Fresco Kane is hot—in more ways than one.

He is hot as in his career as well as the title of this newest single.

The East St. Louis native released his newest mixtape, ESTL, under the So So Def label presided by hit producer Jermaine Dupri.

To promote the single and mixtape, Kane (who was formerly Gena) as well as Dupri made an appearance recently on BET’s 10 and Park where his video “Hot” premiered.

This is why when the world receives its introduction to rapper, producer and singer Fresco Kane, they’ll realize that the latest So So Def/Epic Records signee is the triple threat of the future.

From his website, industry visionaries hope that Kane can rejuvenate the St Louis music scene after Nelly and Chingy.

“I definitely feel like a lot of weight is on my shoulders,” he says. “But I’ve come up with so much rejection because I’m where I’m from that this kind of pressure is a blessing.”

It wasn’t until his first year of junior college at South Western Illinois College when the former high school basketball standout began taking his multi-talents seriously. Trips to Atlanta, with his then manager, to visit Young Jeezy producer Shawty Red encouraged an 18-year-old Fresco to abandon his hoop dreams.

“I’ve got a lot of versatility,” says Mr. Kane. “I never just limit myself to doing one thing. I’m trying to spread my talent around. I’m not gonna just do rap or just do R&B or just produce. I mean, why would I? Which new artist today does all three”

Originally rapping under the moniker Genesis the Lyricist (also known as Gena), the Lou MC would later change his name for the purpose of gaining more artistic individuality. Making sure that his image remained organic, he would pair his reputation for being stylishly “dope boy fresh” with his resemblance to the lead character in the classic film Menace To Society, Cane and birth the tag Fresco Kane.

Two weeks after changing his name in February of 2012, FK would meet Jermaine Dupri during a trip to ATL with his new management Starpower. The initial intent was to play JD tracks from Fresco and former St. Lunatic Murphy Lee’s unreleased mixtape. The So So Def boss was much more interested in Kane’s solo records. A week later he signed him.

. “Just because you’re signed doesn’t mean you’re on,” he states. “I got signed off of my talent––because I can sing, because I can produce and rap. I’m appreciative of being signed but it just means more work. And I’m ready to work.”

WATCH EPISODE THREE - MY LOVE IS BLIND

This week, we feature two artists for their style. East St Louis native Ginger Brown is currently doing her thing in New York as a burlesque entertainer. Here, she is sporting one of her costumes that can easily be worn at a fashion event. Brown wears an orange flapper dress with fancy head scarf and dark pink satin gloves. The dapper dan is Sleep Young, whos wearing urban gear with style when he was clubbin at Exo. He is sporting a purple Cards cap, a leather purple bomber jacket, a purple sweater jacket and brown tweed slacks. Young is a recording engineer and rap artist at Notifi Music.

BLIND DISH

Which STL recognized personality  had to make a post on Facebook recently for men to stop posting pics of their penises on their Timeline? The person is a female, who is a model and is vying for a spot in one of America's  most iconic magazine that features women. Her first name is the same name of a fictionalized character on a popular 1990s sitcom that starred a rapper. Who is she?

STL socialite Raqelle Wallace is back this week to give her commentary on pop culture. This week she gives her WHYz .

Why can’t (We Never Ever Get) away from Taylor Swift? Why are we surprised that Nikki Minaj was snubbed at the Grammy nominations? Why are House Republicans planning to leave for vacation early when the Fiscal Cliff is looming upon us? Why did Christina Aguilera leave her comfy seat and good pay on “The Voice” for lackluster album sales? Why was Justin Bieber asked to perform at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show? Why are celebs like Kanye West and Rihanna giving the world too much information about themselves than we care to know on Twitter? Why is NeNe Leakes receiving so much backlash for being on the cover of Ebony because she turned her 15 minutes of fame into 60 minutes? Why is Beyonce deciding to do a HBO documentary on her personal life now?Why can’t Jada Pinkett Smith raise her daughter, Willow, the way she so pleases without criticism from the masses? And Why are we continuing to watch Bobbi Kristina self-destruct on The Houstons: One Our Own?
