THE TOP ILLI-MO STORY THIS WEEK IS:

Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama stopped by the set of the "Late Show with David Letterman" Monday night, for his eighth and what is expected to be his final guest appearance ahead of the TV show host wrapping up his tenure later this month.
The two talked about the unrest in Baltimore, 2016 elections and of course, how they plan to spend their retirement.

"I was thinking we could play dominoes together," the President quipped when asked about his future plans. "We can go to the local Starbucks and swap stories."
Obama's post presidential plans came into focus earlier in the day, when he helped re-launch the My Brother's Keeper Alliance, a nonprofit offshoot of his initiative by the same name, which aims to give young men of color more opportunities and access to education.
The President's appearance on the "Late Show" comes on the heels of a slew of celebrity goodbye visits to the show, including the First Lady last week.
"I know you like Michelle a little bit more than me," the President told Letterman. "And I assure you, you are not alone."
Letterman's final episode of the "Late Show" airs May 20.
Obama praised the late night host for his tenure, "We love you, Dave. We really do."

As many times POTUS and FLOTUS have been on his show we wouldnt be surprised some TV exec would ask both to host their own talk show after they leave office.  We just sayin.
Kanye West and Roc-A-Fella Records founder Damon Dash have teamed up for a new entrepreneurial venture: film.  they are set to executive produce the film Too Honorable, an action-packed shoot 'em up flick featuring Cam'ron,Styles PSmoke DZAEishia BrightwellJulito McCullumNicholas TurturroDaniel Jenkins,Michael RispoliSmokey SuarezOschino Vasquez, and Murda Mook. Dash also acts and directs in the film, and his cousin Stacey Dash (Clueless) also has a featured role. The movie will hit theaters on May 25, although it's unclear whether it will receive a limited or wide release.
They already worked on the film Loisaidas together back in February in a new effort to produce indie films and cut out the middle man. "This is like when Spielberg and Geffen got together and did Dreamworks," said Dash in an Instagram post. "Me and Kanye making movies." Their first episode of their short film Loisidas was released later that month, featuring appearances from The Lox and others.
Hmm, no Jay Z cameo....interesting. We are  sure this move doesnt help dispel rumors of Ye leaving Jay Z's Roc Nation.

The Chicago BlackHawks wrapped up a four-game sweep of the Minnesota Wild with a 4-3 victory at XCel Energy Center Thursday in Minnesota, sending them to the Western Conference final for the third straight season and the fifth time in seven years, The Hawks move on to the league’s final four, and will face either the top-seeded Anaheim Ducks or the upstart Calgary Flames (where as of press time, Ducks lead 2-1)in the conference final.

St Louis native actor Jon Hamm, who's Emmy Award winning
series Mad Men is coming to a close this month,  has been
signed to star in the thriller "High Wire Act," Written by Tony
Gilroy (of the "Bourne" franchise) and directed by Brad Anderson ("Transsiberian"), the film is about a former U.S. diplomat in 1980s Beirut "who is called backed into service to save a former colleague from the group possibly responsible for his own family's death."

Chicago filmed series Empire is making ratings history in the international  TV markets.
"When it started to air (in the U.S.) — every week it grew and grew — many important clients of ours have contacted us to rethink what they were doing," Marion Edwards, 20th Century Fox Television Distribution's president of international TV, told The Hollywood Reporter  in March.
Empire is reportedly now sold out in virtually every major territory worldwide. Big terrestrial broadcasters like Germany's ProSiebenSat.1, Network Ten in Australia and France's M6 — networks with market positions similar to Fox's in the U.S. — have acquired the series.
In the U.K., where U.S. shows of any kind have a hard time getting on major networks, yet alone with a predominately African American cast  went to E4, Channel 4's smaller digital pay TV outlet. Fox International Channels, which is a smaller pay TV player in most foreign territories, has picked up the show for multiple global markets including Italy, Poland, the Netherlands and South Africa. It has even conquered Asia, a notoriously difficult market for U.S. shows, with deals for such key territories as China, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong.

