HEY

ILLI MO SPOTLIGHT

The new Kanye West album has been looming over the pop culture collective unconscious for months. Kanye has maybe been in the studio with Lorde. He has definitely been in the studio with his baby. An unfinished track of the lead single appeared on the internet.  He has taunted us endlessly. But now, the album is ready. We don't have it yet, but it's ready.

"I was thinking [the record] could somehow come out in June, like Yeezus, and just kill it for the summer," Kanye told GQ earlier this year. "But then I'm like, I have to work on Adidas and be with my child."

On Wednesday night, Kanye played the full album three times for some of his friends, according to rapper Theophilus London.

On Thursday morning, London posted a picture to Instagram of him and Kanye, accompanied by the caption “Kanye playing his new album three times in a dark room of 20 people last night.” (The rapper also recalled “moshing drunk with mad babes” at the listening party, which took place at Paris Fashion Week.)

London thentook to Twitter to say that he’s featured on the record’s first single.

Back in July, Kanye told GQ his seventh studio album would “most likely” come out in September, though an October or November release could also be possible.

Speaking of albums, before the release of Jennifer Hudson's  third studio album, JHUD,  she greeted an audience on New York City's Gramercy Park Hotel rooftop  this week for an intimate Q&A and listening session, hosted by Gilt City

Fans reportedly funneled into the swanky rooftop terrace for an evening with the singer-actress, complete with a first listen to what is a wholly different side to Hudson, an added dimension to her personality and oeuvre that counterbalances the stirring ballads that have come to define her.

"A part of my dream was for my fans to know me," Hudson said while seated in the corner, the Empire State Building in the distance behind her. "You should have a sense of who you're following." The previous evening the singer and actress showed off her curvaceous figure in a printed miniskirt and thigh-high leather boots at a record release party for JHUD, also in New York City.

Hudson teamed the edgy ensemble with a loose fitting silky black tank top and racy fishnets.
She maintained a rocker flair with her short black locks, smokey eye makeup and a slick of bright red lipstick.

Jennifer struck various playful poses that further showcased her svelte physique while taking center stage on the red carpet.

Kansas City native Columbus Short may have been killed off Scandal, but that didnt stop him from hosting a premiere party for the upcoming fourth season Thursday.
Short portrayed Harrison Wright, the right hand man of star Kerry Washington's character Olivia Pope, for three seasons on the hit ABC political drama.

He posted a flier on Instagram on Wednesday promoting the premiere party on Thursday at Boogalou Lounge in Atlanta.

'GLADIATORS #standup #ItsGoingDown #Gladiator available tomorrow on #ITUNES and the long awaited premiere of #Scandal @kriskelli @bigblockesc #CoStarz,' Short wrote in the caption to his more than 40,000 followers on Instagram.

Short's character was last seen being held at gunpoint in the season three finale.

ABC renewed Scandal for a fourth season in May with Short not returning due to his personal issues outside the show.

Short announced in April that he would be leaving the show following his arrest for domestic violence.

Hmm, well, guess he had to do what he had to do. It was quite clever to use the opportunity to  keep

his name in the press. The episode focused on his characters funeral so it makes sense. But wonder what Columbus was thinking while the episode was being aired at the party.

ADD: After the TV watch was over he reportedly performed a song called......."GLADIATOR!" WOW. lol

Last week, Sheryl Underwood (RIGHT) shook up some things when she revealed that her fellow, Black comediennes, Sommore, Laura Hayes and  Chicago native Adele Givens(LEFT) talked about her badly during a conference call years ago when she was invited, by the tour’s creator, Walter Latham, to participate on The Queens of Comedy tour.
It was reported that when the ladies got wind of the news, they were not happy about it. And then Rickey Smiley came forward and said that Sheryl is not the angel she’s portraying herself to be in this whole scenario.
This week, the Humor Mill is reporting that  Givens is not only disputing Sheryl’s story, she plans to sue Underwood, “The Talk” and CBS.
Givens appeared on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show this week and disputed Sheryl’s entire story. She said the tale is a “blatant lie” and “the conversation never happened because [they] were never on a conference call discussing Sheryl.”
Givens also was on the Tom Joyner Morning Show Friday mirroring the same comments..
Smiley also had a statement from Walter Latham, the tour’s creator, that said he never even invited Underwood to participate on the tour.
Givens also announced that she’s seeking legal representation and plans to sue all parties involved for defamation of character and “anything else her legal team would advise to her that would apply.”
Hmm, sounds like a spin cycle is going in the laundry. And  as they say there's three sides to a story....but we think because Sheryl aired some dirty laundry that was thought to have not been known albeit Sheryl saying the other ladies didnt know she was holding on the conference call line. it was reported that there is no proof of h actual conference call, so its going to be hard for Adele to sue without proof.

STL SPOTLIGHT

The St. Louis Cardinals are very close to clinching a playoff spot. After losing to the Cubs 3-1 in Wrigley Field this week. The Cardinals, who clinched a playoff berth earlier in the week, they have three more games reducing St. Louis' magic number to three for clinching the division title.
As the Cardinals prepare for the final three-game push, they will be in Chase Field starting today, Friday, to play the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Lets see if the Cards can clinch, but the sentiments is about the team winning it on the field rather than by default.....in the reported words of its manager Mike Matheny,

"I'm tired of looking up there and waiting for somebody else to help us. Nobody's helped us all season long. Why are they going to start now?"

ADD With a 4-1 victory by the Cincinnati Reds over the Pittsburgh Pirates, the St. Louis Cardinals clinched the National League Central on SUnday:

A loss Saturday night from The Pirates, forced the Cardinals to back into the title, with a big assist from Johnny Cueto. The Reds right-hander got his 20th win and singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to eliminate the Pirates from division contention.
The Cardinals had a chance to wrap up the division, but dropped a 5-2 decision to the Diamondbacks Saturday night. They remained one game ahead of Pittsburgh in the NL Central after the Pirates lost in Cincinnati. On Sunday, the Cards won over Arizona 1-0.

