Now lets get town!

I didnt do any travels last week, but I have been traveling on social media mainly on Facebook and ran onto a plethora (Yes, I said plethora) of commentary regarding the No Limit Reunion Tour that  kicked off  at and swung through the Chaifetz Arena this past Saturday in midtown St Louis--mostly bad.

On a side note, when I was at my gym in the locker room, a buddy asked me did I attend the show and I said, "No, but I heard about it."

So, I was like I better say something about this show because St Louis is buzzing about it.

The performers who came through the show were Master P, Mystikal, Silkk the Shocker, Mia X and Fiend.  It was also a packed house based on info what I saw on social media.

Well, it seems as though the huge crowd was the best thing that came out of it.

From my understanding, the show was not up to par as far as performance sets were not being fully prepared and some of the acts looked as though they just walked up on stage, figuring out where to start performing as their dee-jay struggled to keep up. And from the crowd's BOOs and leaving out, The No Limit camp left a bad taste in its mouth.

Based on reported reviews Mia x and Mystikal saved the sow but everyone else more or less mailed in their performances on a late delivery (some forgetting their lyrics even). Most people from what I read on social media were split as far as their enjoyment of the No Limit Reunion.

But what really triggered my posting about  this concert were
two popular St Louis promoters who caught my eye on Facebook that really got the convo heated regarding the show. One was Mocha Latte, Queen of St Louis media and promotions. She went on her FB page to address about what she heard about the show and in short, wondered why do some national acts who come to St Louis dont fully give the city respect when it comes to their shows like other cities like Los Angeles and New York. She also quipped about who should be the blame for putting on sub par shows

She wrote on her FB page: Someone let these entertainers and out of town or in town promoters tour managers somebody anybody (who should be responsible for hiring the right person to run the show) know that we don't play about our time or money. Stl is a force to be reckoned with.. don't try us.........At the end of the day someone is responsible for making sure a show does good not just packs the house. #period

Then, another St Louis promoter Orlando Watson, restaurateur of Prime 55, responded to Latte's concerns and mainly said   I love you Mocha but this post isn’t fair to promoters. This instance isn’t a promoter issue.

Then he later wrote: Why not place your blame and complaints at the people who actually gave you the poor performance? They had no tour manager, no production manager, no backstage manager, and the point of contact for the tour was a ghost, they had no rider, no run of show and they were all late and basically freestyled the entire thing. They gladly accepted their deposits but then basically gave no assistance to the venue or promoters the entire time, all the way up to the show.

There was no slack on the promoters taking care of these people’s deposits, their airfare, their hotels, the radio ads, renting the lights, sound, stage hands, paying the Chaifetz a high five figures in fees, the unions etc. Should the promoters have got on stage and rapped for them as well? Start blowing up Master P and his teams DM’s and e-mails.

Mocha then responded: If the promoters (k)new all of this madness why did the show go on!? This sounds crazy and horrible before them dudes even came out.

Then Watson rebutted:

Why did the show go on? So they were supposed to just say screw 100k plus advanced dollars that were laid out for the show? You know how this goes. If the promoters would have pulled out citing “lack of communication” that money would have been tied up indefinitely!

Then Mocha wrote:

That's a show that was destined to be jacked up. But they took errrybody money #endofdiscussion

Well that was some of the back and forth that was going on with the two promoters. Now heres my opinion about  the situation base don what I read and gathered:

Did both Mocha and Orlando make valid points? YES.

However, the bottom line is making money. Promoters want to make money from ticket sales and profit off their investment bringing in an event that they expect to be a box office success. It seems as though Master P and his crew banked on their legacy for their fans to come see them perform regardless if they did a great job or not. Thus, as long as the second half of their money cleared before they walked onstage it was all gravy.

Its unfortunate that STL fans got the short end of the stick by witnessing a very janky show and spent their money expecting a good show.

From the promoters P.O.V. would they would have lost more to cancel the show because of the unorganized behind the scenes matters or to put on the show knowing it was going to be a not-so-good show? Thats another question. Either way the fans would have been upset over the outcome.

Who is to blame? The promoters? Master P? I think its more Master P who didnt prep for the show. But on the other hand,  was it in their contract to rehearse? Im not sure. And if it was, would they have rehearsed? Maybe.

Everyone involved collected  $ from it and went home.

This is definitely a "chicken or the egg" convo that definitely got STL social media talking and definitely needed to be addressed.

For this week, I have one

So,  I went through the drive through of the taco spot Fort Taco in Brent wood and when I got up to the window, I saw the above dry marker board and they had some Hollywood trivia questions for their customers I assume to receive a free taco or something, but that wasn't the observation, it was their spelling of trivia which was spelled "TRIVA."

Now, mind you all the other words were spelled correctly except TRIVA.

So the question is, "How can you have trivia questions and don't spell trivia correctly???"
