Did you all see the Saturday Night Live clip of the Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump debate with Kate McKinnon as Clinton and Alec Baldwin as Trump last Saturday? It was quite good. The writers didnt have to do much as far as parodying the debate because those who saw it, the parody write itself. The episode itself was the highest rated episode in years (since 2008).
From reports, SNL averaged a 5.8 household rating, 15 share in the metered markets, up +29% from last year’s 4.5/11 for the Oct. 3, 2015 season-opening telecast. Skeptics were wondering with Baldwin could pull off Trump (many wanted SNL vet and current emcee Darrell Hammond to portray him) but Baldwin actually did a better Trump than Hammond who played Bill Clinton in a Family Feud sketch later on the episode. It was reported that Clinton loved the sketch and wished she could be as agile as Kate when she did a Willy Wonka roll to the podium. Trump didnt comment (Hmmm). Now the question is, with the next debates coming this Sunday held at Washington University in St Louis, of what SNL worthy stuff would be used from it. We predict that Trump may walk out the debate if it doesnt go his way.
And speaking of Hilary Clinton, everyone now should have seen or have heard about her appearance on Mary J Blige's talk show series The 411 streamed by Apple and the trailer of her singing Bruce Springsteen's song "American Skin" to the Presidential nominee and its awkwardness of it all (If Saturday Night Live could get Sasheer Zamata to be Mary J and McKinnon as Clinton to spoof this OMG it would be sooooo full of life). Mary J pretty much gave zero fucks of the backlash as seen on her Twitter page, but it definitely gave huge attention to her talk show. Some folk were saying that the moment was a another hiccup in her career like the Burkger King chicken commercial but we think it was genius on Mary's part to sing because it stood out and got people's attention. Now her long bangs over her eye sand huge librarian glasses, well thats another story. LOL But have you all heard Mary's new single, "Thick Of It?" The Sad Mary is back as the song talks about her pending divorce to her husband/.manager Kendu Isaacs.
Singer/actress Lady Gaga was booked to be the halftime entertainment for Super Bowl 51. People have been skeptical on her carrying it, but we think she could pull it off. She is a spectacle in itself with her persona and wardrobe. Our question is who else could hold the attention of a Twitter thumbed society? Beyonce did it last year...Prince and Michael are no longer here...some say Mariah but she isnt an entertainer, but a singer....some say Adele, but she is the same as Mariah. We think Lady Gaga would be the wisest choice. She's current and entertaining. Now her current moments as a Woods Witch on the sixth installment of American Horror Story and her sneak peak single "Perfect Illusion" may be a bit missteps, but overall we think she can pull it off.
Did you all see the latest episode of Empire and the implied oral sex scenes with Lucious and Anika? Whooooooo we were not ready for it, but was all here for it. It seems like the writers are trying to bring back the shock value of the show during its Season One days. And we are glad that they are bringing back the Boo Boo Kittyness of the role instead going toe to toe with Lucious.
In the same episode, the Lambs were ready to see their diva Mariah Carey in her rols as ...well diva singer Kitty. It was pretty much Mariah's persona with the men carrying her up the stage and giving side eye shade. But we can give it up to her looking fab in those cleave fully snatched costumes she wore. It wasnt much to her role and could have been played by an unknown actress. But on a side note, Gabourey Sidibe and Jussie Smollett was on a recent episode of What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and teh subject of Mariah came on and what was the experience of her on set and Gabourey just said, "Late." Hmm. Suprised? LOL
But the ratings for Empire continue to slip. According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s “Empire” drew 9.24 million total viewers. The numbers trail the 3.7 rating and 9.65 million viewer mark garnered by last week’s episode. It ranked as the lowest for a non-holiday edition of “Empire.” Only last year’s Thanksgiving Eve episode, which was excluded from the final averages as a “special,” drew a smaller live+same-day audience (3.2, 9.21 million).
The highly anticipated Netflix series Luke Cage broke the Internet for those trying to subscribe to the service to watch the 13 episode series of an African American superhero. Netflix servers went down for over two hours. This interruption comes one day after the third Marvel series on the streaming service debuted its first season. Now our question is, was the interruption because of people trying to download the series or a tech glitch? But regardless of the answer, its appeal stems from the content and its lead actor Mike Colter who are giving the ladies some serious bae-action. Check out the WORDZ TO THE WHYZ on the hateration going on with this series having an all black cast.
This weekend is the national release of the much anticipated slave rebellion pic Birth of A Nation. But the film has been plagued by the rape case that its star and director Nate Parker was apart of years ago. Although he was cleared of the charges, the rape case has tainted the film. There have been polls and surveys around asking people will they still support the film albeit Parker's rape case and his refusal to apologize to the victims family. People, its a film, not a retrial. And why has the case all of a sudden been flooding the media weeks before its initial release that was slated for last month but was pushed back to this weekend because of the controversy? Dont get us wrong, rape is horrible, but Parkers personal life shouldnt have anything to do with the film which has been touted as an Oscar worthy film since its success at film festivals earlier this year. And to play devil's advocate, last we checked Woody Allen was still married to his stepdaughter and he hasnt received any backlash for his incestuous behavior and he is still garnered as a critically acclaimed director. We are just sayin.
The Smithsonian's African American Museum of History is now open and it looks like visits to the museum in Washington DC have been sold out until January of next year. Since its opening over 100,000 people visited the history, culture and community exhibitions, officials said. It’s unclear how many more were unable to get passes. Before its opening, the museum distributed 705,000 passes for admission through Dec. 31. The next set of passes — covering January through March — was supposed to be distributed beginning this past Monday, but technical difficulties with the ticket vendor forced the museum to abandon that plan. There was no updated info on when passes will be distributed. Have you attended? Let us know what you thought.

So who do you think will win between The Chicago Cubs and the New York Giants in this postseason? We will find out this weekend when they play.