ILLI MO SPOTLIGHT

Everyone was up in arms on Sunday when news broke alleging that Kanye told a kid in a wheelchair to “stand up” during one of his concerts in Australia.

Ye reportedly  stopped a performance to demand that the entire audience stand up.
According to the Daily Mail, Kanye announced: “I can’t do this song…until everybody stand up. Unless you got a handicap pass and you get special parking and s–t.. ‘Imma see you if you ain’t standing up, believe me, I’m very good at that.’
You hit the nail on the head, dude. One audience member had to wave his prosthetic limb before Kanye told him “‘Okay, you fine!”
However, a second audience member continued to draw Kanye’s attention when he didn’t stand up, causing the rapper to remark, “This is the longest I’ve had to wait to do a song, it’s unbelievable.”
The Daily Mail corroborate several fans reports that the crowd yelled that the fan was in a wheelchair, while others even made “wheelchair motions” to let ‘Ye know the situation.
Never one to take wheelchair motions at face value, Kanye asked his bodyguard Pascal Duvier to enter the arena and check on the fan. He only continued the show after Duvier confirmed that the man was in fact wheelchair-bound.
After the incident social media went ablaze. Then Ye took to Australian media and gave a 10 minute tirade about the situation.

Below are some of the rant:
"........ I want to take this platform. If I didn’t have this last concert, maybe I would’ve tweeted something or put out a statement with a publicist, but I can talk directly to you — my fans. Because they’ve got this thing where they want the masses — people who’ve never heard my albums — to somehow read a headline that reads negative, and think that I’m a bad person or somethin’. I’m not judging, I’m just going to tell you who I am. I’m a married, Christian man. So, if you take someone that can go from being a rock star across the globe and everything and make the decision to pick one woman and raise a family, anyone here that’s married or that’s in a relationship knows that there’s enough things workin’ against you. I’m not going to make one of them Ben Affleck statements and shit.

But what I’m sayin’ is, you’ve got like 12 years that we put in positive music. How many people ever heard one of my songs on their way to work — they heard it, and it made them feel better? And on those songs that made them feel better, don’t I say offensive shit here and there, like, so wait a second, that’s my brand! I curse and say really offensive … wait a second. That’s why when I did "Runaway" earlier, I said, "I sent ya a picture of my dick …" what did ya think when y’all heard that? That’s not G-rated! This is rap fuckin’ music! This is real expression. This is real artistry. You know, an artist’s career doesn’t happen in one cycle of news — an artist’s career happens in a lifetime. And if you’re a true artist, you’re willing to die for what you believe in.

And I don’t know if you feel like this, or give this feeling after the 10, 11, 12 years, but does it seem like in any way I might be slightly a true artist? ........I’m a married Christian man with a family. At my concerts, I make sure everybody has as good a time as possible. So all this demonizing me, it aint’ goin’ to work after a while. Pick a new target. Pick a new target. Because I’m not one of these dumbass artists that you’re used to. You come at me, I’m going to take my platform and break this shit down for real, intelligent people every night. And then, we’ll get back to the music.

Ye's at it again....is it me or does it seem now farcical of his antics and we expect it now. Now it was applauded when he criticized President Dubya on live TV during the Katrina Aftermath but now with all the self aggrandizing he does has now become parody.

Former The View cohost Sherri Shepherd went on Wendy Williams' talk show this week to chat it up about her former job and legal battles with her ex-husbands.

Shepherd mentioned on the show that she did watch the season premiere of The View and said she did think that everyone seemed a little "nervous." She also reportedly tweeted during the show.

On her custody legal battle with her first husband, Jeffrey for her son  Shepherd said “The judge ruled in my favor. I retained custody of my son."

She is currently in litigation with her soon-to-be ex Lamar Sally on receiving custody of the surrogate baby that she and Sally agreed to have and now has been born. On the Wendy show, Sherri couldn’t share too much about those proceedings because the two are still working things out.
"We can't say anything about that," she told Williams. "I have a lot of lawyers and I'm in court right now and it's very public and it's very painful.....Everybody is suing me. Just ask me to be a reference on the job application,” Sherri joked on the show. “You don’t have to sue me.”
According to Sherri, she and Sal are no longer on speaking terms, but she is praying for her estranged spouse. Oddly enough, she said Sal and Jeffrey do speak to one another, and she finds that “creepy” and “nasty.”
The former couple is due back in court Oct. 2 in Pennsylvania for a pretrial hearing.

Shepherd's former The View co-host Jenny McCarthy reportedly was OK about being fired from her former TV job and has an idea as to why she was fired.

In an appearance on Good Day NY this week, McCarthy admitted she hasn’t been watching the new View this week, though she’s heard mixed reviews.
And as for why she ended up leaving the show, McCarthy admitted The View wanted to go in a more diverse angle and her staying on would get in the way of that:
McCarthy did admit she couldn’t be as unfiltered as she normally is when she co-hosted The View.

The Food Netwok's The Great Food Truck Race” recently featured the city of St Louis in an episode titled “St. Louis Upsell.” Of the four teams that were left to battle, the winner was :
Beach Cruiser (PICTURED ON RIGHT) is from Venice Beach, California. Surfer Gretta has teamed up with professional chef Shane and sous chef Nicole to serve Southern California food across America. The challenge was having to sell a local delicacy, toasted ravioli, in order to earn their own seed money.

TIDBIT. The show filmed their group scenes at  Kiener Plaza and  Malcolm Martin Memorial Park in downtown East St Louis.
