THE TOP ILLI/MO STORY THIS WEEK IS:
The Obamas had the traditional Egg Roll this past Monday on the South Lawn and while the President's annual reading from Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are," which was reportedly interrupted by swarming bees and he had a competitive round of tennis between Mr. Obama and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki. But it was Mrs. Obama who stole the day with an energetic on-stage romp to "Uptown Funk" with the cast from "So You Think You Can Dance" all-stars.
In honor of the fifth anniversary of the First Lady's "Let's Move!" initiative, the theme of this year's Easter event was #GimmeFive, in which Mrs. Obama asked people to share on social media five ways they are leading healthier lives.
Presumably, her impressive dance routine was one of her #GimmeFive.
"We're going to turn this backyard into a huge Gimme Five flash mob," Mrs. Obama said, before leading an all-star dance party to Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk."
She hip-thrusted, fist-pumped, and kept the beat impressively, smiling all the while.
We must say that FOTUS has redefined the First Lady image of a second fiddle to the Prez and kept in the background. She is hip, chic and of course, put soul into it!
In other FOTUS newz, she graces the cover of the May issue of Glamour along with actresses Sarah Jessica Parker and Kerry Washington . The cover story is about them who are part of the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities and to promote This Memorial Day, America's servicewomen, veterans, and military wives—courageous women—need our help.
The interview which was done at the White House expounded on service people and how they will be celebrating Mothers Day.
Obama talked about her experience working with service people. She said, " Well, during the first campaign, one of my jobs as my husband's spouse was to travel around the country and really listen to women. We held small discussion groups, [and] there were voices that were new to me: the voices of military spouses, many of them women, and veterans.... I was overwhelmed by their challenges, and the notion that we as a country don't even know that these women exist, because we live in a country where one percent of the population protects the rights and freedoms of the other 99 percent of us. I thought that if I had the opportunity to serve as First Lady, I was going to use this platform to be their voice."
The Postal Service said Wednesday that it had no plans to reissue a stamp honoring Maya Angelou that features a quotation from a book by another author.
The quotation — “A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song” — has often been attributed to Ms. Angelou, the poet and author who died last year at age 86, but it is actually from a 1967 book of poems by Joan Walsh Anglund, a writer of children’s books.
A spokesman for the Postal Service, David Partenheimer, said that Ms. Angelou had cited the quotation frequently in interviews and that it provided a connection to her 1969 autobiography, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.”
“The sentence was chosen to accompany her image on the stamp to reflect her passion for the written and spoken word,” he said in an email. “The sentence held great meaning for her, and she is publicly identified with its popularity.”
Postal Service officials said they had not heard of Ms. Anglund’s book, “A Cup of Sun,” until asked about it by The Washington Post, which published an article about the stamp on Monday. Ms. Anglund, 89, told The Postthat she was a fan of Ms. Angelou’s and hoped that the stamp would be successful.
In 2013, President Obama attributed the quotation to Ms. Angelou while honoring other artists at the presentation of the National Medal of Arts and the National Humanities Medal. After Ms. Angelou’s death, it was widely cited as one of her most inspirational quotations. Ms. Angelou referred to it herself in an interview with the Greek music blog Blues, but she did not claim ownership of it.
The stamp was unveiled Tuesday at a ceremony in Washington that was attended by Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, the poet and activist Nikki Giovanni and Ms. Angelou’s grandson Colin Johnson.
Sounds like the same OOPS with the Dr King monument in D,.C. and its misquote of King . But different in that its a correct quite but not actually authored by Dr. Angelou. Should they change it? We think so. We think the quote should something from her famous poem, "Still I Rise."

Madonna just released a video of her new single, "Ghosttown." The video is set in a post-apocalyptic town,
aka, Ghosttown, and the 56-year-old pop star is seen seeking comfort in the
arms of Chicago native actor Terrence Howard. The pair are seen
in an intense passionate dance before another survivor – a young child –
appears at the end, in the video directed by Jonas Akerlund, who’s resume
includes Madonna’s Ray Of Light and Music videos.
Viewers and judges on ABC’s celebrity dance competition Monday made the Mizzou alum Michael Sam the third contestant kicked off this season.
Sam, dedicated a rumba dance to his estranged father, but the performance set to “I’m Not My Father’s Son” garnered a score of only 30 out of 40 from the judges,People magazine reported.
The gracious Sam,who got engaged to boyfriend Vito Cammisano in January, thanked dance partner Peta Murgatroyd and described the defeat as “bittersweet” in an interview with Access Hollywood.
“I thought my last dance was my best dance,”Sam told the TV show. “And I would like to leave on my best dance instead of my horrible dance.”
Well, guess Sam's ass of art could not save him this time around. But our question is, will he and his father reunite and mend their estranged relationship? Guess we will have to see what happens becasue the spotlight is now on his father at the moment.