It was announced recently that Chicago Bears' number one draft pick, Kevin White (PICTURED WITH NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell at the NFL Draft in Chicago) , who wore #11 at West Virginia, would be issued #13 for the 2015 season.Josh Bellamy currently wears #11, and since his roster spot if far from a lock, there's a chance White will want to go to his collegiate number. White himself has even expressed a desire to snag #11 this season, so hold off on the jersey purchase. The most well known #13 in Bears history was wide out Johnny Knox.
Second round draft pick Eddie Goldman of Florida State, was issued #76. Steve "Mongo" McMichael famously wore #76 during Chicago's heyday in the 80s.
Third round center Hroniss Grasu, formerly of the Oregon Ducks, was issued #55, which is a number that has adorned a few memorable Bears. Just last season it was found onLance Briggs, but before him it was worn by SBXX OLB Otis Wilson. And before Wilson, the double nickle was on the legendary Doug Buffone.
Jeremy Langford, 4th round running back from Michigan State, was given #36, which let's face it, is a terrible running back number. Ahmad Dixon was the last Bear to wear the number and if you go back a couple more years, it was Josh Bullocks' number.
Safety 5th round draft pick Adrian Amos wore number 4 at Penn State, but he'll wear #38 in Chicago. The last solid defensive back to wear that number for the Bears was Danieal Manning, who actually had a similar CB/S skill set as does Amos. Hopefully there will be no DMS in Amos' future.

TCU offensive tackle, Tayo Fabuluje, their 6th round pick, was issued #73.

Speaking of last week's NFL Draft, The Rams started with the selection at the No.10 overall pick: Todd Gurley on Day 1 in Chicago (PICTURED with  Goodell.)

With three of their next four selections, the St. Louis Rams chose to bolster the offensive line. After trading back to start Day 2, the Rams took Rob Havenstein, the bruising offensive tackle out of Wisconsin.
The Rams did nothing that was particularly noteworthy on Day 3. However, they did manage to snag a developmental quarterback, Sean Mannion, in the 3rd and another offensive tackle, Andrew Donnal, in the 4th round.

And in more NFL Draft newz, six Mizzou alums overall were picked. They were  Shane Ray (Broncos, 1st round, #23 overall  PICTURED with Goodell) Mitch Morse (Chiefs, 2nd round, #49 overall) and Markus Golden(Cardinals, 2nd round, #58 overall). WR Bud Sasser (Denton, Texas)was taken with the 25th pick of the sixth round (pick #201 overall) by the in-state St. Louis Rams and TB/KR Marcus Murphy (DeSoto, Texas) was snagged with the 13th pick of round seven (#230 overall) by the New Orleans Saints.

A “Los Angeles Rams” page on the NFL’s official website made the rounds Monday, adding fuel to speculation over an impending Rams move back to Los Angeles, where they played from 1946 to 1994.
The NFL, looking to squelch the rumors, had a decent alibi: The Los Angeles Rams website is considered a “leftover remmant” from a “legacy” team.
“It’s a bug in the system that, when you manipulate the URL, will pull up a legacy team from that city if no current one exists,” NFL vice president of communications Alex Riethmiller told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“The same error occurs if you change the URL to ‘BOS.’ In that case, a Boston Patriots page will show up with New England Patriots content.”
The spokesman offered another reason not to believe the landing page was a sign of things to come.
“To have a page ready a year and a half ahead of time, that’s kind of silly,” Riethmiller said.
So it was a URL glitch---ok....sounds like someone is trying to keep their job.

RIP BITZ-- Former St Louis resident  and Chicago based radio show host Ty Wansley died Wednesday at the age of 63. From reports, he  started his radio career in 1972 in St. Louis, where he worked at KWK, KATZ, KKSS and KMJM before moving to Chicago in 1980.Wansley most recently was news and information director for three urban-contemporary iHeartMedia stations in the Chicago area, where he anchored news and public affairs shows.

St Louis Cardinals played the Chicago Cubs for 10 games at

Busch Stadium winning 9 of the 10.

In the last game on Thursday, Pitcher John Lackey , who replaced season ending injured pitcher Adam Wainwright,   helped the Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs 5-1 for their ninth win in 10 games.
The hiccup in winning all 10 games was when The Cardinals fell 6-5 against The Cubs Wednesday at Busch Stadium. The loss ended the Cardinals  overall winning streak at eight games. It was their longest run since the 2010 season. The last time the team won as many as nine in succession was during the 2004 season.

In other Cards newz,  on Monday the organization announced four new inductees into their Hall of Fame. Catcher Ted Simmons  (SECOND PIC) and pitcher Bob Forsch (FIRST PIC)were reportedly voted in by the fans. The Red Ribbon Committee  reportedly elected center fielder Curt Flood (THIRD PIC), while the organization reportedly selected George Kissell (LAST PIC)for enshrinement.
Simmons, 65, played for the Cardinals from 1968-80. Forsch, who died in 2011, played from 1974-88. Flood, who died in 1997, played from 1958-69. He is also remembered for challenging the reserve clause in baseball, a precursor to free agency. Kissell spent 69 years with the Cardinals as a minor-league player, manager and coach until his death at age 88 in 2008. Induction ceremonies are scheduled for Aug. 15 at Ballpark Village.

St Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny was recently on NPR Radio's  Fresh Air's talking  about his playing career, managing in the big leagues and the pressures of youth sports. He also talked about his book The Matheny Manifesto that was published this year. To hear the interview go to

St Louis radio station  WIL-FM 92.3 have hired a new team to replace the the morning show that until two weeks ago had been run by Jeff "Cornbread" Law (PICTURED RIGHT).
Starting on Monday, Jim Day and Jeane Garth (PICTURED LEFT) will steer the appropriately named "Jim & Jeane Show," from 5-9 a.m. weekdays. Garth, a Hillsboro High grad, worked in Rolla, Mo., before starting at WIL two years ago, working weekends and fill-ins. Since Law's departure, the morning drive has been steered by "Captain Mac" Douglas.

RIP BITZ--The country’s first African-American weathercaster has died. Dianne White Clatto passed away on May 4 of natural causes at a retirement home in St. Louis.
Mrs. Clatto joined KDS-TV (now KDSK) at the height of the civil rights era in 1962. She spent more than 25 years there, working as a weather anchor, co-anchor and general assignment reporter. She went on to work for the city’s mayor and to do nonprofit work.
A trailblazer, Clatto was also the first African-American model for several St. Louis department stores and was one of the first black students at the University of Missouri.
Clatto won accolades for her work over the years and was inducted into the St. Louis Black Journalism Hall of Fame and the Missouri Hall of Fame.
She is remembered as a no-nonsense woman. Her son, Chip Clatto, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that she wrote her own obituary, put it on file at the funeral home, prepaid for her arrangements and donated her body to Washington University’s School of Medicine.

      Dianne White Clatto was 77.

As we celebrate 10 years of blogging on July 5 we
will highlight some of the stories
reported and covered over the years each week.

      THIS WEEK 2006
Anyone peep out the Fox 2 interview that Bonita Kornute did with STL rapper Nelly? It was OK. Nothing was really revealed that we didnt already know (his clothing line, VOKAL, his charities 4 sho 4 Kids and Jes Us For Jackie, his co-owning the Charlotte Bobcats, etc.) It was revealed that he is trying to get a clothing store put in his native city University City and that he and his fellow ST. Lunaticswill have that resturant constructed on Howdershell in ST. Louis County. Other than that, it was no juicy stuff.

Although it was sort of telling when Nelly told Bonita that when former BET owner Bob Johnson wanted Nelly to co-own the Bobcats with him that he told Mr, Johnson taht he didnt have 150 million to go in with him, but he only needed about a few million or so and that he told him that he did have those kind of millions. He did play it off with a blinged out grin and a laugh (That is so irresistible!) . He tried to be modest with his comment, but you know its hard to be that when the rest of us is struggling with the dollars in our own pockets. Ya feel me?.

      THIS WEEK 2007
STL-TIDBITZ. Did anyone know that superstar producer/ singer Akon was born in St. Louis? ….has anyone been watching STL comedian’s Guy Torrys sports interview show, “Ballaz” on BET?... Three sorority members at Southeast Missouri State University face charges for hazing a student by forcing her to eat garbage, hitting her and spraying something in her face, authorities said. The women, members of Zeta Phi Beta sorority, were charged with third-degree assault and hazing, both misdemeanors…. Did anyone check out former St. Louis American/ current Washington Post writer Jabari Asim when he came to the STL a week ago at Left Bank Books? According to mediatakeout.com, rapper NELLY is taking his controversial sports drink to Africa after signing a deal to distribute Pimp Juice through a company in South Africa. The Hot In Herre star faced a backlash in America when he first launched the dubiously-named drink in 2003, but the product has been snapped up by Mojalife. Sales of Pimp Juice will begin later this month and the deal is expected to pave the way for the release of the rapper's other business ventures, including his Vokal and Applebottom clothing labels, in Africa….Local socialite/poet Mocha Latte hosted that Male Explosion that was held at Blackmons Plaza. She reports that the fluffy girls were mos def getting buckwild up in that piece with the strippers. But ironically, it was an Olive Oyl type sista who accidentally slipped on the floor after she was picked up and got entered by one of the male strippers’ “cockiness.” Too much playin!

