivated, our tax system doesn’t exactly help.

Turner retired from the concert stage in 2009. She moved to Switzerland in 1995 when her longtime partner, Mr. Bach, was transferred.

Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock, lives in the Zurich suburb of Kuesnacht. She needed approval from the canton of Zurich as well as Swiss federal authorities before receiving the red Swiss passport.

From other reports, it as speculation that Turner’s move came for tax reasons. She became a Swiss national in April and, according to an Oct. 24 U.S. Embassy “activity report,”  has declared  that she no longer has any strong ties to the United States and “has no plans to reside” here in the future.

St Joseph, Mo native rap superstar Eminem's new album, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" is giving the rapper's original 2000 "Marshall Mathers LP" a run for its money. Slim Shady's latest offering hit stores on Nov. 5 and is already proving hugely successful.
"The Marshall Mathers LP 2" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Em one of his most successful first sales weeks in recent history. The album also earned Eminem the second-highest sales week of the year, falling only to the premiere of Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience."

Led by the first songs off of the album, "Berzerk" and "Rap God," the "MMLP2" singles are dominating as well, Billboard reports. Eminem currently counts 10 songs on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The rapper's collaboration with Rihanna, "The Monster," leads at No. 1, followed by his "Rap God" at No. 2. Eminem continues his entries on the chart with "Berzerk" at No. 7, "Survival" at No. 10, "Beautiful Pain" at No. 30, "Love Game" at No. 31, "Headlights" at No. 35, "Bad Guy" and No. 38, "Rhyme or Reason" at No. 41, and "Legacy" at No. 44.
In the past, st Louis bred rap superstar Nelly has expressed hisfrustration with a group of protesters who boycotted his 2004 bone marrow drive at Spelman College due to his sexually explicit music video, “Tip Drill.” The planned drive was in support of his sister, Jacqueline Donahue, who later lost her battle to leukemia in 2005.
And while the multi-platinum rapper may have been mum on the college’s protest in recent years, today during an appearance on HuffPost Live he revealed the one thing he would’ve done differently in retrospect to the demonstration.
“The Spelman thing, the only thing I feel I would’ve did different is kick somebody’s ass…that’s just how it felt to me, Pimp,” he said to host Marc Lamont Hill. “I don’t have my sister. And I doubt it if half of those girls are still campaigning for what they quote, unquote took advantage for that opportunity for.”

“You [protesters] robbed me of a opportunity. Unfairly, my brother. Because we could’ve still had your conversation after I got my opportunity, but it could’ve been somebody that was coming to that bone marrow drive that day, that was possibly a match for my sister. That didn’t come because of that…”

Chicgao native and St Louis reared supermodel Karlie

Kloss was reportedly the highlight  at the Victoria's Secret

Fashion Show 2013, which taped in downtown NYC on

Wednesday, Nov. 13 in advance of next month's annual

special on CBS. Strutting down the runway alongside such

women as Behati Prinsloo, Adriana Lima, Alessandro

Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge and other

 impossibly toned, beautiful catwalkers,

The showstopper was reportedly during the finale, Kloss sashayed past Taylor Swift (singing "I Knew You Were Trouble") on the glittery catwalk in an equally glittery, sheer, skintight catsuit that recalled the likes of similarly revealing looks by Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears, among others. Earlier in the show, during the "British Invasian" segment, Kloss was a "Psychedelic Angel," working custom-painted wings, Victoria's Secret Designer Collection Bra and Very Sexy Cheekini bottoms. For a nautical-themed "Shipwrecked" segment of the show, the brunette, wore Drift Wood Wings, Victoria's Secret Designer Collection Bra and Matching Panty.

Tune in to the 2013 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.

Fresh off his collaboration with Lady Gaga, Chicago native R&B superstar R. Kelly is hopping in the studio with another pop superstar.

On Wednesday (November 13), the same day he released

a teaser trailer for his upcoming movie, "Believe," Justin

Bieber confirmed that he and the Chicago singer have

teamed up for some music coming "next week."

In atweet, the 19-year-old linked to a Vibe magazine article in which Kelly reveals the pair are working together.

"I just did a song [with him]," R. Kelly told the magazine during a private listening for his upcoming album, Black Panties. "[Justin] just called me to do a song, and it's hot. He wanted to go and do some R&B stuff, so we got together and did that."

Kansas City, Mo native actor Don Cheadle is taking on the role of jazz pioneer Miles Davis in a new film.
Ewan McGregor and Zoe Saldana will also star in Kill the Trumpet Player, BiFrost Pictures has announced. The film will tell the story of a few dangerous days in the life of Miles Davis as he bursts out of his silent period and conspires with aRolling Stone writer (McGregor) to steal back his music.
Cheadle will also make his feature directorial debut from a script co-written with Steven Baigelman.
"Don is one of our generation's greatest actors, and this is the role he was born to play," says BiFrost principal Daniel Wagner in a statement. "His take on the conventional biopic of one of music's most celebrated icons is cinematic 'jazz' and too unique to resist. It fits naturally with BiFrost's commitment to support talent and their passion projects, so we are thrilled to work with Don on his feature directorial debut."

Chicago native actor Terrence Howard went on Watch What Happens Live last night. Although nominally pitching his role in The Best Man Holiday, Howard wound up taking a question about a role from half a decade ago. The actor originated the role of James Rhodes in Iron Man — but he didn’t return for the sequels, which saw Don Cheadle play the character in ever-more-elaborate robo-suits.

Reports at the time indicated that Howard departed over a salary dispute. As reported by EW’s Nicole Sperling, Howard actually made more than Downey on the first Iron Man. (That was then and this is now.) But Howard layered in some juicy new accusations. “The person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out,” he explains in the video. When the studio offered him a much smaller fee for an Iron Man sequel, Howard claims he called the actor in question — he never names Downey, but connect the dots here people — for help. “He didn’t call me back for three months,” says Howard.

The 22nd edition of the St. Louis International Film Festival is double-stuffed with goodies. There are family-friendly free events, Hollywood-blockbuster previews, hands-on training sessions and special guests galore.
The most notable guest this year is director Oliver Stone, who will receive a lifetime achievement award on a very special date: Nov. 22, the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. St Louis Post Dispatch movie critic Joe Williams who has written a book on the subject, will conduct a Q&A with Stone at 7 p.m. at the Tivoli before a screening of his epic “JFK.”
An award-winner with local ties is documentarian A.J. Schnack, who kicked off the festival Nov. 14 with his music-minded Branson flick “We Always Lie to Strangers.” (There is an encore screening at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville.) Schnack, a Metro East native who is receiving the Charles Guggenheim Award for local luminaries, has another film at the fest, the political-campaign documentary “Caucus,” screening at 6:45 p.m. Friday at Plaza Frontenac.