St Louis native actor Jon Hamm is on the cover of the April issue GQ Magazine. In his interview, Hamm talks about the impending second half of Mad Men's final season, which started airing April 5. Although he explores what's on the horizon, a lot of his focus is on what it's like closing such a huge chapter ala Bryan Cranston,in Breaking Bad.
- From the article he talked on the impending end of Mad Men. he said, "The one constant thing I've had in my career is now removed. And that's an eye-opener: Are people still going to take me seriously? Am I just going to do romantic comedies for the rest of my life? What's next? And I don't know, you know? I wish I was smug enough to have had a grand plan."
We have an unrelated story on Hamm but go to WORDZ TO THE WHYZ segment down below for it.
Kansas City, Mo native actor Columbus Short may be
producing a gospel inspired version of Empire for Bounce TV according to reports. The ex-Scandal
star said gospel singer Kim Burrell is also an executive producer of the untitled
project.
If anyone saw this past Tuesdays episode of the BET drama "Being Mary Jane" there was a scene where there was a business deal that went down between Mary Jane's nephew Paul and a real estate broker involving real estate property around the owner of St Louis Rams' property where a new stadium is proposed in Inglewood. Paul was contemplating in doing a side deal with the real estate company to be a Project Manager, get a team of
developers, and oversee purchases of foreclosed properties in the area by lowering the price value and then raise the prices for potential executive residences.
Hmm, does the producers and writers of this show have an inside scoop of some side deal info about the Stan Kroenke stadium? As they say you cna only write what you know or heard,

The last post from a Twitter account that purportedly belongs to Ward features pictures from Lucas Oil Stadium, where Duke beat Wisconsin in the title game. There's also a picture of a small plane with the words, "My ride to the game wasn't bad #indy2015f4."

UPDATE
The St. Louis Blues are the 2014-15 Central Division champions after beating the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 Thursday night at The Scott Trade Center. That victory, coupled with the Nashville Predators falling to the Minnesota Wild 4-2, clinched the division for St. Louis.
The win over Chicago marked the Blues' second in four nights over their chief divisional rival and puts the Blues in a position to potentially steal the top overall seed in the West from the Anaheim Ducks. St. Louis and Anaheim are currently tied heading into the last game of the season Saturday.
The Blues play the Wild Saturday IIN REGULAR SEASON FINALE) also at Scott Trade Center while the Ducks square off against the Arizona Coyotes. If the two finish the year with the same amount of points, the Ducks would hold the ROW tiebreaker to claim the top seed in the West and secure home ice through at least the Western Conference Final. St. Louis basically needs to win their game, or at least get out of regulation with the point and hope the Coyotes can help them out.