      THIS WEEK 2008

Did yawl hear that a white student will be valedictorian at the historically black male Morehouse College in Atlanata? Yep (History has been made for sure ) Joshua Packwood (4.0 GPA), of Kansas City, Mo,,
made history as the first white valedictorian in the 141-year history of Morehouse.Packwood certainly wasn't the school's first white student, but he eventually became an "unlikely ambassador for the school." He was voted dorm president as a freshman and was a Rhodes scholar finalist. He was popular and nicknamed "Tom Cruise," perhaps before there was any debate whether this was a compliment or an insult. The 22-year-old Missourian will graduate with a 4.0 GPA and a degree in economics, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he is happy that he chose Morehouse over such universities as Columbia, Yale and Stanford. Is it us, or do I sense that he is the future of what African American progress will be aka affirmative action,? Remember THE BOARD OF REGENTS VS BAKKE 1978? Hmmm.

      THIS WEEK 2009
WTF happened with the Oprah Winfrey promo for the 2 piece grilled chicken? Nationwide, folk went crazy in lines waiting for hours to cop free dinners with the coupons that people had to download to get. Well, from reports, all KFCs (including the ones here in the St. Louis area) ran out of chicken even before the giveaway deadline (which was last Saturday before Mothers day). To help matters, national KFC promised to mail in redeeming coupons for a later date.

From mediatakeout.com, Here’s what one reader sent into AOL’s blog:

I went over to our nearest KFC a few minutes ago...and chaos ensued. Despite the very visible grilled chicken behind the register, the manager told everyone with coupons to leave and that the promotion was over for the day. The people there are currently holding a sit-in and refusing to leave until they get their free chicken .. .or the cops are called. Racial epithets were being spewed, people who actually wanted to pay for chicken were facing a potential beatdown, and the manager ran from the screaming horde.’
Wow that is crazy! Over some chicken? What started out as a campaign to promote good health with KFC’s grilled chicken, turned out people flipping over the bird. First mad Cow, then beloved, now we can safely say the Chicken raid ranks up there as an "Op-fu.'

      THIS WEEK 2010

THE BIG A&E STORY in the ILLIMO this week was Oak Park, Illinois native award winning actress Betty White and her appearnce on “Saturday Night Live" last Saturday. In a special ladies edition with SNL alums (a very pregnant) Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, and Molly Shannon, critics are giving thumbs up to what they saw and heard.
White’s participation has been a big coup for SNL bosses - early estimates indicate the latest episode, featuring Jay-Z as the musical guest, drew the show’s largest TV audience in 18 months.

One Boston Chronicle critic wrote, “White made all of her material fly — as McGruber’s humiliating grandmother, as the “Little Women’’ lady who kept saying “Because she’s a lesbian,’’ as David Caruso’s great aunt in “CSI: Sarasota.’’ Every time she said “muffin’’ as the baker in the Gasteyer-Shannon NPR sketch, she killed. White’s comic ease and expertise, honed over decades on sitcoms, was not diminished by the rigors of live TV.”

In a digital short, the “SNL’’ cast paid tribute to her with a sentimental version of the “Golden Girls’’ theme song. But White put on a mask and led them in a head-banging version. And, in her opening monologue, instead of getting teary about the Facebook campaign to get her to host “SNL,’’ White ridiculed Facebook as a “huge waste of time.’’

      THIS WEEK 2011
In unrelated Obama newz, his and the First Lady Michelle’s historic appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show Monday almost didn’t air. Due to the timeliness of the piece (which was taped last Thursday)Oprah was contemplating during last weekend after Obama announced to the world Sunday at a press conference at the White House that Osama bin laden had been killed. But Oprah and her producers decided to run with it and flash before the show that it was pre-recorded throughout it

With the dated episode, one could not help but to find “hints” of what was to come in regards to bin laden’s demise.

Some of the quotes on the show were

First Lady told Winfrey and her audience, "[Barack] can keep his eye on the prize in the midst of some craziness. That's what makes him a special leader."

The president shared again that he would be running for a second term in 2012. Said the First Lady of their joint decision to run again, "It's an honor and its a duty. We take this responsibility very seriously -- if there are things we can continue to do and I think this president has a lot more to get done."

      THIS WEEK 2012

Utah judge has to decide whether the late   ZionIll native child star Gary Coleman's ex-wife or an ex-girlfriend is entitled to his estate.
A judge heard closing arguments Tuesday in ProvoUtahbut didn't specify when he'll issue a ruling.

His ex wife, Shannon Price (PICTURED ON RIGHT)testified Monday that even though she and Coleman divorced in 2008, they continued to live together and present themselves in public as husband and wife.

