The Chicago Cubs journey ended Wednesday night at Wrigley Field with an 8-3 loss to the
Mets, who swept them out of the National League Championship Series like they
were taking out the recyclables. The Mets were
where they believe they belong — heading to the World Series for the first time
in 15 years.
Well, it was a
long road for The Cubs and they were so close to going to the big game. So much
hype came from their being in the running and even scrapped up Michael J Fox
and other actors from back To The Future II, the 1985 film that predicted in
2015 the Cubs would win the World Series. The Cubs hasn't reached a World Series since
1945, or won one since 1908 so the question next year will be, will the franchise
be back in the running next year….guess we will have to find out when the 2016
season starts in April..
Meanwhile,
The Mets will wait Friday
nite to see if they will
compete
against either the American League Division
teams Kansas City
Royals or the Toronto Blue Jays in Game
6 of
the AL Championship Series. Toronto forced the series
back to Kansas City with
a 7-1 rout on Wednesday, closing
UPDATE: Kansas City won over Toronto 4-3 in Game 6, Final at. Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri. They advance to the World series and play The Mets. The team begin the World Series on Tuesday night at 8:07 p.m. ET vs. the New York Mets at Kauffman Stadium.
Wes Plains, Mo native Dick
Van Dyke has released his new book, Keep Moving ,giving tips on how to age gracefully and
staying young. Dyke, who will be turning 90 in December, says "I've
always kept moving, which is the most important thing," Van Dyke told ET
when asked about the secret to his youthfulness. "I'm either singing or
dancing or something."
His 44-year-old wife
Arlene is another secret that’s helped kept Van Dyke in good shape.
"We were friends for
a long time before I talked her into marrying me, which was an uphill
battle," Van Dyke joked. "She's a great cook -- great everything. And
we both dance a lot. I came in the other morning and she was washing dishes with
her tap shoes on."
While Van Dyke visits the
gym every morning, he's not as strict about his diet once he gets home.
"I eat what I
want," Van Dyke said. "I eat like a pint of ice cream every
night."
One unhealthy consumption
that he has been able to cut out is alcohol. Van Dyke said that drinking used
to be a problem but that he overcame it through the power of prayer.
"I went to all the
rehab and all that kind of thing," Van Dyke said. "I just said, 'I
got to get rid of it. Please take it away.' Slowly it started to make me a
little sick, a little dizzy. All of a sudden, I didn't want it anymore, which
is wonderful."
Chicago based Ebony Magazine is the causing controversy over the cover of its November issue putting a picture of Cosby’s TV family under cracked glass. The cover story involves how Bill Cosby's alleged rape allegations has tainted the sitcom as well as the image of the black family.
Goldie Taylor, who wrote the piece, said that,
though many think “Cosby” upended racism, the comedian’s prime-time juggernaut
may have perpetuated it.
Taylor pointed out that the show came at a critical time in the
cultural, social and political portrayals of African Americans, and that in the
fall of 1984, “network honchos at NBC took a huge gamble: They put a strong, loving
and successful Black family on prime-time television.”
This was not okay with many Ebony readers, who took issue with
both the article’s premise and the striking image used to convey it. Some pointed out that, unlike Cosby,
other celebrities who had actually admitted to sexual misconduct — white
men such as Jared Fogle of Subway and Steven Collins of “7th Heaven” —
weren’t as scrutinized as Cosby.
“How rude of you to assume to know for a fact that he did this,”
one commenter on the article’s preview page wrote. “You,
nor the women can show any evidence. My grandchild will have the entire DVD set
of this show because it has value!”
“This magazine cover was done in very poor taste,” another
wrote. “Not only is it defacing Bill Cosby, but the shattered glass is also
reflecting off of his cast members who had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH his
allegations. Terrible. Do better Ebony Magazine.”
Well, as they say, controversy breeds in America....but as far as the cover, its a bit staggering visually, but we feel the show shouldnt be taken off the air---it isnt Cliff Huxtible thats on trial, its Bill Cosby...and he has yet to be charged of sex crimes.
Fox TV megahit and Chicago filmed “Empire” headed into its first
break of the season on a ratings uptick Wednesday, dominating the evening and
drawing as many young adults as the night’s next two top shows combined. “Empire”
averaged a 4.8 rating/15 share in adults 18-49 and 12.28 million viewers
overall from 9 to 10 p.m., up a tick from last week for the show’s first
week-over-week gain of the season. It was also up 4% from its fifth episode of
its rookie season. “Empire” was especially dominant in adults 18-34, where its
4.4 rating/17 share more than doubled the No. 2 program on Wednesday, ABC’s
“Modern Family” (1.9/7).
In related Empire newz, “Empire” is scheduled to be off next week for Game 2 of the World
Series, which will be broadcast by Fox Sports, and could be off on Nov. 4 too
if a seventh game is needed.
Oak Park, Ill, native Betty White made a guest appearance on the Fox TV show Bones. The legendary actress acted opposite Emily Deschanel
(Temperance Brennan) and David Boreanaz (Seeley Booth) as Dr. Beth Mayer, whom
White describes as “a forensic anthropologist who wows everyone with her
experience. She’s been around so long there isn’t anything she hasn’t seen.”
That includes her share of dead bodies — one experience White is glad
she doesn’t share. “I’m a little squeamish,” she says to EW. “Thankfully I only dealt
with bones, not bodies. I’m grateful it’s not my real day job.”
As for White’s actual day job, she says that she “can always hope”
we’ll see Dr. Mayer again.

Why did Ebony Magazine use shattered picture of The Cosby Show on their cover?
Why did that ranch out Lamar Odom's sex antics? Why did the Oscars decide to hire Chris Rock again to host the Oscars? Why is Bobby Brown writing a tell all about Whitney? Why did Anthony Mackie say he would vote for Donald Trump then backpeddle and say he was just joking? Why are some people upset that Joe Biden isnt running for President? Why are some people up in arms that some of the characters in the upcoming Star Wars are African American? Why did Jane Fonda reveal recently that she and Michael Jackson had skinny dipped? Why did Raven Symone think her comment on The View about not hiring someone with a ghetto sounding name would not get criticized about? And why cant people wait until Holloween is over to start putting up Xmas merchandise?