THIS WEEK 2006
In the STL, I hear that the St. Louis Black Rep is getting high praise for its AIDS related drama "Before it Hits Home," and because of this, the Black rep will have a pre-show dialogue session, an AIDS quilt signing and 1/2 price off tickets for the show between April 5-8. For more info, call 314-534-3810...My boy Kameron Hopson hipped me last week that Flavor of Love reality show winner Hoopz was in the STL at Club dreams where VIP tix were 100 bones to get in. I dont know about yall but I dont think i would have paid 100 bones to see her. Shes hot and all, but the only reality star I may have paid that amount to talk upclose and personal with would have been Omarosa. What Kameron told me, she didnt stay that long in VIP and that Club Dreams was charging 25 bones for a pic with her. I'm not mad at Dreams for gettin their hustle on, but let;s get serious!.
THIS WEEK 2007
STL-TIDBITZ-St. Louis model Jermaine was featured in last week’s issue of Jet Magazine. Congrats on that….Also congrats to local singer/actress Llysa Rykale who is doin her thing on a local Schnucks commercial . She is the sister with the red sweater on who jumps up and down all excitingly then shows a receipt of her savings…..I will try and get to the demo of STL rapper City Ant next week. I heard some of it and I must say he seems to be the one to bring back consciousness rap lyrics back to hip-hop!.... STL boxer Cory Spinks will be fighting his next fight on May 190 in Memphis at the Fed Ex Forum (I heard that the Scott Trade Center will soon be called the Fed Ex Center. Hmmm) He will fight Jermain Taylor….I heard that a particular popular newspaper owner may be purchasing a building on Delmar to create their own art gallery! Hmmm, interesting.
THIS WEEK 2008
As OUTTOWN reported last week, former Cards team prez Mark Lamping resigned after the Centene Corporation backed out of the Ballpark Village project in the old spot where Busch Stadium once resided causing the delay of the project beginning (and from reprts, was sent off ceremoniously last Saturday at the brand new Champions Club at the Stadium) . Well, one politician is pissed off of the delay. In a formal statement, Comptroller Darlene Green (PICTURED) said, "Now that Centene has officially pulled out of Ballpark Village, the Cardinals and city leaders need to focus on removing the unsightly hole in the middle of our downtown and preparing for the 2009 All-Star Game. The 2009 All-Star Game and related events are quickly approaching, along with the inevitable worldwide media exposure. We cannot afford to have primetime television broadcasts featuring a downtown St. Louis with a six block muddy hole broadcast all over the world. The Cardinals and the city owe the taxpayers and fans something much better.”
THIS WEEK 2009
Oscar nominated comedian/actor Dan Aykroyd was in St. Louis a couple weeks ago week to promote his new line of wines. Aykroyd visited Randall's Wine and Spirits on South Jefferson and signed bottles of his Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay for buyers who had a chance to meet the legendary comic. The wines were made from grapes grown in California's Sonoma Valley. Aykroyd then drove through the teeth of the St. Patrick's Day throng in Dogtown for a sales meeting at the wine's distributor, Missouri Beverage Co. Then it was on to Triumph restaurant in midtown to a private event to promote Crystal Head Vodka for a different local distributor. The public met Aykroyd as he signed bottles of his wine from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. today at Randall's Wine and Spirits, 1910 South Jefferson Avenue. He owns a wine estate in his native country of Canada.
THIS WEEK 2010
OUTTOWN would like to give a shout out to comic and co-host of The Monique Show, Rodney Perry, who answered our email about meeting him recently at the Fox Theatre after Monique's show where she was and taking pics in the venue's lobby. We told him in the email that we had pics and a story of him and Mo on OUTTOWN and to recognize me, that I was the one who had given him my last biz card that he teased cuz it was raggedy.
Perry responded via email this week and said, " Great article thanks a bunch Marcus -- a crumpled biz card is better than no biz card.. peace and God Bless"
THIS WEEK 2011

Why are their so many women feeling they are discriminated against at Walmart? Why did news media camp out overnite for Opening Day at the Cardinals game? Media mogul Oprah Winfrey was in St Louis last weekend for the taping of two live shows for her Lifeclass Tour that stopped at Peabody Opera House (PIC BY LOVE BEING GIFTED) aired Monday. According to reports, crowds, largely female, jammed the streets around the Peabody, and the general-admission line stretched down 14th all the way to Clark Street. The Peabody, which seats 3,100, , and people on street corners were asking, "Anybody have extra tickets?" While waiting, those with tickets in hand took pictures of themselves in front of marquees announcing the event.
An afternoon session featured Bishop T.D. Jakes and was taped for a later airing on "Oprah's Lifeclass" on Winfrey's OWN cable network. An evening session aired live as the season première of the OWN series.

St Peters, Mo. resident Lucy is the latest in many who has gone viral. When Lucy’s father pulled out his video camera to record her hysterical attempt to walk the family dog, he never thought it would be seen around the world.
But that’s just what happened. After a family stroll, Lucy’s dad decided to put the video on his Facebook page. And after a good response, he thought, why not post it to YouTube?
Well, since then, YouTube viewers have enjoyed letting this little girl’s laugh lighten their mood this week.
The video has already gotten nearly 2 million YouTube views and has been showed on news programs across the U.S. as well as in Belgium and London.
The video is of a little girl walking her dog — and then intentionally dropping the leash and laughing maniacally —
"She kept asking for the leash, just so she could drop it and watch my dog run with it dragging behind him," her father wrote on YouTube.

This week we lost a great music artist. Frankie Knuckles, an American DJ, and record producer.[1] Born in The Bronx, New York; he later moved to Chicago. He played an important role in developing and popularizing house music in Chicago during the 1980s when the genre was in its infancy. Due to his importance in the development of the genre, Knuckles was often known as "The Godfather of House Music",[4] and as such the city of Chicago named a stretch of street and a day after Knuckles in 2004. His accomplishments earned him a Grammy Award in 1997. Knuckles was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2005 as recognition for his achievements. He was 59.

Why werent the facts checked on the University of Virginia rape charge article in Rolling Stone Magazine? Why did DMX steal that man's money? Why arent the bathrooms at Wrigley Field still not working in their renovated stadium? Why did