Another woman, Anna Gray, says Coleman named her a beneficiary and executor of his estate in 2005. Gray managed Coleman's affairs for a number of years and was his ex-girlfriend.

It's not clear how much Coleman's estate is worth, but court papers mention a $324,000 house and a pension, among other possible assets.

Coleman's ashes and the intellectual rights to some of his work also are at stake.
The "Diff'rent Strokes" actor died of a brain hemorrhage in 2010.

This is a no brainer here. If Anna Gray is the executor of his estate, then she gets his estate. Just because the ex wife lived with Coleman doesn’t mean anything if there wasn’t anything in Coleman’s will that she gets anything.

      THIS WEEK 2013

This is the debut of fitness champion Steven C Lacy's weekly fitness column spotlighting various personalities in the fitness industry, more specifically natural bodybuilding, leading up to the Evolution championships in August.

      Name: Rich Fitter
      Title:   Co-Founder
      Article by Steven C Lacy

For 12 years Rich Fitter was an athlete, promoter and chairman. From 1999-2006 Rich competed and won pro cards with the NGA and WNBF. When a Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness company went bankrupt, Rich was given the opportunity to take over WNBF. After agreeing, Rich later realized that the organization was not what he had always believed it would be about. No longer being able to compromise his beliefs, he no longer wanted to be a part of the company. Shortly after, Vicky McCann contacted him with similar beliefs about the company, leading them both into establishing their own sanction which is now called, "DFAC". DFAC is a fully tested natural bodybuilding and figured organization. This organization was formed by natural athletes who were tired of competitions being overshadowed by political and business decisions.

This is the second year DFAC has existed and since then have increased the number of shows and affiliates. DFAC offers competitors no restrictions if athletes chose to compete elsewhere. The organization does not charge sanction fees and does not compromise their standards on drug test either. DFAC does not allow crossovers at the events; expect participation in non-sanctioned class such as Men's Athletic or Bikini. Rich Fitter thinks natural bodybuilding has grown in many ways and athletes themselves are stepping up their support of the sport. Some advice he leaves for new competitors in the near future is to “train to your best, but always remember that you compete for fun.

      THIS WEEK 2014
Chicago reared rap superstar Kanye West is reportedly planning to use eye scanners on guests at his upcoming wedding.
The hip-hop star is set to marry his fiancée Kim Kardashian in Paris on May 24, with plans heating up at the moment.
"He's asked his people to put in a request to French President François Hollande for use of the Republican Guard, which provide his security. He's asked for some of the 3,200-strong team to be dispatched to him for the day and has offered to pay $1 million for their services," an insider claimed to British magazine Heat.
"He's also shipping in retina scanners to check all guests and two former agents from America's Secret Service to detect any intruders."
As well as wanting to ensure his and Kim's privacy, the steps are said to be in part because Kanye fears the wedding could be a terrorist target.

As the big day approaches, Kim got on Twitter recently to dispel rumors about the wedding. She said that they have not gotten married in a small civil ceremony, the wedding will not she filmed for Keeping Up with the Karsadians (just everything leading up to and after will be filmed), and that the ceremony will be small and intimate not thousands of guests.
It seems as though this wedding will be the most sought after for paparazzi to try and get pics, bu the way it looks, many press photographers may be out of luck.....is it that serious? To many it seems as though it is....

WHYZ on the MAY PAC FIGHT. Why was Jummy Kimmel  and Burger King walking out with Pacquao and Mayweather respectively? Why was Jamie Foxx  booked to sing the National Anthem? And why did he try to church it up?   And why wasnt Beyonce booked to perform it? Why wasnt Charter able to handle all the pay per view streams causing a block?  And Why did  it seem as though both fighters had a meeting before hand of how to fight that  fight?

OTHER WHYZ.  Why are critics trying to say that  prosecuting the Baltimore Police 6 isnt about racism because three of the cops are black? Why did it take so long to punish Tm Brady about Deflategate? Why was Isiah Thomas hired to be the president of the WBNA after being accused of  sexual harassment  of a female employee when he was a manager of the Knicks? Why did Matt Barnes of the Clippers talk foul  to James Hardens mother  during their game? Why does it seem as though Bruce Jenner's transgender reveal is more just a way of getting ratings for his reality show? Why was that fan in Chris Browns house? Why was Jamie Foxx trying to explain on Ellen Show of his National Anthem debacle?  And why are folk trying to sue Pacquiao for not revealing his shoulder injury before the Maypac fight knowing if he pulled out all of the world would have berated him?
